My Pacemaker

After being in bed for a month in February with a broken leg and facial injuries from passing out, I got the thing on March 25, 2011.

Just this week I was in the ER and the doctor’s office 3 times as I am so weak I just stay in bed.  I moved back in with my parents! who are in their 90’s; God bless them, even though they forget I am upstairs sometimes...I have learned to be hungry and thirsty at times!!!!!!!!!!!

I just turned 59 .Passed out again on Fri...

Frustrated

It's been 7 weeks since my PM implant. I wish I could say I am doing great but I can not. My emotions are getting the best of me.

I have a streak of 4 days I did well. Which is an accomplishment for me. But Friday night I saw a commercial which triggered what would have been a massive panic attack had I not taken a Xanax as soon as I did. (it was heart related)

My husband is out this morning and while I know he will be okay I am worried about him, so enter another pani...

Feeling Odd...!!

Hi there,
I haven't posted for a while, everything's been ticking along nicely. I received my DC PM on July 6th 2010 and after my initial anxiety led worries, I have continued to improve which enabled me to return to work full time and start cycling and walking.
About 3 weeks ago I started with a weird feeling in my chest when sat down. My heart beat was intermittently very strong and sometimes felt like it was beating in my stomach & throat! Which in turn caused me to have panic att...

New girl

Just had pacemaker over 7 weeks and feel like I’m not coping too good. Got such good feedback on how my life was going to change, but everything feels strange. My body rejected the dissolving stitches so I ended up with an abscess until it came out, which hasn’t helped.

I had PM fitted as my nervous system was not good at controlling blood pressure and at times my heart stopped.  I do seem to be feeling better in myself and things like pins and needles h...

Stressful day then no energy

Hi,
I have had my pacemaker for about 2 months for a type 2 AV block. Lately when I'm under stress at work I seem to bottom out on energy and come home and want to go straight to bed. It happens about every week or two that I just feel super fatigued, usually after stress or lack of sleep or both. This hasn't been normal for me in the past. Thoughts? This place is the only thing that keeps me sane. Thanks.

Newbie with one week in

I thank you all for the information on anxiety for beginners. It helped me a lot. I thought I was gonna die. With heart flutters and sprits I will keep reading here.

I have a weak sinus node and a bit of a block and a slow heart for a long time; I thought 40 was a good rate - apparently not.

Thanks again for the help.

Coming to Terms

I haven't had the surgery yet but my cardiologist informed me that I would need a pacemaker by the time I was 40. I'm 32 and my conditions have gotten considerably worse. I am considerably overweight and felt that if I lost weight that my condition would improve and I wouldn't need the surgery. I have done everything, I can: working out, eating much healthier, cutting back on refined carbs and sugars and have not had much success with weight loss. How do you cope with coming to terms with an...

Hi everyone!!!
My doc realised that my heartbeat spiked during the period of time i make my way to school. Due to that i decided to take a different route to school which means i cannot go to school with my gd friend anymore, we used to do it together.
After a while , my relationship with her really starts to get ...weird. I still love her as a friend for who she is but what abt her???
I don 't want my pm to get into the way of our friendship.

Living a Wonderful Life

I receive a daily email from the Paciffic Institute and decided to share the one I received today. Even with my heart condition, I plan to live a wonderful life. What about you?

Without my heart condition, I would not be me. It has helped to shape my personality and even lead to many of my interests.

A First Step...thanks!

Today was my first day without taking a Xanax.

I completely attribute my first step to a better mental state to this terrific group.

Yesterday I took less Xanax and also implimented the breathing exercises that I believe ElectricFrank mentioned in one of the comments.

I know some days I may take a step back and I may still need to take medication and some days may just be bad no matter what I do but I can finally see some progress. There is hope.

An emotional wreck

Hi everyone. I just found this site while looking for some information in regard to lifting after a pacemaker implantation. I am trying to be careful but with a 2 year old it was bound to happen and I had to pick her up (mainly with my right arm but supported with my left).

Three weeks ago I went in for a cardiac ablation. I had two SVT's and one was close to the junction box. I was the lucky 1-2% with a more complicated case. The hospital I went to dealt with ablations more than...

Two years out

Hey guys - Today is the two year anniversary of my pacemaker, and I thought I'd check in to cheer some of you up.

When I got my pacemaker 2 years ago I was an emotional wreck afterwards, and this online support group helped me through SOO much. I'm here to tell you that life goes on, and I barely think about the thing anymore. I just live my life - very thankful for the little device that keeps my heart beating.

Two years ago I was a healthy 60 (or so I thought) until I pa...
