I have had my PM 4 mos and it has become uncomfortable in my chest over the last month. It feels like it has a stem on the top of it. Could it be a lead is working its way out? Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks

Hi everyone,
It's been quite awhile since I've been on, but I just found out that I'll need my pacemaker battery changed in the next month or so, and wanted to see what others thought here.
When I went for my checkup and I told the nurse about my Junctional rhythms that my pacmaker can't control, she told me that the reason that is happening is that the lead isn't in the part of the heart that is causing the Junctional rhythm.
I guess I'm just really confused. I just...

To all of those who are 100% depended on your PM and who has had the second PM (or more,) approx. how many years will they last? November 16, 2011 will be one year since my PM has been implanted. I'm really not looking forward to whenever that day comes..........but I keep on keeping on..........what's the alternative? Just curious?
I'm getting my PM & leads removed.

After only 12 months with a PM that was fitted for type 2 av block, I'm getting the whole thing removed. I've had pain & discomfort from day 1. It's taken 12 months for the Doctor to say I'm a good candidate for lead removal, mainly due to the trouble I've had since the PM was fitted, but also for the fact I wasn't problematic to av block before being told I had av block. That's all I can say really. I await the operation date, and only time will tell if I make it out ok. Operation is via t...

Hi everyone,
I was googling about pacemaker battery EOL when I found your club, so I joined. I saw a similar question to mine in recent postings, but not a lot of answers. My mom is 99 and her battery is scheduled to expire one month before her 100th birthday. She got the PM when she was blacking out, perhaps from low blood pressure. She says she is ready to go to God and won't re-up the battery. We have become at peace with this. But I'd like to know what will happen. What can we do...

Hi everyone, just got home from the hospital after receiving new battery. I was pretty much at ease after reading all of the post from all of you, everything was just how all of you said it would be, it all turned out good, and i am feeling better already. Thanks so much.

Hello,
My husband got a pacemaker in 2001 and now is the time for his replacement. I just want to know how much is the cost for the replacement of the pacemaker without insurance. My husband worked as a construction worker and a welder. Where we can go to ask for some help?
Thank you so much!

Hi all. Just found this website and have enjoyed reading all of your comments, so thought I'd share my experience with you.
I had my first siemans pacemaker implanted in 1984 age 39- I still have that very same one! It was done at kings college, London. I was originally told it would need a new battery in approx 7-10 yrs.. Although I have to have check ups every 3 months it's still going strong. I'm booked to have a 24 hour recording tomorrow and hopefully all will be well.

Hi Folks, I'm new to the club and have appreciated the comments I've read so far.
I just found out that my pacer battery error may have been resolved by a software update after I just got it replaced.
Jan 2006 I had an Medtronics Enrythm Pacemaker installed for type 2 heart blockage. I have both atrial and ventricular leads put in.
After 5-1/2 years of pacing about 16% of the time, I got a battery EOL (end of life) message during a routine pacer check. It had...

Hi everyone.
So i'm 11 days post implant now and trying to get back to normal as much as possible, i havent lifted my left elbow above shoulder height but i'm still terrified of causing one of my leads to displace. Any advice on how likely this is and how i would know if i had done it? if it did happen would they need to go in and fix it and would it cause me any long term damage? i still have 2 weeks to go before my first check up and 3 days after that i'm due to go abroad so i am VERY NE...

I recently had a biotronic pacemaker implanted. shortly after the pacer insertion I began to have dizziness and nausea episodes occuring frequently, accompanied by a complete loss of energy. Just walking from one room to the next in my home completely zapped my energy---and it seems to be worsening. Has any one ever experienced those symptoms after receiving a pacer?
appreciate any info.

Hi all, I'm 23 and have had my pm for just over 5 and a half years. I had my first six month appointment yesterday and they have told me I need to come back in December for another checkup and that I am more than likely going to have a replacement battery in March. I don't really know why but I've felt really weepy about this today as I'm not sure what to expect and my battery hasn't lasted as long as I thought it would. Is it really uncomfortable and painful during the op? When I had my pm fitt...

Hi.. Newbie here.. I'm 45 years old. I have had a pacemaker since 1994. That's when the original leads, (which are still in place) were installed. I am on my 3rd pacemaker at this time and have run into complications. This one has been in since April 2004. It seems that when my Dr. installed the pacemaker, no one ever checked it thoroughly after implantation. somehow a lead fractured and it never came out of discovery mode. This means my pacemaker has not been working properly for t...

Hello Everyone,

I would just like to update everyone and let them know I had the pacemaker and leads extracted by Dr. Wilkoff at the Cleveland Clinic last week. I could not be more happy with my decision. The Cleveland Clinic was absolutely...

I've had my Medtronic pacer/defibrillator for 61/2 years. Lately, at 10:42 AM I hear what sounds like emergency vehicle sirens in Europe. The sound lasts for 30 seconds, then stops.
I called my doc and can't get in for another 3 weeks. An e-mail to Medtronic has gone unanswered.
Any suggestions, advice, etc. is welcome.

Has anyone with a new pacemaker had recent issues with the MRI safe atrial lead by Medtronic? My atrial lead will not stay in place in my heart. I am scheduled to have my 3rd attempt since April to have my atrial pacemaker lead implanted.
