HEAVY METAL POISONING

My father had a documented allergy to potassium dichromate (hexavalent chromium VI) and his cardiologist and pacemaker company rep overlooked this allergy (documented on his medical record) and installed a pacemaker that contained this poison. My father over the past couple of years experienced classic symptoms of heavy metal poisoning and was treated for each problem as it occured by the appropriate MD.
1) 6 months after implantation of the PM Dad experienced bilateral leg rashes/ezema-...

Vasovagal syncope

Hi......I've asked everyone with an MD behind their names; maybe you guys know more. (Medtronic pacemaker since 1994) Every so often, I pass out--always know it's coming, and I lie down quickly. There is no "coming back" but a progression to hours on the floor, seizure activity, and a trip to the E R. I've seen everybody in Cardiology, and even Neurology, all say can't see anything wrong. Anybody know from experience or hearsay what's going on?
Thanks for listening.
Jackie

Pacemaker implant question

I am wondering if anyone has experienced extreme pain in their left armpit down to the elbow after having pacemaker implant? I am experiencing this pain for two weeks now after implant. Also, I seem to have quite a bit of uncontrolled bleaching! I am also wondering if riding on a rough bumpy road has bothered anyone after pacemaker implant... making their chest feel funny or causing bleaching? Thank you !

Right ventricular vs. biventricular pacing

Hi!

The two year outcome of the PACE study testing right ventricular apical pacing vs biventricular pacing have been published recently. It shows that the ejection fraction (EF) decreases in patients with right ventricular apical pacing, and not after many years of pacing, but after one or two years already. You can read about the study at:

Spasms or VVI?

Early Saturday morning my heart began acting up; at first I thought it was spasms. I couldn't go back to sleep so I stayed up, seem that the spasms went away once I stood up. Now comes the next night and I have to try and get some sleep. I lay down the same thing happens, spasms again! I get up and try to determind what it can be, I lay back down and again my heart starts to spasm. I call my Electrophysicologist on sunday and I tell him I think my pacemaker has gone into VVI mode. This is a mode...

Does anyone know if you can be allergic to your pacemaker? I have not felt right since box change in Feb. Nobody seems to know why. No energy, sinus pressure and pain, spaced out feeling, which all seem to come and go intermittendtly.

Turning over in bed raises HR

My lower rate is set at 65. In bed, when I turn onto my right side with a quick movement, my HR jumps from 65 to 138. This also happens when setting down in a chair too hard or when riding over a wavy (bumpy) road in my car. Then it takes several minutes for my HR to go back down. Is anyone else having this issue?

Pacemaker v Alien

So I have had a problem with my PM for the past few months. It started as a small bruise, but has developed and it is quite obvious that the box is migrating its way to the surface of my skin. I can only imagine the end result a scene similar to Alien.

Anyway, I saw my Electrocardiology and he was disturbed. He says it sometimes happens (I obviously missed the mention of pacemakers rupturing out of the body in the small print). He said it is because the site was infected with...

my daughter

Hi folks, I just wondered if anyone else has experienced anything the same as my daughter. My daughter is 11 years old.  In February of this year she had her 3rd pacemaker fitted for complete heart block, it’s a single chamber pacemaker she has.

After the operation her recovery was slow; she gets breathless more and is really tired.  4 weeks after the new pacemaker she collapsed at school with a seizure.  Since then she has symptoms of partial seizures many times...

Did I hurt my pacemaker????

I was climbing a mountain today and slipped face first onto big rocks. I felt the big rock hit me right where my pacemaker was put in. It also sounded like it hit my pacemaker.

Can my pacemaker be damaged?

Help with a Term

I had a Medtronic Revo put in last Friday morning to correct a Type 2 2nd degree AV Block.

I was perfectly fine for a few days but started having symptoms again 5 days later. I went immediately in for a check, and the Medtronic rep kept telling the EP nurses that I was "wikibauking" I know that's not how you spell it, but that's how it sounded. This was my 1st check and I was so overwhelmed that I didn't ask for more info.

They changed almost all of the settings and sent...

Worried About Pain and Soreness

I don't know if this is considered a complication or not but that category seems more appropriate than any of the other choices. Having said that, here is my concern: I got my PM on May 9th, so a little over three months ago. I will be seeing my cardiologist on Aug. 31st but wanted any feedback possible to decide whether it is something to just deal with until then or if I should call now. I have an achy type of pain that starts to the left of the PM and runs over into my left armpit. The a...
