Im 25 and need a pacemaker soon. Had open heart two years ago to remove a tumor and now my heart is having problems beating when it should. Just had an EP study last night to confirm the need of the pacemaker. I should have had it put in today, but jus wasnt ready quite yet. I have a wonderful husband and a one year old son. I know I really need to have this done sooner than later, but just feeling a little overwhelmed.

I have my pacemaker due to atrial fibrillations. This is my second St. Jude. It supposed to be set so that when I am active, the beats will change. I have noticed that I will be doing nothing and it will be 89. I can walk a few blocks at another time and it is 70 which is the base setting. I called St. Jude and they said 89 bpm is ok. This wasn't normal me prior to pacemaker - I am sure. Does anyone else have the same issue? Thanks.

Hello everyone, I hope this is an ok place to post this. My name is Anthony and I'm 28. I got a dual chamber medtronic pacemaker put in on Sept 29 for sss. I previously had tachycardia and was ablated two times which put me into brady. I don't know anyone with a pm so I didn't know anyone to ask about some things and am glad I found this place. Right out of getting home I had to go back from having breathing problems which turned out to be pleurisy. Which is still no better and hurts like heck...

Ive been plagued with very low blood pressure for some time now. My systolic pressure can and does get down into the 50s with some regularity. (56/38 is not an uncommon reading)
My doctor has prescribed Midodrine 5mg - 4 times daily and doesnt seem too concerned.
I would like a little more aggressive treatment as it has become a really a troublesome spot in my life; interfering with my daily activities and my ability to carryout even simple tasks at times.

Teresa,
I'm in South Georgia, Moultrie to be exact. I drive to Atlanta which takes about 4 hours to see my EP doc who is affiliated with Piedmont Hospital.
His name is Dr. Andrew Wickliffe. He graduated med school in 1998, and has 10 years experience. He's accepting new patients and his group, Cardiology of Georgia, was ranked # 1 in customer satisfaction. His staff is wonderful as well, and to be honest I haven't encountered anyone affliliated with Piedmont that wasn't pleasant. They...

33 year old, 2 months post implant, and my EP doc can't believe the results. He says he's going to use me as his Pacemaker Poster Child, because everyone always thinks that pacemakers are so awful. I guess he considers me as a living example that they are not. I'm glad he thinks of me that way. Hee, hee.
I could not have achieved this "poster child" status without the help and support of this site.
My doctor is also admiring his handiwork as my scar is only 1 inch long. I told him that...

Hi everyone! I have a quick question. Since receiving your pm has anyone experienced high blood pressure? My BP was always low 94/64 ish, since pm its running 160/89 up to 183/98. I started exercising about 1 1/2 months ago, walking 1-2 miles and doing various workouts on the gym machines. I don't take any prescription meds. However i do take calcium w/d, B complex and estroven. Any insight would be appreciated. I have a drs appt Oct 7 with the pm tech so i'm keeping a log to show him. Th...

I enjoyed the postings about the cute doctors, my grandson (6 yeasr old) told me this, I had never heard it before so I wanted to share it. It works for both guys and gals.

Hi Pacer Chicks and Guys.... Just keeping in touch... I am in Denver Colorado now... it has been a beautiful late afternoon flying... the sun should just be going down as we leave for San Francisco in about an hour. I have developed a pain in my neck and would love to have a nice massage, but I don't see any big strong guys around.... darn the luck!
Getting searched proved to be quiet the experience. I am quite used to it, but when they get to the tushie.... I always laugh out loud as I am...

Hey guys, it's me again. Ok, I have a few things for this post. First of all, I love the nickname ladies with pacers have... PACER CHICKS! I like to think of myself as one. :) Second, I heard that when you sneeze, all your bodily functions stop. Then I thought that if this was true, then ICDs may go off. THEN I thought that it was only like a spit second so maybe not. Last, I was thinking that Dick Cheney should join and be put on the Famous Member forum. LOL! K, that's enough rambling for now.....

After having a few days of feeling a bit...... eryukkk! I decided to go into chat last night.... normally I am the one who warbles the song.... " All by myself - dont wanna be All by myself... la la la " you know the song - Celine had a go at bashing it out a few years back! (I can't sing a note - hence the empty chat room!!).
Anyway I was thrilled to chat with the Usual Suspects plus a new girlie Alice G - who was feeling a bit nervous about going to the hospital today - we had a...
