1st PM 24th July - don't feel any different!!

Hi again!

Well, still feeling tired walking up stairs, still get the odd fluttering in my chest - well, in fact all symptoms prior to Gerry being inserted!

Often wonder, did I really need the pm (I have 2nd degree heart block) - thought I would be skipping about like a new born lamb! I know it is early days and have been back a couple of times to check on the general pacing - and all is well.

Pre op I was 35 - 45 bpm and now around 85!!

Any top tips...

A thought please

Hi All,
I am probably going to get skinned alive for this...!! as some of you not so recent member... will realise Susan "your Strange friend" (queen_beez) has not been on line recently.

Apart form her heart problems she is fighting off other Major health issues, as a lot of you already know she has had a brain tumor and it has reared it's ugly head again... she is ok but pretty much knocked out with it .
She is such a strong lady and tries to plough her way through all this...

3 days after implant

Hi had a pacemaker/defibulator put in tuesday. I know these are going to be general questions and i know they may vary but im still going to ask.
does it always stick out like it does, how long does the pain last. i also feel like im short of breath, dr tells me to take it easy and drink lots of water, they think i may have had reaction to pain meds in hospital, which they did make me sick to my stomache.
the only thing im worried about right now is the shortness of breath it actually...

Reply to Pete´s message - Pacemaker replacement in patients who already have AV node ablation

Hi Pete,

I read you posting, which you have posted quite long ago, but it could still be interested to you.

I haven´t had exactly normal PM replacement, but I think that it will be quite similar to that, what I had ;-)...

... so I have got the third degree AV block by ablation as well. But when I was on my last (fifth) ablation, they destroyed the AV node and fitted in just external pacemaker - the last ablation took 8 hours and the doctor told me that he will...

Question regarding Angelie's posting

I too have been have these crazy hot flashes/night sweats at night and also some during the day. I have had my pm since July 3/08 but the sweats did not start until about a month ago. Now Im getting them all the time. I'm pretty sure it is just a woman thing but your post was the second one that I've read about night sweats etc. Is there a possibility that it is pm related? It sounds kind of hokey but you never know I guess. Anyone else out there get the night sweats /hot flashes. Im a 48 year o...

Hi,

had my PM put in about 4 months ago now, but still get the odd day when I get depressed and want to rip the thing out. I know that's quite normal and many people go through it.

I was having one of those days yesterday until I got home from work, and received a call from my sister to let me know one of my nephews has testicular cancer. He is 21. He is having his op today (18th) to try and remove it.

Suddenly my problems seemed VERY insignificant, and I feel gu...

??? for the ladies

I am currently taking 25 mg Coreg & 5 mg Lisinopril after having my implant 2 months ago. I'm also 54 YO and postmeno. I had the occasional hot flash (power surge!) prior to all this but now it's just nuts! I feel them coming on & grab my fan to try & head them off - sometimes it works, sometimes not. The above meds are the only change (besides the little hunk of metal in my chest) that I've made. Thank God fall is here! I'm not wild about winter but this year it's looking pretty good! Could the...

Been out for a few days...Hi ya'll

Hey there everybody in "electronic" land. I've been out for a few days, and I'm trying to catch up on what's been going on.
I'm a month post implant and have been getting horrible night sweats, chills, and it seems like I can't shake this fever. I got a sinus infection a couple weeks ago. I'm hoping that it's my sinuses and not anything to do with my pacemaker. My doctors haven't even mentioned that, although it's something that's crossed my mind, and is a concern to me.
What do ya'l...

A LITTLE HUMOR.

An elderly patient needed a heart transplant and discussed his options with his doctor.
The doctor said, "We have three possible donors; tell me which one you want to use.
One is a young, healthy athlete who died in an automobile accident.
The second is a middle-aged businessman who never drank or smoked and who died in his private plane.
The third is a hospital administrator who just died after 30 years of service at the large medical center." " I'll take the administrator's...

V pacing is at 100%

Hi all,

I was on my check-up on Monday. I have got single chamber
pacemaker, so it stimulates just my ventricles. I have got inappropriate sinus tachycardia with average heart beat about 130-140/min (during 24 hours holter monitoring) and then I have multifocal SV tachycardia (from 180 till 250/min) and one time I had ventricular arythmia as well, so I was on 5 RF ablations and at the end of the fifth ablation they had to destroy my AV node... So I have got third degree AV block...

pauses in heart beat

hi all,
Had this happen to me today, I worked all day and was exhausted. When I got home all I could do was sit down, kinda light headed but mainly extreme fatigue, so I took my HR and it was in high 50's but I noticed a pause every few beats. I also recently experienced chest pain on inhalation while I was on my walk adn light headedness, I barely finished my walk but was fine the next day. I've had my PM x 10 yrs., with my generator replaced 2006 plus an extra lead placed at that time....

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
