I too was one of those people that was passing out after I got my PM. I had just posted as VERY DISCOURAGED. I was just readmitted to the hospital last week for passing out twice. They have now readjusted my PM and set my pace at 70 but when I get up and start moving around it is set to jump up to 100. They also found that my potassium was a little on the low side so they have me taking a supplement and want me to start drinking things like powerade or gaterade. I feel so much better. I'm not ne...

Had some nieces that were in the ER. Then had an ice storm. Then my brother invited me and my family to go on a cruise with him. It was my first ever cruise Did the Royal caribbean cruise to Jamaica and Grand caymans. OMG I never got patted down so much in my life as I did on that trip. They patted me from the top of head to my toes. I did learn something. Walking through the rainforest was really neat but there were lots and lots of steps. Thats the first trip I actually felt no stress and re...

Does anyone have or know someone that has both a pacemaker and ICD implanted? I understand that an ICD can act to assist in both fast and slow rates, but is primarily for fast rates.

Not that I'm planning on a life of crime, but what would happen to a PM if one were stunned? I saw a program demonstrating stun guns and watching the test guy wriggle around, it got me thinking.
As you can tell, I have a lot of time on my hands today. :)

Hi!
Is there any minimum natural heart rate required for the PM to be able to function? Maybe not, but if any of you know I will be very glad if you could let me know.
Thanks a lot, Ranjasg

Hello all.
When Peter Nash found out that CathrynB and her family were going to spend a few days in Colorado, he contacted me, thinking it would be a good opportunity for 2 pacers to meet each other.
I thought it was a great idea, and very thoughtful of him.
I got in touch with CathrynB, and she with me, and we took it from there.
We have made plans to meet in a restaurant in Westminster, Colorado, Monday, February 18, after she and her husband drop off their daughter b...

I have been experiancing a rather rapid heart-rate lately. My normal rate is usually anywhere between 60 and 75 bpm - anything over about 95 bpm makes me uncomfortable. I have been having bouts of a rapid heart-rate that seem to last from several minutes to an hour where my heart rate is over 120 bmp. I know that 120 bpm isn't all that fast, but for me it is extremely unusual.
When these rapid heart-rates occur, it causes chest pain and pressure, shortness of breath, and dizziness. It cause...

I haven't posted in awhile. I have been trying to deal with my anxiety and depression. My PM was put in June 12, 2007.
Shortly after the implant I began to drive again(felt so very strange); I use to drive everyday and before the implant I was homebound for three weeks.
Then, after I began to drive, it seemed like all the places that Mama and I went to before I became ill they didn't seem like the same places anymore since I was 'different'.
I began going back into th...

I got my pacer 2 years ago while on a vacation. I was subsequently diagnosed with NCS or VVS both the same and Bradycardia. I have read many articles on NCS since that time to get an understanding. Most articles say that an attack of blackout or pass-out usually lasts about 10 minutes. Then you wake back up and are tired but otherwise OK. That it is not dangerous except for the falling down or driving. NOT GOOD. Now here is what happened to me. My Doctor an EP who is very good could not tell me...

Im 10 weeks out and was doing ok had some small problems I have a lump under my armpit which they told me was a hematoma and some shooting pains that go from under my arm down to the palm of my hand. But now yesterday I passed again. Has this happened to other people? I'm getting so discourged, I thought the PM would but an end to all the passing out. The only bright moment in this is I found out my son who has Autism knew how to dial 9-1-1 to get help for me. He happened to be home sick from sc...

Hey everyone I was recently thinking that I would like to get a heart shaped tattoo around my pacemaker site. I am a little bothered by the scar and think that it might actually look pretty neat. I wouldn't have any ink coloring in the middle cause it would just ruin the tattoo when i have to have the battery changed so I was just wanted to see what you all though.

I am scheduled for a renal ultrasound after the date I plan to have PM put in. I had kidney cancer 8 years ago. All clear for 8 years, but have check-up each year. Can I have ultrasound after PM?
Also seems I read no MRI's? How about cat scans?

Hey Group,
Since I'm new to the club, I thought I would post a brief introduction.
I'm a 38 year old Dad of 3, and on the morning of Dec 30, my heart decided it was done doing it's job, and I went into cardiac arrest. God is good, and my wife got the EMT's to our house in a few minutes - about 10 shocks later, I was on my way to the hospital.
I spent 2 days in a coma, and thank God my cat scan came back clear - no brain damage. An MRI and angiogram showed that...

I feel so blessed to have this little gem implanted in me. When I think of the alternative it is quite overwhelming sometimes.
