I have had my PM for 1 1/2 years now. It seems that I now have a cholce to make and I could really use some advice. I know that I should call my EP, I am hesitant at the moment.
For the past year and a half, my PM was set to
DDD mode where it paced my ventricle due to intermittent second degree heart block. I recently wore a monitor for two weeks and found out that I feel pretty good with the PM set in VVI or as I like to call it "backup mode" with the PM set to kick in if my...

Thanks for the response to my inquiry.
I found out today that my PM will not be inserted untill next Friday, instead of tomorrow (doctor is sick).
One more question. My regular cardiologist told me I would probably stay in hospital overnight, however, the cardiologist doing the insertion says no, unless there is some complication. What is your experience with this?
Thanks, Doug

Several have asked about the procedure of implanting a pacemaker. I just ran across the surgeons O.R. report that took a bit of doing to get. Though you might be interested.
DESCRIPTION OF PROCEDURE: After informed consent was obtained, the patient was take to the operating room where the area in the left clavicle was cleaned and prepped. A venogram was done to locate the left subclavian vein. Needle, wire, then introducer and then pacemaker wires were introduced into the left subclav...

Hi, I am fairly new to this site. I had my pacemaker implanted on the 4th of December afte I collapsed at work. I've been doing fairly well and was back at work a week after I collapsed.
I had so many plans in life but now I'm wondering if some of things that I wanted to do would be possible with a pacemaker.
The one thing I've always wanted to do is go skydiving. Does anyone know if this is allowed?
Thank you,
Beverley

Hi, I have had my pacemaker for 3 years this month! I have had many good days with the pacer.
I have reduced the stress in my life by changing jobs 2 times. I have a very good job now and I like what I do. My heart had settled down after the PM implant and overall I have felt that I have adjusted quite well.
Here is the problem... lately I have been very stressed. It is effecting my heart and how the pacer works. I feel these large heavy beats and I feel my chest...

A few months ago I posted about a devise called a remote assistant which I was told to use any time that I got that weird dizzy feeling. No one seemed to understand what I was talking about. Anyway, every couple of months I have a bad day with 5-6 "events" and I was supposed to carry this devise around and press a button on it and hold it against the PM so that it would keep a record of heart tracings for 3 minutes around the time of the event. Well last week I had one of those days. The first 2...

I will have my first pm 'installed' this Friday. Just wanted to ask a question of anyone which may have info about. My bp is around 45 and lower and I have experienced a shortness of breath since the low bp (too much medicine?) anyway, has anyone else experienced this and if so, did it subside once the pm was put in?
Thanks, Doug

HI Everyone,
I have had to be on light duty at work because of what the Drs. think might be a torn rotator cuff. Since I am on light duty ( I am a Preschool teacher) I do things like paper work.
My question is...will doing a lot of coping at one time affect my PM? I know there are certain things we are supposed to stay away from but...wasn't sure about a coping machine.
God Knows...I don't want to find out the hard way.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hey again. I just read the post about lightening, and I can sort of sense it. What a weird sensation! Anyway, I was wondering if anyone can sense TVs? It feels so weird... the hairs on my neck stand up and my skull feels like it's buzzing. I usually roll my shoulder so when there is someone nearby they ask what is wrong. It's kind of embarrassing.

Can anyone sense lightning with their PM? I can, I have a weird feeling surging in my arm and chest, this is for very severe and strong lightning. Just curious if anyone ever felt the same..

A friend I made in hospital bought a blue tooth device to fit in his car. I have never had one of these devices and I know nothing about them. He said it enables him to talk to his mobile. Howver he has sent it back and had a full refund as every time he swiched it on in his car it made him feel dreadful and was interfering with his ICD pacemaker. Any comments
Peter
