My hobby is woodworking and I'm concerned the motors in my shop equipment will kick off my ICD. Are there any woodworkers out there with advice and experience on this?

I am a 59 yr old woman, born with a hole in my heart and a leaky pulmonary valve. I had surgery when I was 9 which seemed to correct my problems. However, in 1991 I started experiencing different sypmtoms. I had always had a very slow heart rate but it slowed even more to the point of my nearly fainting. I also have AF which I am in most of the time and because of it I have had many tias. All my valves are somewhat leaky but on the bright side, my cholesterol is very good and my arteries ar...

Hi Everyone
Well my story is this...I had my pm put in on 4/22/08 and went back in on 5/1/08. Two leads had come undone, I believe it happened an hour after my first surgery. I had a lot of bleeding so I had the doctor the nurse and the tech from the lab pushing on my chest (my pm) in order to stop the bleeding. So later on that evening I started having spasms in my right stomach, I was told by the nurses it was just gas. Some people experience gas after surgery. Well this went on...

I have had my PM for about a month now-the nurse practitioner decreased the sensitivity from 90-60 beats in 30 secs to 20 secs.Since then,I have felt awful, and had several near syncopal episodes, altered mental status, confusion.Has this happened to anyone else?

Hello, I am a new entrant to the club having implanted a V V I R pacemaker just 10 days back. I welcome the advice of older & experienced members.
Out of curiosity, I would like to know which side of the chest is best suited for my kind of device. My doctor insisted it on my right side & implanted there. Though it has little significance for me now, I am just curious to know.

Now 8 mos post pacemaker and doing well. The only thing that bothers me is the sensitivity over the scar. Looks like a keloid formation secondary to poor wound closure-my first pacemaker. My skin up to 2inches away from the scar has developed small superficial viens. My GP had suggested a steroid injection near the scar. Any suggestions?

Well its been 4 weeks post implant, and everything was going along fine, I even started to not notice the implant but the other night(1st time it woke me up and the 2nd time got up at 3am to go to the bathroom) my heart beat started to go really fast (same sort of feeling you get after going up several flight of stairs) and then it would go quite slow and then normal etc... This lasted both times for about 3-4 hours. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be happening
Thanks

Hi
Is there any techno people out there?
We are having an Audi A4 next week with the above sound system which has 14 high performance loudspeakers(505 watt) and 10 channel amplifier and my cousin (who also has a pc) has just told me that I'll be sitting in a magnetic field as each of the speakers has a magnet?????
His concern is because I'm the one who had the bad experience on the Airbus fly- by -wire aircraft.
Please someone knowledgeable tell me that he is wrong!

Hello everyone! I haven't posted in quite sometime. I was wondering if anyone has an Electrophysiology Study since receiving their pacers? I have had 5 EP studies but they were all before my pacer. They said that they can do the study through the pacer. I have been having frequent PVC's and short runs of v-tach per my pacer and been passing out. 2 1/2 weeks ago I passed out while driving. They said they will still sedate me and put an IV in. My question is, is it still as painful as the going th...

I finally met with another cardiologist. He said that he feels that if the medicine is not helping my only option to feel better at this point is a PM. I am scheduled for surgery next week and now my nerves are running on high octane. I am excited to feel better finally and have my energy back and I am also optimistic the surgery will go smoothly but still nervous

I want to jump! I want to shout! I want to hug you people out there! Thank you so much for your well wishes and prayers from all over the world...as far as I know, there are folks from Australia, US, UK...etc. Praise the Lord, I bear good news. My hubby Paul's histology report from a Professor of another hospital came back yesterday finally after almost a week( 2nd opinion). The rectal polyp that was removed is now confirmed that it has not breached the wall of the rectum, thereby making it a ve...

Hi,
does any one know if I can use the Wii fit board as it measures your bmi, and when i joined a gym they could not do it as it may have interfered with my pacemaker
You know you're wired when...
You have a dymo-powered bike.

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
