I am about to get a pacemaker in two days at 83 years old. I'd like to know if anyone has had experience with pacemakers and antique automobile unshielded ignition systems.
This is a new experience and I don't know what to expect.
Thanks,
Al

Hello my husband has had a defibrillator since 2020 due to him having a cardiac arrest, By God grace I am a RN and I was not scheduled to work that night to perform CPR when he went into cardiac arrest. He's had the defibrillator for 3 years he's had no issues no shocks until now. Last night when we out of town in SC I sat in the car while he went into a Circle K store his defibrillator went off that was the first time it has ever went off. He walked infront of the self che...

I'm new here. I had my ICD implanted in 2021. I had multiple "therapies" in the month of December. With a little more research, I have been educated about the possibility of a false shock or not operating correctly due to the magnet field of other devices.
Has anyone heard of someone receiving a shock while getting a haircut from the clippers?
Thanks in advance.

Have had a 2 lead Boston Scientific PM for 8+ years now.
Ongoing problems with my bladder and constipation have my Dr askling if I want a referral for an Interstim device.
Anyone with a PM get one or been evaluated for one? If so, were there any concerns over interference with your PM?
TIA!

While on vacation this summer, I went go karting. I loved this as a young boy and thought it would be fun racing my wife and friends around the track. I was suprised that the motor really interfered with my pacemaker. It felt like I was at the pacemaker clinic when they test your device, but for a longer duration of time. My heart rate dropped and skipped some beats. It was a really strange feeling that stopeed as soon as I hopped out of the ka...

This morning I was abruptly awakened by a LOUD beeping noise coming from my ICD! It took me only a moment to realize my smart watch was the culprit. Not the watch itself, the magnetic band! Apparently I got it too close to my device and poor R2D2 wasn't happy. My guy wasn't very happy either, it beeps very loud and scared him half to death. It's not funny... but kinda funny.
So if you have an ICD and wonder about what it does with magn...

"If they can send a man to the moon..."
There must be a way to cary a cell phone (Google PIXEL 7)
in a man's jacket/coat left breast pocket without interferring with the pacemaker.
Is there a stick-on shield for the skin or
a pocket-protector for the jacket pocket
that will prevent cell/pacemaker interaction.?

Hello. I have a Biotronik implanted in April. I went to a Bryan Adam's concert three weeks ago, sitting near the front. As soon as the music started I realised it was a bad idea. I felt very disturbing vibrations coming up from the floor and got a marked tachycardia. My cardiologist thinks this was due to the pacemaker mistaking the vibration for extreme activity rather than an electromagnetic effect.
Has anyone experienced similar?

Yesterday, I received my pacemaker. My hobby is restoring old cars, so there is a fair amount of welding and cutting.
I've read about faraday T-Shirts and Hoodies, does anyone have a view concerning how effective a faraday T-shirt/Hoodie would be at protecting a pacemaker.
Another thing I read was "...twisting the wires together...." so does that mean you're twisting the ground cord and the welding cord around each other?

Hello, does anyone use the Abbott, FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor to monitor their glucose levels? Have you had any difficulties using it with your pacemaker?
Last night I changed my husband’s 14 day sensor, placing it on his left upper arm for the first time (at his request). My iPhone/FreeStyle App couldn't scan the new sensor and kept telling me to replace it. Eventually I had to remove the faulty sensor and to place a new on...

Hi everyone,
My PM is two weeks old now, and I'm happy to have found this site.
I have read here and elsewhere that the Fitbit Versa 2 does not contain a magnet. I have also read that wearables containing magnets or using bioimpedance technology might conflict with a pacemaker. Problem is where to obtain the tech specs??
I tried chatting with two different fitbit reps over two days, but the best info they can give me is to check with my doctor. Fitbit must possess...

Hello everyone! I am in my late 20s and got a Boston Scientific Sub-Q ICD implant. My EP doctor gave me the go ahead to ride roller coasters again, however my question is, has anyone risked riding a coaster with a magnetic launch. I love these roller coasters, and want to know if there is real risk of anything. Thanks!

I had a PM (bradycardia) installed Jan 20/22. It was intended to be a 3 wire cadliiac version. Setup was completed and I was sent home. During evening sleep I experienced a total body nerve event. Vibration lasted about an hour. Ambulance to hospital, reset PM. Experienced repeat event. Clinic was unable to set PM without causing various versions of . Decided to eliminate one wire from functioning. ( apparently it was having is...

I am noticing a signal interference in the bluetooth devices when I use them. I do have a CRT pacemaker that uses bluetooth signal. Do you all think the pacemaker could put out a signal that interferes with a bluetooth signal? I did try to research this myself but all the results focus on the bluetooth affecting the pacmake which is more important of course. I am mostly just curious.

I have had my pacemaker since 2019. I have total heart block. I just purchased a high end professional sewing machine. When I took it out of the box, it had a warning label for a strong magnet. I don't know if I can possibly allow proper distance from the magnet while sewing. I am also concerned with the amount of time I would be close to the machine while sewing a project. Do we have any sewers in this group that may have any information on if this type of magnet is strong enough to...
