Feeling the pacemaker work

I have had a pacemaker now for 4 years following complete heart block and multiple organ failure. Recently I feel as if I have been kicked in the ribs a bit like I felt when pregnant a thump. Is this the pacemaker working? The pacemaker is in as a safety net and rarely paces according to my doctor.

Getting pacemaker soon

Hi everyone,
I am 27 with TGA. I had a mustard at age 7 month. I experienced A-fib a few years back and was put on Coreg. Now I have been very tired with arrhythmia's and bradycardia. I am getting a pacemaker next month. I guess I want to know if it will make a difference. I feel like I could sleep all day everyday. I have grown depressed because I no longer have the energy to keep up with my family ( 3 kids and husband). I can't do the things I used to enjoy like biking, hiking and s...

Exertion issues

I had a PM put in last Dec. Since then I have had lead, medicine and anxiety issues. I've been to the Dr. and they said everything is OK but it seems like anytime I try and do anything I get this tightness in my heart and have trouble breathing. I've had a heart cath and that showed no blockages. Nothing else has showed up negatively on my heart.

I think it's still the anxiety issues and I can't figure out how to get past them. I take 25 mg of Antenolo split in half one a day....

PVCs that make me dizzy

My PVCs are not of the common variety at present. They used to be, but no more. Now the moment I get out of bed I have one after every beat and this can go on for hours. If I sit down long enough my heart rate will return to normal. I do have a pacemaker, which was implanted about a year and a half ago. My problem is not the PVC itself. I learned how to live with them a long time ago. It the dizziness and shortness of breath that this new kind, which is much more severe, is bringing on. <...

I have just joined and need support in coping. I had a pacemaker with three leads put in this past January after going through increasing problems with AFIB. I just turned 60 yesterday and retired from being an educator. I want to get going again and get myself in shape so I can enjoy life.

Scared

I am 38 years old and I am scheduled for my pacemaker on 5/25. I thought I had finally accepted the fact that I need one, but now that the time grows closer, my emotions are all over the place. I've known for a while that a pacemaker was in my future, but I just hadn't thought I would be now. I'm getting the pacer because I have brady/tachy syndrome. My HR is usually in the 40's with accompanying SOB, dizziness and hard palpitations with intermittent spikes to the 130's. I also have neurocardiog...

Released

I was released last night from the hospital. I was told that after monitoring me, they do not see the complete blockage, but they know that there is SOMETHING going on with my heart that may require a pacemaker. They stated that they need more information that will come from my original heart surgery 25 yrs ago, and EKGs that I have gotten over the years at various hospitals. They were not able to get those other EKGs to compare while I was admitted...so while Im released I am going to be pro...

PM after flat lining during tilt table test

Hello, I’m new here and trying to cope with what has happened so suddenly. I am a 41 year old female and have fainted a few times in my life, usually when I was very dehydrated or during very traumatic emotional situations. I never thought it was a big deal as recovery was always very quick. After another fainting episode last month, I was diagnosed with Vasovagal Syncope. My doctor ordered a routine tilt table test but thought it would probably be a waste of time. The first part of the...

It Gets Better

I just want to reassure people out there that it does get better. I got my Pacemaker March 15th 2011 . I was off work for 6 weeks because my incision was not healing at one end. But since i returned to work and got back into a normal routine again I can now say that some days i actually forget I have a Pacemaker.
It is even getting more comfortable to sleep on my left side where it is. I was very tired the first week and slept a lot . I also worried too much which did not help. So hang...

I had a car accident on Jan. 19th from blacking out. In EMERG for 5 hours with injuries to my face, whiplash, concussion, lower back and knees, totaled my van by smashing it into a hydro pole on the other side of the street. No idea what happened. Then again on Feb. 3, blacked out again, ambulance to ER, where again they did not know. Wanted me to go home, but whil...

I was hospitalized today because I went to the ER with an anxiety attack that included chest pains. I just turned 32 yrs old last month. They say I have total blockage and may need a pacemaker. I am scared!!  What is the procedure like?  What is the recovery like?  What is life like after the implantation?  What is my quality of life/life expectancy? I have so many questions....and I’m so scared...and I feel so alone. Talk to me people.

So close - Not close enough!

So close but not close enough!
Almost made it to 65 and Medicare. But the ER, Hospital and Pacemaker surprise received on the day of my 64th birthday changed that goal.
I am told it was close but that I will now make it to 65 and beyond. Just coping with the medical bills is enough to stop my heart so T/G for the pacemaker. Just when I think I have seen them all - another $$$$$Bill shows up!
They just keep coming?

First timer PM and posting

Hi,

I received a pacemaker April 4th, 2011. They had to repeat the surgery as one of the leads was smashed. I was in for 6 days and very sick most of the time. I was diagnosed with Vasovagal response episode.

Following the surgeries I had a bad bacterial infection, followed by an internal one; which both has slowed my recovery. It’s been 5 weeks now, and I’m still having a hard time getting my head around the whole thing. I think a bit angry!

I...

Hey everyone

A big hello to all fellow PM’s!!

My name is Luke, I am 26, and I am from the UK.  I had my pacemaker April the 28th.  Nearly 2 weeks have past and everything seems to be good!?!

I had a phone call from the hospital saying I needed to get into hospital the same day to have a pacemaker fitted. All happened quite quickly! I had an ICM reveal implanted in March this year and when I collapsed, it picked up that my heart stopped for 6 secs. I now have a duel c...
