Hot Spot over PM

My PM was put in on April 6th. The doctor used the new antibiotic coated mesh envelope (pouch) to put the PM in. The treat mesh device is supposed to help fight infections.
I have real heat over my PM. I feel it and the site is still very sore. Is this normal.
A St Jude tech felt the heat & said maybe the PM making the heat. I saw my EP Tuesday and he felt the heat, told me it was not the PM. Yes, he agreed that the area was very hot but he seemed confused. He did blood work on me, SE...

Migraine and Pacemakers

Thank you all for responding to my question about my fractured lead. They were most helpful. I am so glad that I found this site, that is active.

I am wondering if any of you experienced what I did. After I had my pacemaker implanted in April 1993, I began to have migraines in June of 1993. Prior to that time I had never had a migraine, or even a headache. All of a sudden I was having frequent migraines--up to 18 a month. Have any of you noticed this with your implantations?...

Atrial Noise

I am new to this site. Although I have had a pacemaker since 2003 and have had it replaced just last year I have never really been on the web regarding it. I now am having complications with my pacemaker, Atrial Noise. This in turn is making my pacemaker record over 19000 episodes of atrial fib that I am now on meds for. I have been told that I may in fact not have atrial fib at all, just the atrial noise. My pacemaker moved from the pocket into my armpit, very close to it. Every time I push inw...

daughter's implant

Has anybody ever heard of a hospital ever putting in an incorrect pacemaker?  My daughter had a ddd pacemaker put in at 18 months, at 24 months it was realized that it wasn’t helping as anticipated so they went bi ventricular pacing which in turn helped out great, her cardiac output improved greatly, she had great energy, she went through multiple surgeries and did great, then at the age of 8 she was due for a replacement due to battery life.

For some reason they wen...

asked dr. about complications

So I am new here and trying to accept that I need a PM due to failed tilt test, history of syncope and dropped heart rate while fainting. So I spoke with my dr. today and asked some questions regarding complications. Was told that there could be bleeding around heart and infection ( but will get IV with antibiotics) but confused about this. She said the next day I will have chest X-ray to see if lungs stay inflated. I should've asked her why but was overwhelmed.
Could anyone explain about t...

Storms?

Just wondering if anyone other than me has experienced a storm? I was "hit" 55 times in one hour and twenty minutes, the last 27 where at full voltage. The PM is a St. Jude That was put in on April 05/11 and the storm occurred a week later. I walked upstairs for supper and it started.
Apparently the unit expended 6 months battery while knocking hell out of me. The prognosis does not look good for all I can find but my one doctor is blowing sunshine up my kilt. Any first hand informati...

Flutters in chest

I had a Medtronic pacemaker inserted two weeks ago. Since then I feel strange fluttery movements to the right of my sternum when I am lying on my right side. They occur at irregular intervals and are not painful, just disturbing. Has anyone else experienced this feeling after having a pacemaker implanted?

More Lead Wire Fractures

My PM was implanted in September of 2010. After only 7.5 months it appears my Ventricular lead is defective. I have St. Jude 1688 tc which are silicone coated leads.

History - I was very careful for first 8 weeks, then started working out easy to prep for ski season. Skied around 40 days and snow shoe hiked a few times, all with no problems. Once skiing was over, I hit the gym seriously in April. Started having irregular rhythm during workouts. This worsened with each workout and...

PM infection

Hi, had my PM just over 3wks ago,my GP thinks i have infection and has done a blood test to check white blood cells and has put me on antibiotics.  If it is infection, he says the chance of tablets working are not high and l may need to have them intravenously and worst prospect is removal of PM. If there is no infection l have to have a scan to see what is causing all the swelling and discomfort.

I would really really appreciate advice from any of you who have been in a similar...

should i worry????????

Hi.

I just found this website when browsing.  I’m 17 and had my pacemaker fitted August 2005.  I had lots of complications in the first couple of years, but now everything is basically working out.

But I’ve started getting pains after I wake up and it aches when I touch below my shoulder (place of pacemaker). Unlike most I’ve heard about, my pacemaker didn’t go down as much as it should.  Should I worry that I’m ...

device moving into breast

I am 38 and one week ago had a pacemaker/defibulator implanted. 5 days after the procedure, I still had tremendous pain and noticed my left breast had a huge lump in it. Went to the Dr. the next day and the lump was actually the device. It had slipped out of the pocket...and now sits in my breast betwwen the top of breast and nipple. They are trying to tell me that it will heal and fix itself and move back into place. My husband says he thinks they are just making light of a complication that th...

Low Blood Pressure and Meds

I was stage 4 CHF, recently had a PM/Defib put in and given the usual scripts that lower blood pressure. The problem is, I have low blood pressure to begin with and when I take the meds, I get readings like 75/55. Doc says don’t take the meds if my BP is under 90 on the systolic.

So now, I do not take the meds and have started taking CoQ10, 200 mg.  I read some really great things about this stuff.  Anyone out there with results from CoQ10 and do you see the problem w...

Help with Vasovagal Syncope please!

Hi, Had a PM fitted last October for AV Block. Was also tested for Vasovagal before it was fitted, two days before. I'm vasovagal as well it seems. I just thought I was one of those people that just faint at the sight of blood etc.

I read with interest on this site that others have had a PM fitted because of vasovagal syncope, and a PM helps with this condition. I've been told by my UK Docs that my PM for AV Block wont help with vasovagal syncope. I'm left wondering why! Does a...

Not Helping

I have had my bladder pacemaker for about 4 years. All of the sudden, it is not working. I used my programmer and turned it up a little bit. That hasn't worked. It went from .8 to 1.4 I can't go any higher because I don't like to feel the stimulation. I have to go to the bathroom about 50 times a day. (Not lying) and it feels like something is pushing against my bladder making me have to go. Also, it feels like something cold is pushing it when I go and its really weird. Any advice?

Pacemaker & Bisoprolol ?

Hi,

I have a pacemaker to deal with occasional instances of atrial flutter and presently take 2.5mg of Bisoprolol daily (recently reduced from 5mg). I have had my condition for 11 years.

For the past 10 months A have developed a wheeze, worse at night. Have recently undergone sinus surgery in the hope of relieving the condition of post nasal drip, but to no avail - wheeze still present. My doctor thinks it might be a reaction to Bisoprolol - any views on whether it is nec...
