a-fib and b/b

Hi All, I have reduced my B/B gradually to 12.5 (atenolol) and have been feeling better about the side effects. I would like to eliminate them completely and work on the triggers that cause a-fib. Had a slight bout of the pesky one this evening while playing tennis, felt fine until the end (21/2 hrs.) .......H/B high and dizzy. Took b/b and it cleared up within a half hour. Is there a rebound effect when one is weaning off of b/b.................not had any problems since r/r was turned on 2...

New arrythmia

Last April I received a dual pacing device, and an av node ablation for atrial fibrillation and atrial tachycardia. Since the insertion of the pacemaker I began to experience ventricular tachycardia. It is much better controlled now with sotalol, though I still have a 3-5 minute occurrence every few days. These are almost always mid-afternoon soon after I get up from my afternoon rest. They do NOT occur after I get up in the morning. Is this progression familiar to anyone? Were there any solutio...

Heart Block Definition & BBB

Another article I can actually understand!!!

The term 'heart block' refers to a delay or stoppage at some point of the electrical pathway of the heart, and is a medical diagnosis made on the basis of an electrocardiogram (ECG). Depending on the variety, heart blocks may produce slow heart rates leading to dizziness or blackouts, or may produce no symptoms at all.

The Heart's Conduction System

The heart consists of two separate pumping systems, one on the right...

I miss the treadmill :(

I'm feeling pretty useless just sitting around doing nothing while my lung gets straightened out. I've got a freakin' 5 k to train for. I don't wanna be sucking into this breathing machine. I want to exercise on the treadmill. This is so frustrating. UGH. I can't believe this. I know ya'll are like, "quit your whining", but I'm about to go crazy.

Anyone else diagnosed with Lenegre's Syndrome?

I don't know if it is 'just in my head' - - - - - - is it possible to feel more fatigued the more the pacemaker has to be used?
Does it matter - maybe - what the underlying condition is that requires the pacemaker in the first place??
Has anyone else been diagnosed with Lenegre's Syndrome?

Fainting

Hello!
Quick re-cap: I had my 3rd ablation about 6 weeks ago. First 2 were sinus node modifications for IST, 3rd was for sinus node re-entry atrial tachycardia.
I was doing better until I fainted night before last. I saw my doctor yesterday, he adjusted my pacemaker and told me to come back in 3 months. 3 months...are you kidding me!!! I can't go on like this for 3 months! Still having issues because of IST.
On the way home I fainted while sitting in the car. I have NEVER fainte...

Thanks

Thanks for the positive feedback for someone who tends to take life and everything else too seriously. I never had any forewarning and went form 60 BPM to 10 BPM within 24 hours for no apparent reason at a young age so maybe I am still a little - whatever. Sometimes I just need a little reminder of what's good about this thing.
Yours Truely

I have a pacemaker - do I need it?

Not quite sure what happened to me in 2001 when I was 55 but I passed out on airplane and a Dr on board suggested I be cardio tested. I did that - I was subjected to every test imagineable and flunked the infamous tilt table test - they said I flat lined for about 5 seconds and then I restarted myself. My Dr said I should have a pacemaker installed. I did and am now on pacemaker #2 (the first one had an internal problem). Anyway, since I had the first pacemaker installed, the pacemaker has ne...

Grr.

Ok, you know the Holter and the blood test I had done? Well, I was supposed to get the results no later than this week, but nothing. What should I do- call, wait?????????????????? Anyway, just don't want to sound pushy and I don't want to seem like I don't care. Oh yeah, my stress level is through the roof again because I'm taking the PSAT today and on top of that I have a cold/ allergies and that dumb adrenaline rush feeling again. I wish my test results would come back- I'm tired of feeling li...

great news about lead and question for Electric Frank

Went to my EP yesterday for check. Concerned about lead because I had been told the lead wire could cause wear (and trouble) from swimming by cardiologist. My EP did a PM check and found I have 7 years left on battery...was 5 years at last check. Thats my good news, and even better was being told that there was no wear to my one and only lead and to enjoy swimming as much as I want. The lead wire was not at all tight and lots of coil in the wire. My question to you, Frank, is that under lead su...

Worried - Now

I really don't know what tothink when someone tells me that the thing that keeps me alive is in going to kill me? I am 100% dependant and without ventricular pacing would not be around to complain, however now I have to worry about my family losing me ealier than maybe they would have because of this thing. Sorry, but I don't always handle this well and don't need bad news that I cannot change. Please be more sensitive to what you say, be it fact or not. Thanks for making my day!!!

Battery condition.

I had a phone checkup this week and just got my copy of the report in the mail. (I have them trained to mail it to me immediately). All is looking very well other than that the battery life is down to 1-2 years. Time flys. I've had mine for almost 4 yrs so the 5 yr average is catching up.
I have one more phone checkup in Jan and then an office check in April.

The reason for writing all this is to share my plans at the next office visit. I will let them know that I expect to hav...
