Did I make my cardiomyopathy?

I had my pacemaker in 1992ish? I had multiple meds and ablations for Heart rates into the 360's, PSVT, IST, PAF etc. On meds heart rate sometimes down into 30's at sleep. I saw everyone from age 15 for opinion and 3 out of 6 wanted to ablate and pace if necessary. On meds my heart rate was nearly 200 constantly while awake and bouts at sleep. I had multiple ablations and then agreed to an AV ablation and pacemaker which I believed meant no more arrhythmia. Now that I have such asynchrony,...

heart rate and blood pressure

are always the greatest after waking up in the morning. I got a PM implanted 6/7/11 for a slow heart rate. It often dropped into the 30s at night.

I take my blood pressure and heart rate several times/day, every day. I find that when I wake up my bp and heart rate is the highest of the day. BPs run 130-140/75-85 anf heart rate is upper 70s or low 80 when I wake up.. BPs after this (at noon for example) run 120-130s/70-80s, h-rate runs low 60-70s. Does this make any sense? My...

Infection and venous occlusion

Hi there, I'm really keen to hear from any of you that have had pM infection and/or venous occlusion caused by the lead replacements. I'm currently struggling with both after a replacement atrial lead and battery in march this year. Has anyone been treated for them? I'm currently awaiting my cardiologists decision on treatment.

Many thanks

Irregular and fast heartrate.

Hi everyone, I had my pacemaker on 29 January 2008. The problem I have is irregular fast heartbeat. I have these episodes almost every month, and it lasts for about 8 to 12 hours. I have had two this week. They started about a 12 years ago. I saw a Cardiologist last August and he said that I should take 50 mg flecainide when these attacks start and no more than two during the episode. He said he would see me in six months I have as of today not received my second appointment with him. Ju...

Pacemaker Blues

Hi,

I was a pretty active 60 year old male who delighted in running 10 km races till Feb 1/11 when I got a pacemaker. I've had to have wires repositioned 2X. I suffer from chest pain due to unkmnowm triggers and seem to have difficulties with the pacemaker being properly set dispite being told all is well. I may also have had a bad reaction to meds( metropolol ). I've gone from feeling like 35 to feeling like 80 and being happy to walk 2 km. I did experience 2 relatively stable month...

Feet Feel Heavy While Walking

I am an 87 year male and have been exercising since my teens.I now walk on a treadmill 5 days a week for 1 hour and have done so for years. On 3-29-11 while on my treadmill my pulse went up to 165 and stayed there(I have a Polar Monitor). I went to my doctor who is a cardiologist. He told me I had an electrical failure. The next day he put in a 2 lead Boston Scientific pm was installed by him. Easy surgery, took 37 minutes total. The unit works on both movement and pulse. The company rep made ne...

New to this pacemaker stuff

I would think that I was born with this disease. I have CAD (in a bad way) I have had two heart attacks, two open heart surgeries (CABG). The first being in 1999 when i was only 39 yrs old. I had 5 bypass grafts done at that time. 7 yrs later I had a single bypass on my LAD. I have over 10 stents in my arteries (i've lost count) Some being just the plain stainless steel ones. And some are the medicated ones. One week before I was scheduled for my pacemaker surgery They found a 75% blockage in or...

Pacemaker Wire in Clavicle Bone

I'm new to the club and hope someone might be able to help me. My pacemaker was inserted May 2011 and works great. But a month ago I was hospitalized with bloodclots in my left arm. Tests showed I am not prone to bloodclots, but scans showed that the pacemaker wire was run through my clavicle bone, and this caused a narrowing of the vein that caused the clots. This also explains the pain I had in my left shoulder since it was inserted. The doctors have given me some options but neither sound...

Fiddling with unit while asleep

My mother was rushed to hospital and had to have her pacemaker put in again after only 3 months from the initial implanting. The doctor said she must be turning the pacemaker during sleep.

Is there something she can wear at night which would prevent this?

Pacemaker vs. Defibrillator

I had a Pacemaker put in November of 2010. My Doctor now says that Pacemaker's sometimes weaken the heart, and wants to take the Pacemaker out, and put in a Defibrillator. Is it true that a Pacemaker can weaken a heart? I have Congrestive Heart Failure, and A-Fib. I had a stroke in April of 2010. I also have Mitral Valve Prolapse.

Nearly fainting

4 months ago I had a pacemaker fitted and all seemed ok - to start with. Then I had some near-fainting episodes and the tech doctor changed the settings to not allow any missed beats - that was a month ago. Last night I had some fainting 'feelings' whilst in bed. Today I have had 4 fainting 'feelings'. Will I need another 'top-up' on the pacemaker timings? It's too late today, it's the evening here and tomorrow we go to pick up two friends. I am happy to live with this for a week until I can ge...

Shoulder pain/limited movement

I had pacemaker/defibrillator implant Dec.2010, had to go back March 2011 for lead revision. Both times I followed orders to not raise arm above shoulder height (five weeks then four weeks) The lose of some movement might be expected but I am experiencing pain in the shoulder joint and extending to above the elbow. I don't have to have much movement to create excrutiating pain for a few seconds. Also my arm movement has been limited. Has anyone had any problems like this? Would appreciate some...

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!
