How long does it take before the pain stops in your shoulder after you have had an implant fitted. My husband had it put in two weeks ago and he is still in alot of pain.

Having the PM moved into a new pocket. Question: what happens to the old pocket. Does it sag or does one need plastic surgery?
If so, I would rather keep it as is...feel the lead and have the PM move. I could get use to it. I just had a new battery put in 5 months ago. Any one have a pocket revision or have a surgeon make a 2nd pocket?
Thanks

Just want to pass on this piece of statistics:
Studies of PM reliability 1980-2002 indicates that the reliability increased significantly, latest was 4.5 failures per 1000, or 0.45%
So, it should be better than that today.

I got this from a friend today and thought you all might like to see it. No wonder my doc says keep the cell phone away from the pm!

Hello all,
I have used the search for people going back to work and am coming up with conflicting opinions.
I am a Paramedic. I was told by my EP it would probably be difficult....but he wasn't sure if it was possible or not to return to work.
I was worried about the lifting under all kinds of weird circumstances....and I never know where I might land on a call! I can't refuse treatment to someone..who is in an auto body shop..or any other place where there might be things I shoil...

I've been unable to read the site posted earlier but have found two government sites with information about interferences.
These sites seem to be in line with what I was told when my pacemaker was implanted.
Maybe one of the pros' can chime in...thanks.

Radiation from cell towers, digital cordless phones (the base unit emits 24/7 whether or not on a call) and WiFi routers can all interfere with pacemakers.
Not only this but the radiation can cause heart problems in the first place.
It damages DNA (REFLEX 2004) and can cause auto immune diseases and cancers in a short period of time (5 to 10 years depending on exposure)

Hi
I had a pacemaker put in about a month ago. I was down to 29 beats per minute so they figured it was time. I had an ascending aortic aneurysm repaired in 2001.
Still don't feel so good. Dizziness/lightheadedness every once in a while. Fluttering of the heatbeat. On top of that, I have had diarrhea and a headache. I was place on Metroprolol after the pacemaker, but the doctor took me off after I complaining how I felt. Still do not feel much better.
I am lost. I just want to f...

Hi to everyone who responded to my message. I wanted to thank all of you for your words of wisdom and your support. Your personal stories about what has gone on with all of you, didn't make me feel so alone. I could feel the support. Support is so important, no words can describe it.
As for the update I went into the Cardiologist this week because my left arm was beginning to swell and become painful. The doctor suspected a blood clot, so he ordered an ultrasound. Sure enough...

Does one have to take Coumadin forever because of a PM implant?
Is there an increased chance of blood clot with a PM?
thanks
Ken

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
