I read with interest

Sandra's posting about ICd's and Pace makers ..and it is nice to know it seems to be working well for her, and also noted Dominique's response... Hi Dominique!! I have Dilated cardio myopathy and had an ICD implant because I was at risk of SD.

I just wonder since my heart is all over the place all of the time why do they not pace my heart with one of these dual bits of kit... I guess there must be a reason... but I never seem to get an answer from the meds... perhaps some one here co...

Drugs (Sortorol) and working out

I wsa recently place on Betapace to help control my Vtachs and either it's in my head or the betapace is lowering my capacity to workout. I still do my normal workout (1 hr 5 days/week weights, heavy), but have noticed I feel more winded as well as I know my pulse is lower than it used to be. It also immediately falls off.

Anyone have experience with these types of drugs and exercise? I'm going to work my normal pace for a week or so, then communicate with my PE about it's effects. I'...

PM & Pregnancy

PM and Pregnancy

I finally got the go ahead to have a baby! I am super excited yet scared. Evidentially, Coreg is a drug that can be taken during a pregnancy so that is a huge relief!

I can guarantee that I will have the only baby in town run on my pacer! Wild huh?

Has anyone out there gone through a pregnancy with a PM?

it's a great day!

My cardiologist had concerns about my 3month old pm having a loose lead, and x-ray results came back. My pm is securely anchored with necessary slack (for my swimming) With ten children and 23 grandchildren praying for me, it had to good! So happy that I posted a picture this morning taken Christmas about 40 years ago with my family. I am holding the youngest. Thanks to all of you for all your positive thoughts. They have helped so very much. Christmas Eve I will be celebrating my 80th birthday,...

Sleeplessness & Recovery

6 weeks in to a PM for slow heart rate and long pauses(syncope) difficulty sleeping and anxiety, not anywhere near vigorous exercise I was doing before. EP, Cardiologist, Internist all say sleeplessness is anxiety so gave me some meds for sleep/anxiety. Anyways I think my low end is set at 60bpm...If my sleeping rate was lower before could the sleeplessness be because the low bpm(6) is set to high ?

Lastly I have tech's and EP's telling me 6 weeks I am good to resume everything vs. s...

robotic lead placement

Hello, I just discovered the PM Club website, and after reading around some of your posts, I decided to join.

I am 51, and I got my ICD in March 2007. I'd only been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy (which they said was most likely caused by a virus that attacked and damaged my heart muscle) in October 2004. The first time my cardiologist mentioned the word pacemaker (about a year after my initial diagnosis), I cried. They said the cardiomyopathy, coupled with a left bundle block arrhy...

2 separate conditions

I joined this group a while ago and this is the first time I am posting something. I went into cardiac arrest in April of the year. My husband started CPR and my son called 911. It took 29 minutes to revive me and I was in a coma for 2 days. I am know doing very well. I received my ICD 3 days later. I have 2 separate conditions. First I have LQTS and am going through genetic testing. Second I have dilated cardiomyopathy. I new I had a enlarged heart just didn't know what it was called tell I we...

Well I just got some news that I was waiting for, however I wasnt ready for it. My EP doc that wasnt for me getting a PM told me he is leaving it up to me! Im in total shock. Yeah, I knew this was comming, but I didnt know what I would do about it. He uped all my meds and told me to think about it and get back with him. I feel horrible w/ all the meds and I dont want to rely on them forever, but then again once i choose the pm I cant go back. He said the PM would help alot but he is worried abou...

Technical Question re: AV Delay

Hi all, I have a question regarding AV delay and I hope someone can explain it simply to me and how it might be impacting what I feel when the PM kicks in. (Sorry up front for the long post)

History:Medtronic Sensia Dual lead for 2nd Degree AV Block, old Dx of Inappropriate Sinus Tach, and sprinkling of PAC/PVC's. Pacing about 3% of the time. Low rate set at 50. Don't know enough to include what might be other pertinent info.

One Last Surgery

Hey Everyone,

So I just wanted to let you know that I am getting ready to have Surgery #6 in January. This time it has nothing to do with my heart, amazing isn't it.

During a routine check up they found another Birth Defect called Intestinal Malrotation. To prevent me from having an emergency operation to fix this if my gut ever turns they decided to fix it now.

I honestly thought I was all done with Surgery and any medical problems when I had my pacemaker put b...

Work after surgery

Hey all,

I have a question about returning to work after surgery. My dr. mentioned I could go to work the next day after surgery if I wanted. I want to take things slow as I'm sure I'll be very sore, so I'm taking five days off (six if you include Christmas) plus the weekend. My job is pretty sedentary (I'm an accounting supervisor), but I will have folders to carry back and forth. What experiences do you guys have with going back to work that soon? Did you feel motivated to work...

I have a well tuned pacer. I hardly know I have it. I am 76 year old, hike and camp alone in the desert. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. The only problem is my wife wants to have a knob installed so she can turn the pacer down.
