Sleep Apnea - high vagal tone

Hey guys,

I don't know if you recall but about a month ago I was told I needed a pacemaker by my cardiologist and then saw a specialist (EP) who said I didn't need one. My heart would stop beating for 3 seconds at times but only during the night..he said this was due to high vagal tone. I was also diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea and he believed that this may be contributing to that pausing and high vagal tone along with excessive physical activity.

I just wanted to let...

CHF and difficulty breathing

My husband has a Medtronic 2 lead ICD - implanted 10/06. Since he's had the ICD he's developed CHF and we've been to the hospital at least 4 times for difficulty breathing because his lungs fill with fluid. After IV lasix and c-pap machine he comes around. They have told us to watch for swelling in his feet and weight gain which he has not had in the past when the problem starts. However, last night and today I have noticed that the tops of his feet are kind of puffy (no weight gain). So...

Left ventrical noncompression symdrome

OOHHH realy scarry report from cardiologist but I am really not sure what it means for my health and welfare. The report said it transverses the left ventrical cavity. Seems like there are two shrinky-dink spots in my heart wall that are no longer living. I believe my heart is committing suicide without my permission. He seems to think this is what is causing my rythum problems. Does anyone know what this means? He is suggesting I go to Mayo clinic in Minn. for possible ablation. I am rea...

Sympton Question-Am I crazy?

Like some of you this is all new to me also. I would like to know if anyone else deals with the same issues. The past two years they thought I was having seizures because of an abnormal EEG and I could not wake up in the mornings. After a 7 day sleep deprived EEG they found that my heart rate and blood pressure drops to low and explained that the communication between my brain and my heart doesn't work at times. The EP Doctor said I need a pace maker. I failed the Echo Stress Test but the H...

MRI & PM? No, here's why not

MRI is currently contraindicated in patients with pacemakers and ICDs due to a variety of safety concerns related to potential adverse effects on the device from the strong magnetic and radiofrequency forces generated during the scan. These include the possibility of erratic and inappropriate device functioning during (or after) the scan, over-sensing that can cause high rate pacing or thermal damage to the device, and induced voltages on leads that can cause over- and under-sensing. Moreover, c...

PVC's Info Needed Please

Hi All.
It's been a long time since I've posted but have been reading with interest. I had a dual chamber Medtronic P.M. implanted in 2004 to help me cope with SSS caused by medications for A-Fib. Although recovery was slow all has gone well until the last 2 or 3 months. I have been experiencing a feeling that I am going to pass out along with what the Pacemaker Clinic is calling PVC's. My cardio. prescribed Warfarin and has gone on holidays for a month. (which by the way he has every righ...

Experiment

I'm curious if anyone could help me understand something. I recently put up a post "Told I need a pacemaker" and I am scheduled to see an EP specialist on Tuesday 17th. I was told on the 4th of april that I need a pacemaker.

Since then I have completely stopped any physical activity, of which i used to do at least 5 days a week. Since then I have not felt any dropped heart beats, feel much more rested after a nights sleep and just feel overall mentally better.

My confusion...

Ablations?

I'm scheduled for an ablation on May 23. I have at least three bad electric circuits in my heart that are causing me to go in and out of atrial flutter. I'm told this problem is common for adult congenial patients who had surgeries as a child. From what I've read and have been told by my doctors is that the success rate for such a procedure is high. I hope so! I want to get back to feeling "normal" and off my blood thinners or should I say rat poison.

Does anyone have information...

Hashimoto's Disease & PM

$6Mman asked about Hashimoto's & problems with lab tests.I was unable to post until now because I wasn't recognized, but I have a comment. If you have Hash, it is not good enough to rely upon the TSH value when determining exogenous levothyroid.Hash is a condition in which the body itself destroys the circulating levothyroid. Therefore, the appropriate blood tests should focus on the amount of thyroid hormone actually circulating in the blood. To do this, you must be tested for Free T3 and Free...

Lipitor & Statins

I was in perfect health until I started taking Lipitor. I have been an avid runner for 30 years and days after taking Lipitor I couldn't run one block. I only took it for 2 weeks and stopped. One month later I was in the hospital with a double block and had to have a pacemaker installed. Has anyone else had problems with Lipitor or other statin drugs?
