I had my pace maker adjusted to the teeth. After the first three months, I had a period of six month adjusting roughly once every two months. Not to mention the trips to the hospital. Finally it was adjusted by a group of physicians while I was connected to an echo cardiograph. That process took several hours of taking samples and running the data in a computer program then changing the adjustments.

I had my pacemaker in 2006. I was pacing 1% of the time but now I am completely dependent on it. The adaptive algorithm that medtronics has implemented is very crappy and needs to be removed since it creating more problems than it is fixing.
Medtronics should really abide by KISS in this case.
What is ever worse is the implementation of the motion sensor that kept me up all night. Every time I toss and turn in bed at night it brings my plus up. I had the creature feature turned off.

In researching what could contribute to my sometimes elevated (by 10-15 bpm) heart rate, I now wonder if Singulair, while maybe ok by itself, contritubes to the resting heart rate problems I sometimes have when I take other drugs/OTC stuff. Does anyone have problems with fast heart rate while on Singulair?

I was curious how PM care works in the countries with socialized medicine. Are you happy with the care?
I am self employed and pay a lot for health insurance. But I wasn't billed much at all for either of my two PM surgeries. I chronically miss my PM appointments and am always rescheduling as my work is very dynamic. This has never a problem. I have also been able to go in as much as I want during the "tuning" phase of my PM...the first few weeks after implantation to tweak the s...

My husband had a pacemaker procedure done 4 days ago..His general health seems to have improved except for the edema..We weigh every morning and he has not lost any of the edema..He is on lasix but I thought with the heart pumping efficiently the edema would improve..any thoughts..I have been awake all night worrying about him.

Hi everyone,
I'm feeling quite well on my 5th day with my ICD. I think I'll feel great once the wound has healed and I can move my left arm freely.
I just want to relay an important experience for those who may have an implantation coming up. I live in Central New York and had my ICD implanted by a very reputable surgeon. However, due to such high demand, the surgeon does not meet with patients until the day of the surgery. Instead, patients meet with a PA or RN to discuss de...

Received a St. Jude model 5826. Continuous pacing. Only two of three leads connected due to Dr. having difficulty placing third in left ventrical. Went home next day. Got kicked in the chest by it multiple times. Went to ER. Cardiac enzymes showed heart attack. Got it tuned up. It still clicks especially when I bend over. Also had to go back on Toprol . Don't feel to pleased with results. Are they "normal"?

To all of you,
We can never thank you enough for your help. It is a time like this when the words "thank you" seem so inadequate as a means of expressing the appreciation we have for all of your help because things were looking very bleak when I asked for your help.
Now let me try to briefly give you a few derails. Michael was found in bed nonresponsive Monday. Nine-Eleven was called and he was carried to the ER.
Shortly after arrival at the ER his blood amm...

Two yrs post pacemaker and my cardiologist rec a sleep test because most of my arrhythmias occur during sleep.I have no daytime sleepiness. The test did show mild-moderate apnea and CPAP (cont positive airway) is recomended.Any thoughts? I really don't want this and hated the night I wore that contraption which left me sleepy the following day and a bruise on the bridge of my nose.

I finally got stung by a wasp on Tuesday - well, I think I did, anyway! I woke up and there was a wasp buzzing by my face, and after a few minutes my entire face started to swell up but I didn't feel the actual sting itself. When my throat started to close, I took antihistamine and my mum injected me with my Epipen and took me to A&E. When we got there the doctors gave me steroids and more antihistamine. They also took my pulse, which was racing at 180+bpm. When I saw the cardiology technician l...

Friends,
I have a request of you. If any of you have a free moment will you pray of our son Michael? He has been in ICU for several days now because of liver failure. The liver failure is the result of hepatitis C he contracted from a blood transfusion he got in the mid 80s. According to his doctor, at best, he has anywhere from a few hours to a few days unless we get a miracle. So I'm begging for your help to get that miracle.
I'm sure the question some of you may...
New Pacemaker
Hi,
I am a 55 year old woman that has worked out all her life and watching my diet. People would always comment on how discipline I am about being healthy. All of a sudden last week I passed out at work. I was brought to the ER and passed out two more times. They told me I flat-lined. The Dr. thought it important to make a copy of my last EKG so show me that I did actually flat-line. Not sure what I think of that yet. I had emergency surgery to have a temporary pacemaker installed, and th...

So, armed with the knowledge I've gained from my friends here, I confidently called my EP's office and explained that I wanted my pm settings adjusted. (I'm 42, heart block, pm since 01/09)
My request came because I like to walk in the morning, and I've given it up because I was feeling weak and shaky when I got a little way into it. I had been doing 1.5 mi in 20 minutes, with a pretty good hill in the middle of it. I know that doesn't make me an olympic athlete, but it does get the heart...
