dr. changed from bipolar to unipolar (broken lead on dual chamber unit) don't know which they are pacing (upper or lower). However, I am experiencing some pretty tough soreness in the upper chest area (close to and around generator site). Anyone had this experience?

I have a bi-v St judes pacemaker. I am pacemaker dependent. I have had several dizzy spells and a few fainting/passing out incidents in the last month. St Jude tech says atrial lead impeded, Dr somewhat agrees. Lead "turned off", still occasional dizzy spells, but no fainting.
Dr says lead does not need to be replaced at this time, but down the road yes. I am seeking a second opinion. Any suggestions?

I wanted to tell fishfighter & others that you can sign up for FDA recall on their website. That way you get 1st hand knowledge of these recalls. Also a lot of other info on recalls. There are a lot of them every day but thankfully not related to our PM/ICD's.

Hi
I see there is a recall on faulty ICD leads. Is it possible that PM leads are also faulty. When the tech from the company does a check he is not going to tell you if there is a problem with the leads as it will cost the company money. If the Doctor is getting kickbacks of up to $2000 for a PM how can you be sure his dicisions are based on sound medical judgment.
Cheers
Roy

Just went to medtronic tech for check up. She said the pacemaker is in the 3month safe period and I must scecdule to have a replacement. What actually happens to the heart when this happens? I am 100% paced and have a dual channel pacer.

Hi
I have had an AV ablation and therefore I am pacemaker dependant. I have a dual chamber pacer inserted and it is set on DDDR. The past few days I have experienced bubble like feelings just below my right breast almost to the centre of my chest. It does not feel like it is inside. It feels more like just below the skin. Could this be a lead fracture? Please help as I am in a real spin about this.

Hi Everyone,
I have not posted in a while, I have been doing really good, but today as I was bending down to get some clothes out of the dryer I heard a beeping sound. At first I thought it was my dryer, but it has nothing that would do that. Then I thought it must be coming from my pm. I have only had it for a little over a year. Has anyone else had this happen.

Just found out I have broken wire on lower chamber lead wire of dual chamber set up. Dr. says they have "by passed" lead and will see what happens (everything normal at present). She says if lead needs to come out they will use lazer, otherwise will try another lead in same artery?
Anybody know what type of symptoms I can expect to see if pacer malfunctions? I’m 69 and have had pacer for 18 years (one generator replaced (2 years left on present one)

Hi there!
Just wondering if anyone has the cardiomessenger technology with their pacemaker and how successful you are finding it?

Hi Everyone:)
Just thought I'd let you know what has transpired. I get my pacemaker "interrogated" every 6 months. Six months ago my interrogation (or check up) was just fine. Last week, however, things are much much different. The lead (wire) that goes to the ventricle is depleting the pacemaker battery at an alarming rate, so the Pacemaker Tech had to call in one of the Cardiologists (who I've only met once before).
He explained to me that there could be too much sc...
EnRhythm Failure

My pacemaker, a Medtronic EnRhythm has caused problems for the past 6 weeks. My heart rhythm problems were, at first, thought to be caused by a new generic medication, but after a quite severe episode, a read-out of the pacemaker was done and it had gone to default and was causing rhythm disruptions.
The failure is in the battery coating and is happening in about 10%
of the implants. Be warned.

Hi,
I am 77 years old and had my first pacemaker implanted in 2000. I am on my third pacemaker, which is a Biventricular Pacemaker. I have had this pacemaker for three years but it will be replaced in the next month because I have a bad lead which has drained the battery.
My electrophysologist is vague about what will actually be done, maybe a new lead can be fished thru the vein where the current three leads are now, but this may not be possible,...

Hi
I have had my PM for 15 months. One week ago I had a fall on my left shoulder ( my dog ran into me ) and since then I have an occasional twinge in my heart for about one second. Could one of the leads have come loose?
Thanks
Roy
