PM going off

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if you can actually feel your PM going off? If you can Please tell me what it feels like.

I know I have had some sensations but not sure if it is going off or not.

I also would like to know if anyone has done a "Power of Attorney"? I have been thinking a lot about this lately and feel I should get one drawn up.

Thanks for your help

Gloria

Medtronic Lead Problem

I received a call from my cardiologist last week asking me to come into the office to get my lead checked as I have the serial number for the defective defibrillator lead. Of course I am concerned about having a fractured lead and I may choose to have the entire unit turned off instead of facing an "iffy" surgery.
Have any of you ICD owners gone for your initial appt. yet on the recalled lead? Are you choosing to have it replaced and what info did you receive that helped you make that deci...

Pacemaker and Wireless (WLAN) Interference

I just bought a new wireless laptop (with radar to detect wireless networks when I'm out in the real world), because you know, I just can't wait to go out and get all hopped up on caffeine at the closest Starbucks and Google the heck out of my new wireless laptop! LOL! I also bought a wireless router to set up a WLAN in my house to share my broadband internet connection with my laptop.

As soon as I set everything up and got it turned on and connected, my pacemaker went crazy!...

Life after implant

Well it's been one week today I had my Pace Maker implanted.
Haven't had any info from the Doctor that did the implant cause he has been off sick since. I sure am glad I don't get dizzy everytime I stand up but have a hard time slowing down, especially no driving for 12 days, feel like a caged lion. My wife is recovering from Breast Cancer which she had a Breast removed Oct 2006 and Chemo and Radiation but she has been a gem driving me where I have to go. Never had to have any pain medic...

High Anxiety

Hi PM pals,

Well, I am 5 weeks after surgery, and had my first check-up today. Or should I say, tried to? They were able to tune my pacemaker to a different setting, and could tell that everything was working, but they couldn't do a "interrogation reading" because I was so shook up, my heart rate went up to 113, I said to the Tech, please take it off (magnet) I have to sit up, she said "Janice, I haven't even did anything yet. That is your own heart rate." So apparently, they can'...

Aching left arm

I am a Newbie, but old (77). I am not very familiar with the terms used, so please enlighten me. I had a Medtronic two lead pm installed in December of 2006. It was done because my heart paused for several seconds while I was in the ER because of prolonged atrial fibs. It is my understanding that it only kicks in if my heart rate gets very low, about 40 I think. I am not sure about any upper limits.

I was in afibs about 60% of the time for 6 weeks after installation. Then the...

Help

Hi Evita,
I am brand new to this wonderful website, and I am also a Pacemaker patient. I thought I might be able to assist you with my situation as I am a full time flight attendant. I am very active and healthy. Surprisingly, I fainted three times in one day July '07. My husband rushed me to E.R. where I was diagnosed with Bradycardia & Sick Sinus. (My symptoms were very similar to your husbands.)
After my quick recovery time, my Dr. gave me the "thumbs up" to return to wo...

I am so excited about the PM club!

I am new to the PM club today and I must say very excited! After my first PM in 1999 I asked my dr if there was a support group of any type. He thought I was joking...not cool! What is cool is I found all of you--years later, but that's okay--I found what I knew had to exsist! Thank you for willingness to share your experiences and for your support I see in your responses. I hope I am fortunate to communicate with many on this site! My pacemaker changed my life in so many ways! It was like...

Introduction

Hello folks,
I am new to the forum but I have had a device implant since the early nineties. I received the implant when I was in my 20s due to an ablation procedure. I was a very active adult who occasionally experienced SVT with exercise.

I thought I would briefly share my experience since then. I should state that I do not have an ICD so the risk of shocks is not something I need to consider. I am primarily at risk for lead fracture or device failure, or device/lead-relate...

A Message to the Living

Good evening All,

I had my 3rd follow up today and rythem and BP are great. And to continue on this journey its time to say good bye for now. I have found that this is truely a life altering experience and I have found a very nice peace and calm with this. I have faced mortality unlike folks without their bunnies, and know what it means to be alive. To feel, to know that with each cup of coffee and each trip to the bathroom I am alive.

I am here and will be now fro many...

Not sure

Hi all,
I had my PM put in in Mar 2007.I am 38 YO M.
I have been told months ago that I can resume swimming but I'm too scared.Reason is, that when I put my arm out straight above my head (like I would if i were swimming)I can feel the bottom left conrer of my device down towards my armpit.Like its poking out .I really don't want to risk damage to wires etc and since i did not have an Xray directly after the op,I cant help but feel a bit unsure that the positioning is ok to swim.

Sensitivity setting

A while back I posted that rough roads were causing my PM's rate response to kick in while I was driving (an 18 wheeler). Today I went to the PM clinic and they changed to sensitivity from medium high to medium low.

Also noted was I had went for 4 1/2 months without any bouts of a-fib then had an almost 2 hour episode yesterday morning (I woke up to it) and one that lasted almost an hour this morning. This mornings bout had happened without my knowing it because I was asleep. I wonder...
