A 2½ pounds pacemaker?!!!

Hi Gellia.

I couldn't help but be shocked at the comment you made regarding your 1st pacemaker, implanted 32 years ago.
It weighed 2½ pounds? Would you mind elaborating? I'm very curious about how it felt, where it was placed, was part of it outside your body? etc.
Mine is a bit larger than the norm, but at about 3" long, and ounces in weight, the next time I have a complaint about how it feels, I'll remember how you must have felt, and feel fortunate about the advances made...

Hi everyone,

Just joined the club. Received my ICD in March, 2007. I'm not happy with it implanted subcutaneously. Hurts. Itches. Gets in the way. In Aug. I talk to the surgeon about the possibility of having it relocated under the pectoral muscle. Have done lots of reading about the pros and cons of the relocation. I've read a few postings from people who are happy with the ICD under the pectoral muscle. I'd really appreciate your feedback. Once the ICD is relocated, I know that the...

Sore throat

Hi all, four weeks since I had my op, not feeling bad on the whole except a feeling of tightness in my throat whenever I try to breath deeply or attempt any excersise. Did a little swimming this morning and that really set my throat off, quite painfull for 15 mins or so. Any advise on what may be the cause of it, I seem to remember reading other posts about the same problem.

Nearly Out of the Woods

My father who is 72 has had a pacemaker fitted on 13 June. He is doing well and has gone back to work, takes my mother shopping and is trying to live an active life. Unfortunately without warning he keeps experiencing going hot and slumping down this only last for a few minutes. When this happens his head goes forward and the colour goes out of his face.

Please could anyone let me know if they have experience this.

Thank you Debbie

Wishing everyone good health

All caps.....

Hi Everyone - Could everyone please not use all caps when posting messages? It is probably my years creeping up on me but I find it more difficult to read a message in caps as opposed to upper and lower case. Even my new glasses did not help! Oh, what the years can do to us. Thanks, friends.

I went. I'm done!

Just got my 6th pacemaker implanted. For all of you that have to go for generator failure surgery, I'm getting to be an "old hat" at it. Still it causes a bit of trepidation. Mine is now finished and it went great. This is my 6th in 32 years with a dual implanted 25 years ago. I still have the same old wires, too. So far, this was the easiest yet. They really have improved their methods of reimplantation over the years.
I have gotten alot of really great information on this site and...

More info about my case

Hello everyone...I thought I'd fill everyone in so far on what's been done. At little history first...

Current machine placed in May, 2006 under the muscle after previous one began attempting to leave my body in Dec 2005. That machine replaced another previous machine that began trying to leave my body in July 2005 only a few short months earlier. In both cases, infection was suspected, but could not be found despite extensive blood work (including cultures), x-rays, echocardiogram. I...

Advice please!

So I hope that one of you out can give me some advice and cheer me up a little. Most of you know my story by now. My last surgery was four weeks ago today nothing big just another ablation. So somebody please help me understand why I still feel no good. I still continue to have no energy in a way I think the doctors got my hopes up saying in two weeks your life should be back to normal and you can do anything.
I've been getting dizzy a lot more than I was, having a lot of spasms and its...

Latest Lamb News

Hi folks

Our little one passed away yesterday. We called her Bluey because she wore a blue jumper. The weather has been so bad cold and frosty and now it is wet with a bad wind chill factor.
The sheep actually belong to the farm next door. Each year they give birth in the paddock next to our house. It is like a birthing ward with Ewes grunting and groaning just like us ladies giving birth. As we can hear them at night I just cannot bear it when the little ones get seperated...

Still in hot pursuit...of a diagnosis

Hello again everyone! I am still trying to get a diagnosis for my arm swelling and pain. I have since graduated to increased pain meds including motrin and percocet taken together. The swelling is no different. Been to a second ER by pacer guy. The ER staff read the pacer doc's notes (which include his denial of pacer involvement in my symptoms which started after it was implanted) and went on that. I was sent home again with only additional pain meds....and, by the way, a documented fever now.<...

Free Replacement

My Grandfather was implanted a pacemaker from Shree Pacetronix, an Indian company almost 8 years back and is working fine.He wants to move to USA . I want to know if the pacemaker company's in USA also give Free Life Time Warranty replacement there on the Pacemakers implanted because the company in India does. If any one knows let me know as most of the companies do give Free Replacment in India but I think if you are living in USA or Europe they do not provide the same warranty. If they don't...
