My doc got a big hug today!

I had my first annual device check and checkup with my EP today.  He was thrilled I'm doing so well! And so am I.  I know not everyone has had smooth sailing after PM implant, so I count myself very fortunate.  I struggled for years with disabling AFIB/Aflutter, and I know my EP was disappointed he couldn't cure me and had to resort to, well -- the last resort:  an AV node ablation and a PM 100% paced.  I cannot feel the AFIB anymore and have gotten my life ba...

BioTronik Edora 8 DR-T

Hello, I got my pacemaker BioTronik Edora DR-T installed about 4 days ago 10/17.  I think they may have some settings messed up.  I have heart block 37yo Male healthy and active.

Anyway before my resting BPM were 40 - 50 but now post procedure my resting heart rate sits at 80 - 90bpm.  I called the doctor's office and they said the threshold is set to 60bpm.

Also BioTronik uses something called CLS to try and mimic your natural responses to increase...

6 week check up

Hard to belive  that i have now had this pacemaker for 6 weeks. now.  Saw the  PA for the EP  and pacemaker tech this morning.  Said healing well(do have a rash from the glue that was used.)  And a little scar tissue which i hope to work out using accupuncture and movement.

Since the last checkup 4 weeks ago have paced 40%  of the time, 8% afib, and a rate of 68-70.  I of course have not noticed or  felt anything.  Was told some fee...

All is good till my heart rate goes above 142 - no matter how fast or slow i'm going the Breathing doesn't match the effort and I get tired after a few mins of this.

I'm asking them to put me on enduracne setting. Current ly on athletic setting.

Also I'm goign to ask about "smoothing the rate response.

99% VP and 47% AP - significance

Hi! I am an 80y old male, and had a Dual chamber STJ Endurity Core pacemker implanted in June-19. My condition was diagnosed as a intermittent heart block.

At implant the VP was >99% and the AP% was 7.5%.

At my first follow up at 3 months, my VP% was >99% and AP was 47%. My doctor has indicated that these metrics warrant a further investigation.

Other settings/parameters are

DDD, Base rate 60bpm, paced AV Delay of 170ms, Sensed AV delay of...

Automatic threshold tests leadless MICRA PM

Hi everyone

Since having my leadless PM put in in July. It is set to 40BPM and it seems it hasn't had to pace me yet. I got it after a 13 second heart pause out of the blue (I had a loop recorder). I've had serious palpitations every 30-60 minutes since the PM op. I was taken to hospital recently whilst travelling as my heart had started racing (still unclear what that episode was as the loop recorder was taken out). But, while I was there I asked the technician about...

Low rate set at 70 HR has dropped lower

Hi all,

Looking for some advice please. My Husband has a Medtronic dual lead pacemaker inserted in January for Heart block. He also had an Ablation for Afib in March. We are seeing the EP tomorrow as we feel we need some questions answered, ie breathlessness, postural hypotension which seem to have worsened since these procedures. The last few days we have been monitoring BP/HR/symptoms more often in order to discuss with the EP. Today I believe John is having an episode of Afib,...

Extreme fatigue

This may seem like an odd question but does anyone experience extreme fatigue for days after a routine PM checkup? They didn’t change any settings but did the normal interrogation and tests. I didn’t feel this way when I had my previous PM check up 4 months ago but that was by my EP. This time was a young new person who did take so much longer to do everything. Since this last appt I feel weak and tired. Almost light headed at times. He said everything was fine with my PM but...

rate response

Can anyone explain how rate response works?  I don't think my PM is set at a high enough level and I get so short of breath I have to stop walking until I recover enough to continue.    Still having shortness of breath almost two years later. Medtronic PM 12/17 for 2:1 AV block, followed by PE 3 days later.

Have an appointment with EP in a couple of weeks and have asked for records of all my PM checks so I can be prepared to ask questions. &n...

Office visit (rant)

If there's something harder than communicating with medical professionals, I don't know what it is.

Oh and I have some choice words for St Jude's while we're at it.

I tell them I've been having PVCs accompanied by wheezing. My pulmonologist assures me it's not asthma and is probably heart related.

They tell me my pacemaker is working fine.

I tell them yesterday afternoon I had such a bad "PVC storm" I was close to collapse an...

Symptom of something?

My duel-lead pacemaker was implanted on July 17, 2019.  I went back for the two-week check and was told everything looked good.  Since my surgery, however, I have been for tired than usual.  I'm sleeping 10-12 hours a day.  I get out of breath very easily, and when I get up from a sitting or lying position I often have to wait for my equilibrium to catch up with me or I will fall down.  I'm wondering if these problems are due to the pacemaker or one of my othe...

Medtronic remote monitoring of an ICD

I was verry happy with having 4 interrogations per year at our local hospital. The technician would tell me of any events that occured, time, date, duration, and the data would go to my cardiologist. I am now being asked to go to the home monitoring system. Will it now be more difficult to access this data? How will find out if I have had any incidences, as I never feel them, Also, can the settings of my ICD be changed by this remote system?  Also, who detects if an "event" has...

How to read data

Hi,

I've had a Metronics Azure PM for over a year. I get the data print out from the tech person at the Dr. office. Can anyone direct me to information about how to read/understand the data printout? I've looked at some of the Medtronics manuals available on line but am still not sure I understand what the data is telling me.

Pacing episodes

hi

Bit of a random one and i really should have paid more attention at my annual check-up today. I have a medtronic dual lead pm, ive had it for 3 years now (i'm 41)..

The technician mentioned that i'd had 18 episodes totalling over 100 hours.. Im assuming this was over the last 12 months??

Does anyone know what this meant? The technician did alter something immeadiately afterwards and said i shouldn't feel so breathless from now on.. Like i said, i wasn...

Sudden change in HR from long time patterns right after most recent routine 90-day pacemaker check

Short story: Exercise HR in long-done exercises at about 5-6 met level have suddenly dropped about 30 beats. Rise and fall of HR on resistance circuit long-ranged 100-120, but is now 60-80 with recovery to 60 long before catching breath. Sleeping heart rate suddenly shows no increase in HR for movements from 60 setting for sleep bradycardia.

More detailed story: In my opinion, one or more of three items (my heart, PM, or PM setting) has suddenly changed after 3 years. The PM checks have...

Treadmill stress test

My husband has appt tomorrow morning for a stress test.  He got his PM in February and does ok in normal circumstances, but is still out of breath when he climbs stairs or goes up any kind of elevation.  Last week the cardiologist suggested the stress test which we both were excited about.  It would seem that they would see just what is going on in real time.  Well, to make a long story short, he fell last Monday at work.  Did come home with a swollen lip and two brui...
