Junctional Rhythm and Pacemaker

I've been putting off getting a PM for several years. Actually my 5 year old problem with an exercise induced bradycardia was not diagnosed as requiring a PM till a couple of years ago. Anyway, now it seems my heart goes into a junctional rhythm when I start exercising. Sometimes it is an accelerated rhythm. (The junctional is a backup pacemaker and if it's accelerated that means it's actually going faster than the sinus node).

My EP says that a PM by itself may not help and I'm goin...

Apologies for my self pitying posting on 31 July

My father Kenneth had a seizure on 15th June. He had dropping of heart beat and vomitting. He was fitted with a Pacemaker straigt away. After the pacemaker my father continue to have seizures and started getting his words mixed up. My sister organised for him to have a CT scan on the brain. Me and my sister were then informed that my father has an extensive left temporel inhomogeneous high grade glioma cancer on the brain and this what courses the problem on the 15th June. My father is rec...

2 and 3 lead Pacemakers

I have had a two lead pacemaker for about 8 years....I have had it replaced once because the battery aged and failed. I have developed fluid in my lungs which has been attributed to my heart. It has been recommended that I replace my two lead pacemaker with a three lead one. They say it will be more efficient. Has anyone had a problem like this and were you told the same thing? What has been your experience?
I would appreciate anything you can tell me related to this type of problem.

Kidney disease & a pacemaker

I have polycystic kidney disease and have had a pacemaker implanted for a few years now. It has totally changed my life for the better! Does anyone have a combination of kidney disease and a pacemaker. I am only 42, but I will need a kidney transplant in a few years and I wanted to know if the pacemaker would interfere?

Thanks,

Donna

Flecanide Acetate

I had a PM installed 1 week ago today. The Dr. also prescribed Flecanide Acetate. Does anyone out there have any stories to relate about side effects related to Flecanide (TAMBOCOR)?
I am experiencing some headaches and occasionally have a short dizzy spell. Also, I just don't have any energy and I find it hard to concentrate. I am thinking it is the meds because I didn't have any of these affects until about day four, so I think the meds have finally kicked in. I plan to just gut it ou...

This is pretty interesting!

FRIDAY, June 15 (HealthDay News) -- The bizarre death of a New York City high school track star from a muscle pain cream overdose is raising a red flag once again on the hazards of overusing common over-the-counter medications, experts say.

The New York City medical examiner's office ruled last week that 17-year-old cross-country runner Arielle Newman died from an accidental overdose of methyl salicylate, the wintergreen-scented ingredient found in popular sports balms.

Has anyone in our group developed Breast cancer in the breast with the PM? I am going for a biopsy (& removal of lump) for IBC next week. I have been informed that my PM will have to be turned off for the surgery an dif I require radiation the PM will have to be relocated to my stomach.
I am very scared about the possiblity of BC but now even more worried about the PM (Which is reality new only 8 months. )

pain, due to meds???

My DR.s put me on nortriptyline 75mg at bedtime, after I recieved my implant on Oct.16.06. I have bradycardia and I am 30yrs old. They said it was for chronic pain.(migraine sufferer) I was having lots of pain at/around my heart and pacer, they said it was in my head or indigestion. Well, I stopped taking meds (cold turkey) Apr.23.07. The pains have now subsided to where I may have a pain once or twice a week. I was worried about getting migraines and haven't even had a headache. Not sure wha...

Praying for relief

Hi everyone, my head and heart and body have been really awful to me these past few days, and I am just praying that I will wake up and it be June 5th so I can schedule the pacemaker implant. I am about to be driven crazy by the medications. Midodrine and Toprol XL. I over-did it with trying to be a good mom this past Memorial Day weekend and doing stuff with my 2 kiddos. I collapsed on Sunday at the park. Monday I woke up and cooked a big breakfast but I felt so bad all I could do was slee...

Ablation Update

Only time will tell if my ablation was a success. I traveled four hours from my hometown to the hospital on Tuesday and returned home Friday evening. The procedure was on Wednesday and took over seven hours. I was heavily drugged, but was not put to sleep. What a feeling! Even with narcotics, it felt like my chest was on fire.

Three bad electrical circuits were found. The doctors tell me two of the three are corrected, but only time will tell if the third will cause atrial flut...
