I received my pacemaker last Friday (12/28/07). All seems to be going well and I don't have much pain anymore. The printed guidelines I was sent home with (which are much less strict than most of what I am reading from others) indicate that I need to keep the incision clean and dry for one week. The incision is covered with steri-strips.
So can I shower tomorrow? I go for my check tomorrow afternoon, but I would REALLY like to take a real shower before I go. Think I am ok to do s...

well, today was one of THOSE days. it started off ok. today as you all know is the 3rd, so today my father gets his ss check and i always take him "shopping" which involves me driving, running in all the stores and him telling me what to get. lol and i'm not complaining about that, after all he's 77 years young and i am glad to be able to do this little thing for him. so, i pick him up (he lives with my daughter and her family) and off we go. here and there and pay his bills and such, well...

My Guidant Insignia I Ultra (model 1290) was installed on Nov. 21/07. Yesterday I went to the Pacemaker Clinic for a 3rd adjustment. The rate response feature was turned off to help quell the strong and almost continuous thumping in my chest that started after the 2nd adjustment.
Some other adjustment must have been made yesterday as now I have an unexpected problem. I am now setting off the anti-theft devices at the entrances/exits of stores. I went shopping today and the devices bee...

Hey everyone How is it going. I just have a quick question. Has anyone had a problem with static shocks, you know when you touch someone or something and get a little shock? Today I seem to have a lot of that going on. And you can see that im charged because my hair is going everywhere. I just want to make sure that its normal and there isnt anything wrong with my device. I know its silly but it is driving me crazy. I hope everyone had a great day.

medtronic lead recall/sprint fidelis
ICD Friends,
Since medtronic lead recall lately, I've been just waiting here patiently hoping that the alarm won't sound; Otherwise it's also hoping that the lead will not act up and fracture. It's all so stupid, we're so scared and because I've already had a lead replacement last year it's like "what now?" I'm numbed. Also, everytime you hear something sounds akin to the "beep" of the alert, you cringe in fear....what sort of life is this?
Anyone out there in the same predicamen...

Hi pacers!
I need your input. I am working on a product, along with an athletic trainer, that I made for my daughter who is now eight and has been pacing since she was three. It is a protective device/gear for when she plays sports. It is patent pending and we are in the marketing/devolpment phase. I have brought the product to both of her cardiologists(Columbia Pres. in NYC) and they both encouraged this product. I was wondering if you could give me feed back if you would use/need this typ...

Hello Slowhands....
In reply to your recent post about God.... I must tell you something. You crack me up! You come along and with a straight face (I'm sure) and tell people that you think that God is irrelevant. It takes a lot of guts to say something like that.
Considering you were a Math teacher and are probably a man (if I am mistaken may God please forgive me) your mind runs on a different track than the majority.
Here is my take .... You may voice...

I am so glad I found this site. I am 25 yrs. old. I don't know if anyone is familiar with POTS? Postural Orthostatics Tachycardia Syndrome?? Well, I have it. It was diagnosed about 4-5 years ago. Basically my heart beats to fast and they don't know why. I have been on Metoprolol, Toprol XL, Lisinopril, Cardizem, Bisoprolol, Propanalol, and now I am on Nadolol and midodrine. My question is I guess two things: Has anyone had a PM put in for tachycardia? Or, has someone had a PM for POTS? Any info...

Hello my name is Doreen and I had surgery for a valve replacement on Sept 11 th and then I had to have a pacemaker put in a week later after the surgery . Has anyone had this happen to them ?? After the surgery and the heart rate was very low they told my family that I may need a pacemaker if my rate does not go up . So after a week they implanted it , I wasn't very happy having to go back in the operating room again to say the least , but I have not felt good , I thought after the surgery I...
