Hello,
I have a new PM and need to continue welding. I read that welding should be 24 inches away from PM and if affected, that it is only temporary. How temporary it didn't say.
I want to know if anyone else has a problem welding. I needed the PM because heartbeat dropped to 39 beats/minute shown by holter monitor (much to my surprise).
If and when the therapist cures my shoulder pain, (which he thinks is a pinched nerve), I need to weld some.
Thank you for any input,

My 18 year old daughter has had a pacemaker since she was 3yrs. Her last pacer done when she was 12 has worked beautifully until this last 13 months. She is feeling the pacer pulse in her shoulder. Her cardiologist is concerned but they can find no reason for her to feel so much pain. Last night we took her to the emergency room, the pain was so bad she could hardly talk. The ER staff and cardiologist on call were completely stumped. Does anyone have any ideas or has this happened to anyone? I...

Last nite when I went to bed, I got a huge jolt in my chest, it felt like my heart just stopped and that maybe my pacer kicked in and started it again, has this ever happened to anyone else. The jolt was so big that my chest actually jumped........any comments on that one.

I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of electrolosis interfering with their pacer. I have been getting it for a few months and just began to wonder about it. I don't go back to my EP until June and didn't really want to wait to ask.

Hello all, just joined the group. Two short questions.I had my Medtronics Sensia L implanted six weeks ago.Do Medtronics do an info pack and is it available only in the USA? I am in the U.K. on the other side of the pond!
Any Ham radio ops on the list? I am still a bit concerned about the RF floating around when I operate on air.
Thanks in advance.

I just found this article. It says that ipods and other digital music players don't interfere with pacemakers. But, it does interfere with the equipment that interogates the pacemaker.

I had a dual-chamber pacemaker inserted in 2006 after a serious MVA with spinal cord injury. Since then, I've experienced an increase in irritability of the pacemaker with any movement of the left arm, activity, motion, driving on a bumpy road, mowing the lawn (riding mower), etc. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, how did your doctor help you resolve it?

Well I bough a new car on Friday and on Tuesday my alternator went out. I have heard that the Alternator would interfere with my pacemaker so I had the guy at discount auto parts bring the part out to my car and I had it put as far away from me as possible. Now my father in law swears that it does not have any magnets in it and that it does not put of a magnetic field so I was hoping maybe someone here would know if it was true or not.

Whoa... I went on a field trip to D.C on Thursday. Well, the first stop was the Holocaust museum. My mom chaperoned and she said she didn't think that the metal detectors would go off. They did, one big dude searched me with the wand thing, and let me go. Then we went to the National Archives. But that, I was smart and showed my card! Long story short- always show your card!

I've had my pacemaker for about 3 months now and had a strange thing happen the other night and wonder if anyone else has had this or was it just my imagination.
I was standing at the kitchen stove, about 3 feet away from the microwave with the microwave running - have been told by the pacemaker tech and others that microwave ovens were no longer a problem, I really wasn't worried about it, but while I was standing there I noticed a small vibration that felt like a slight "buzzing" in the c...

I haven't had any more problems since I got the pm. I was just interest to know. How much weight are you suppose to pickup with the pm in anyway.

Ok, I heard from ela-girl that a Wii's infrared will interfere with a PM. I'm not doubting her, but I just wondered if it was true.

I recently applied for a Corgi online. When the lady called me to talk to me about adopting the dog, I had to ask her to call me back because, I had my telephone appt. to check my pacer. It seemed like as soon as I said pacemaker, I didn't get the Dog, I just wondered if they declined me because of the pacer...........I will get a dog again, when i am ready, but I wonder if these special organizations who only rescue certain breeds, would cut someone like me out for having a battery in me.......

For those of you who dont know it was reported by Reuters that a study at the Cardiovascular Institute at Michigan State University of the effects of IPODS on pacemakers concluded the following. In most cases an APPLE IPOD held within 50mm of the pacemaker for 5-10 seconds interfered with its functioning. Interference was detected also at 450mm. In one case a pacemaker stopped fuctioning altogether. No other IPODS were tested. But we must conclude from this study that we should not buy or use an...
