Polar heart rate monitor

I had been using a Polar heart rate monitor for years when going to Cardiac Rehab, Now that I have a PaceMaker I have wondered if it will effect the pacemaker. The Polar transmitter is a T-31 and is strapped around the chest and transmits a signal to a wrist receiver.

Pacemaker in For One week

Hi Everyone Allan (41) Edinburgh

Well One week has passed and I must admit each day i feel a little stronger.I am able to sleep partially on my right side but not for long.I am no longer sleeping in affternoons and my wound is very tidy but still a little tender but no more pain killers.
I must admit i am glad my pacemaker sight is still sore as it reminds me not to carry anything heavy with my left arm which is incredibly hard to do.

I have a twin chamber pacemaker wi...

Epicardial Ablation

Hi,
My ICD was inserted in 2002 and have had ever increasing VT episodes since then 5 resulting in shocks. Had two previous ablations which had limited success (each reduced VT episodes for 6-9 months only). A third ablation in July this year failed and in fact increased the episodes to daily occurances.

Last Thursday in Barts Hospital London I had an Epicardial Ablation ( www.medscape.com/viewarticle/458545 ), has anyone any previous experience of this type of procedure?

Intro

Hello Folks,

Im new to the PM Club. I've had a pacemaker since 1991 when I was 11 or 12. I'm currently 28 and I'm on my third pacemaker (installed last November).

I would love to meet other PM folks who are under 30 to chat with.

This last pacemaker install has thrown me for a loop personally. I haven't quite recovered mentally from the procedure. Possibly lead to a mild depression, but I work on it daily.

I look forward to hearing from others.

Lead letter -

My device was implanted less than six weeks ago - with - you guessed it - the potentially defective 6949 lead. I have seen several references to a "Dear Physician" letter that Medtronics sent to doctors in March of 2007 (six months prior to my implant) warning them of the higher than expected failure rate of these leads. I have not been able to find the content of this letter. Does any one know where I can find a copy of it? I am really distressed to think my doctor may have used these lea...

Help! I need an Opinion

Hello everyone I have a great dilema and I need some opinions. I have a pacemaker since 2002 and ever since then my life has been a total blessing. I have felt great other than having to deal with my rate response when I am driving. It activates when hitting bumps and makes my heart race. Well anyway it helped me when I was playing basketball so I never really complained to my cardiologist. Well because of insurance purposes I was forced to switch doctors and cardiologist. The new cardiologist s...

Question please re: Heart Monitor

I'm 3 weeks post-op for a Medtronic Dual Chamber Pacer. My question is regarding the safety in using a Polar heart rate monitor. I have the type that utilizes a chest strap for the sensors and the wrist-watch style read-out. Do you all think it is OK to use such a monitor or can it somehow interfere with the Pacemaker. I'm thinking it should be OK, and I really don't want to call the docs office with this question. I was told by the Doctor at my first check-up that I could walk on the tread...

Leads

I was checking my Pacemaker registration card and I see I have SELOS leads. 1 straight and 1 "j". I don't find anything on the Biotronik webpage indicating they are the manufacturer. Is anyone familiar with the SELOS brand?

Dr. Visit!

I went in today to what I was thinking was going to be getting placed on a medication to increase my blood pressure. That was not the case my blood pressure was high today. I stopped checking it because I just got lazy with checking it. I know in the mornings and late at night it gets low sometimes. He told me that he wants me to wear this 24 hour blood pressure monitoring. I had never heard of that so I get that tomorrow.
They then ordered me to have a test tomorrow on my left subclavia...

Newspaper Clipping FYI

Was reading the newspaper today and came across this little article and just thought I would share it. Doesn't really relate to me, but thought some of you might be interested in it.

Medtronic shares drop 12%

Just curious about Device Rep.

My PM was installed in 2002 and I have noticed that a lot of you have dealt with a device rep, or seen, talked to a device rep etc. I have never met a device rep nor did a device rep. explain my pm to me when I received one. My EP doc did all the explaining and put my fears to rest. Are device reps really needed, since they really don't know your history and the doctor probably knows just as much about the device as the Rep does? I would have more to say, but don't want to start a heated d...
