Thank you all for all the support & encourgment, during my recovery. You have answered many questions that I had, it helped me a lot. Wonder why the Ep & other surgeons don't tell us more about what to expect. Mine never told me that , the device could be set after surgery. I am schelued for another surgery later in Aug. I am having a PM/Defbri. The brand they are going to implant is:a Boston Scientific device. Has anyone heard about this one, or does anyone have this brand implanted. Would ap...

Have ICD and take 81mg aspirin, coumadin, Lipitor (*hmmn?) and since I just got a DES stent last month, now take Plavix that the cardiologists want me to take for a year. Problem is I need cataract surgery in at least one eye (probably both). Cardiologist says do NOT stop Plavix for a week or a day. Eye doctor reluctant to do surgery while I'm on the stuff. Now of course, I have an eye exam for my driver's license coming up in 6 months!
Anyone have cataract surgery while on these drug...

Pookie asked that I repost this list.
My plan is to post it every couple of months but can move it up to once a month if it is wanted.
If the club wants to put it in the Clubhouse corner, that would be ok.
It was last posted 17 July.
See the GB from ElectricFrank.
The ones with question marks, I am still unsure about the defination. As always comments, revisions, corrections etc are welcome

Thankyou to the folks who responded to my "Big Mess??" post.
I did call back and spoke with the fellow in charge of the clinic.
He had my chart, told me that they "don't usually" put anyones' pacemaker to 140, they've written "at my insistence" in my chart and then he explained how "to get more out of your pacemaker".
Apparently, my stair problems, walking problems, etc. can be handled by using "arm movements" to let the pacemaker know that I'm moving about. It...

Please delete the word "long" from in front of "NOT" in the preceeding post.
Also should read "senses".

i posted a message to you all recently expressing my concerns and worries as my baby with complete heart block was having a pacemaker. thanks for your replies. He was back home and had to go back to hospital due to severe reflux problems for a week. Then back home again and had to go back to hospital after 3 days as his wound on his chest appeared to be infected and was crying uncontrolably. Its been a very stressful horrendous month. I've done nothing but worry and cry. I've spent hours af...

Hi...my pacemaker was inserted June 4th and I am finally feeling somewhat better. I am a runner but have been unable to run and have switched to walking about 5 miles per day...this morning with my heart rate monitor on, I was walking about 14.5 minute miles and my heart rate went up to 143 although the range that it was set for was 60-130...would this be normal for it to get up to 140's??? I was rather surprised as I had never seen it go over 120. Any feedback would be very appreciated. Tha...

You are right Smitty, it had just been a bad day. What I said to the person whose grandfather was getting a PM/ICD was I had a 3 wire unit to increase my EF. They first put in a 2 wire unit, then 5 months later they added a 3rd wire and changed units. I asked the Doctor if Medicare would let him do that and he said sure. I don't know exactly what the criteria for the 3 wire unit is. As for getting zapped it happened to me twice not long after putting the unit in, as I have said before I would e...

Hi. My grandfather is a candidate for the pacemaker defibrillator combo device. I nor my family knows much about all this and we are trying to get some info and opinions. Apparently just the pacemaker wont do what his heart need. His heart only does 35% of the work it should and is decreasing rapidly. He has always been an outdoorsmen and now can barely get out of bed. He was taking medication that seemed to help but the side effects were worse. He just wants to be able to get up and around agai...

Thank you, Nimrod, for the information. I'll let you know what transpires. Getting information here in England from the medical profession, or worse, its self-important support staff's akin to drawing their teeth without anaesthetic! Will avail myself of suggested e-mail address and give them something to mull over today! Kind wishes. Wannabe

Hi everyone still havn't returned to work yet but the Fire Dept's cardiologist has released me for full duty also, just waiting on paperwork & what the Chief is going to say. I did finally get a response from the NFPA on the 1582 standard.

Has anyone been able to find a plastic surgeon that will be willing to perform a breast reduction and or lift after having a pacemaker inplanted?

I am 31 years old now and have been actively looking for a surgeon who will perform a breast reduction and or lift. As soon as I say I have a pacemaker I am denied. The reason stated is that the anesthesiologist is unwilling to do general anesthesia; and breast surgeries are done under general anesthesia. Help! Does anyone know a surgeon that is willing to do this procedure? Ps I already tried abroad and I ran into the same answer.

I had a real interesting experience and am wondering if others have had something like what happened to me, happen to them.
I went to the optometrist last week to have my eyes checked. Not a totally routine thing but close enough. They put drops in my eyes to dilate them. As my husband doesn't work far from the hospital, I headed to his office to have lunch with him. On my way there I began feeling ... not well. I progressively felt worse and worse...light headed, palpitations, sweati...

Hi,
I just had my pacemaker implanted two weeks ago and I'm 30 years old. I went in for a tilt-table test to see why I had been passing out and check my blood pressure. 6 minutes into the test I passed out and my heart stopped for 16 seconds. The cardiologist came in and explained that the best option I had was a pacemaker. He explained that because I had been experiencing these passing out episodes for 4 years now and that perhaps the first time I blacked out my heart could have...
