Funny feelings

This is my second post.  Thanks to those who commented on my 1st post.

again I am only 7 weeks into my dual lead St Jude PM.  I have read a lot on the  Pacemaker.com forums and it seems there was a post about some PM’s being more sensitive than others to begin with.  I’ve read that the phone and I-pad are ok if they’re at least 6 inches away from the PM...and I try to remember that but sometimes I’ll notice I’m holding too close  an...

New pacemaker - dizzy spells

Hello,

I'm 38 and had a dual lead pacemaker fitted 3 weeks ago, thus I'm a new member here. My issue was that I was getting a couple of daily sinus pauses or gaps in my heart beat which were picked up on the ecg, with up to 7 seconds at a time. No heart deseases or heart block thankfully. I also have a lowish heart rate often in the 50's thus my PM is set to fire up below 40bps.

Pre-pacemaker the dizzy episodes tended to c...

Inconsistent Heartrate

I am a very active 58 year old woman who received a PM in late February 2020 due to Bradycardia and arrhythmia.  The PM is set to a minimum of 60 bpm.  While overall, I think things are fine, I've noticed lately that my legs are constantly tired and fatigued, I am having trouble catching my breath even after simple activities, my resting heartrate last week was consistently in the low 50's and my heartrate drops into the 40's during the day (it s...

Should I question my pacing

I had a loop recorder inserted last year. This reported bpm below 30 at night and some heart stops of more than 3 secs  then I nearly fainted at breakfast having a sudden pulse to my head and down my arms.

Now I have a pacemaker and it's  set to 60 - 130. They said MY  battery will probably last a very long time. I'm  not worried about how long the battery lasts but since my normal heart rate has always been 52 why set to 60.  I'm  feeling...

Atrial tachycardia episodes, are they normal?

Just had my first visit with my new EP, although she kept saying she is technically an "engineer" not a tech (still not sure what that means).  Anyways she did a much more thorough interrogation then my prior tech, seemed to know her stuff. She said I have been having "quite a number" of atrial tachycardia episodes.  I told her I had some in the past and that my old tech said it was normal in people paced in both ventricle and atrium, she looked like she disagree...

First Doctor visit after PM

This site is really helpful and I hope I’m not “ overusing “ the information found here !

On June 30th I have my first doctor visit since my PM was implanted. The Medtronic rep will be there as well. My doctor said they would “tweak” and “ fine tune” the PM.

. What kinds of questions do I need to ask ?? Other than occasional high BP ( 164/88) I’m getting along great and feel so much better.

i have LBBB and I believe I have two...

Minimum Settings Changed?

Hey all- I'm 1 year in from having my PM. Everything had been going fine until this week I kept having some dizzy/nauseous spells this week. Started off right after I excercised, but then dragged on and I was just constantly light headed and dizzy.

Got some bloodwork done, and all came back good. My EP switched my minimum bpm from 60 to 70 and now I feel so much better (at least not light headed and nauseous). It may be too high of a setting, but I'll take the return to nor...

Pacemaker strange sensation

I've had a pacemaker since 2012 and for as long as I can remember I've felt a jolting sensation from it. It happens most hours at 8 minutes to the hour. I've mentioned this several times at the pacemaker clinic but they don't know what it is. It doesn't bother me although i would like to know if anyone has any ideas or if it happens to others.

Thanks

new pacemaker

Sorry for all the questions, I am a newbie.  This is my first post.

I had a dual lead St Judes PM placed on 03/13.  My first check is in June.

Currently set at atrial rate of 60, all other settings are at default.  PM was placed for Junctional rhythm of 47-49 with no P waves.

My questions:

Have times I am constantly at 60, regardless if I am moving around or sitting.  If it goes on for a while I feel slightl...

ejection fraction after CRT

Previously I had had a Medtronic 2 lead pacemaker for 9 years.  My ejection fraction began to go down, from 65% in 2009, to 50% in 2014 and 40% in 2018.  After much discussion the doctor installed a 3 lead biventricular crt pacemaker in September 2019.  I recently had a follow up echocardiogram in April 2020.  My ejection fraction had improved to 55%.  The CRT pacemaker has done it job, thanks for that.

If any of you are in the same situation, I can and wou...

Strange feeling after checkup

Hi everyone! Thanks for response. I feel much better today I think maybe combination of little food, dehydration and taking first beta blocker!!!! Also anxiety doesn't help and although I've had my pm around 13 weeks doctor did say that in some people it can take 6 to 12 months to get used to so I'm going to have to try and trust it and relax especially when I've been told it's doing it's job. Thanks again!

What Can Be Learned?

Normally I lurk and learn. Every now and then I come out of my hidey hole with a question.

We know the heart is both electrical and mechanical.  When your provider interrogates your PM he gets info on the device as well as the electrical aspects of the heart.  At least that is my understanding.

My question is,  is there anything from the information the provider receives from the interrogation that would give him/ her any indications of what may be going...

Pacemaker Event Sensations

Hi--I just had a Medtronic PM implanted in late Feb just in advance of the world changing due to COVID 19.  Initially, I was feeling various sensations that I assumed were normal for a new implant.  But now, I am experiencing a "jolt" like sensation every morning at 2:00am.  The time doiesn't vary--always exactly 2:00am.  I called Medtronic and a tech said that their device is programmed to diagnose certain aspects of the PM performance at 2:15am daily and th...

Check up postponed

It is almost two years since I had my pacemaker fitted,  and was due for a check up next week.

I have  received a letter  informing me that because of Covid19, the appointment has been postponed to April 2021.

So far  so good, everything seems to work  OK, touch wood, but how would I know if there is  a malfunction? A year seems a long time for a postponement.

New ICD owner

I am a 46 year old firefighter diagnosed with Cariac Saroidosis. I have a Boston Scientific Resonate EL ICD DR. I am post op 3 weeks and had my first visit to the Pacemaker Clinic at Vancouver General Hospital. I have an AV block (I'm a little uncertain what degree AV block it is). Prior to my visit I was feeling great and that the recovery was going well. Yesterday I felt horrible. I felt light headed and a little out of control. At the pacemaker clinic they added a delayed res...
