Hi Everyone,

My Cardiologist has recommended cardioversion to regulate my atrial fibrillation.

My main concerns are, will this procedure affect my ICD/Pacemaker function, will the cardioversion work and/or would it make it even worse??

My General Practitioner doesn't really know!!

It would be great to have your feedback.

 Many thanks, Ozzie

Work as a Distribution Linesman

I am new to the site, and I am greatful I have found what seems ot be a great support system. A little about me first. I am 31, from Australia and in Feb this year (2017) I went into cardiac arrest at football training. CPR was commenced imediately, and an external De-Fib used which took 9 shocks to get my heart going again. I have had an ICD installed and my recovery has been great.

I am work as an electrical distribution linesman (powerlines which deliver electricity to houses). So my...

Who is sorry they got the CRT-D?

Just wondering who is worse and wish they NEVER had a CRT-D?  The 66% success rate is terrible.

I have complete LBBB, EF of 10%.(was 20% in September 2016) ...never told I had Heart Failure until last month when I was sent to a HF Clinic. Just told I had a "weak heart." by local cardiologist for over 20 years.

Can't take Beta Blockers or Spironolactone & many others.

Doing OK on Lisinopril and Lasix (was taken off Maxide after 39...

Icd implanted underneath the skin vs subpectoral

Hi folks,

How many of you have your device (PM or ICD) implanted underneath the skin or subpectoral? How do you feel in terms of carrying out activities or just try to live a normal life? Are there any issues in regards to skin errosion or wire protruding for underneath skin or other problems if put subpectoral? I would love to hear from you.

Thank you so much for your comments/ sharing info!

Disney World

I am getting ready to leave for Disney World and have just started reading so many conflicting opinions on ICDs and roller coasters. I had my ICD placed 2 1/2 years ago more for pre-cautionary purposes. It does not even currently pace, they will unlock feature when needed. One cardiologist told me I had no restrictions and to have fun. The second cardiologist cautioned me against roller coasters saying that they had had patients have near shocks due to the movement of the rides. I am so...

Breastfeeding with an ICD

I am almost 8 months pregnant with my 3rd child.  (Survived SCA due to vtach at 8 weeks along and got my defibrillator...)  The medications I am on are compatible with breastfeeding and I would like to have this experience with this baby as well.  That being said, had anyone breastfed with a defibrillator?  Anything special that I need to do or be concerned about?  And would a breastpump interfere at all with the device?  Thank you for any feedback/help! &nb...

new to this

hello,

I was a picture of health at 58 yrs young up until Jan 30th and started feeling light headed during workouts.

My doctor did a ekg and said it looked different than 5 yrs ago so scheduled a stress test.

Well 10 1/2 minutes into the test, my heart rate went from 160 to 240 and sustained Vtach for 10 minutes.

They ran every imaginable test and now I have this ICD in me due to none other than genetics.

This was and still is hard to except along with...

ICD is in, 3 days ago

Okay, everything went pretty well I think.  I find the site quite painful and it has a very deep itch. I am managing with the tylenol for pain though. I had two really crazy dizzy spells and I took my fitbit off (I don't know why I thought I needed it on) for now, at least until I get settled in.

I do feel a kind of comfort knowing that If I do get some "funny" spells like I do, then my ICD is my friend.

Thank you for everyone who has helped me.  I would ap...

Nuclear stress test and ICD

Prior to another ablation doc wants me to have echo and nuclear stress test. My ICD has been set at pacing at 125 bpm and shock st 150. At moment my heart can go into arrythmia just sitting at computer. It goes straight to 106-110 bpm and normally lasts for a few minutes. However lately it has taken as long as 3 days before cardioverting. No fun. Now I have insurance, doc wants to do another ablation with an impeller. I guess the stress test is done to determine if I need the impeller.

The superior vena cava sits just above the right atrium.  Mine has two wires passing through it which in the past 6-8 months have grown vegitation or scar tissue that has nearly 100% blocked my svc.  Normally this would just kill you but my body saw it comming and built or expanded my colateral circulation (back doors around the svc to the ivc or the inferior vena cava.  SVC  all the blood from both arms, head and neck go to the svc then to the right atrium and on ward to...
