I have been told that I have AFib, although I cannot tell the difference between it and IST. I have noticed lately though that when I have a tachy episode and faint, my blood pressure is always high. My bp normally runs low, but after fainting last night, my hubby checked my bp and it was 166/98. It came down gradually as my heart rate regulated and got back to 107/77.
I have never had high bp during these episodes, usually my heart rate just gets too fast for no reason. Does an AFib attack...

Hi Jessie, thanks for your message. I am from Colac in Victoria so not far away from you as we are just up from the bass strait.
My name is Barbara I am 67 and it came as a heck of a shock when this happened but the doctors were fantastic. I don't have hospital benefits as I am on the pension(I am not going to bang on about that as we do ok)
The specialist had me in the Geelong hospital within four days of discovering problem so I have no reason to grizzle about the service.
Hope t...

Hi All
What is the difference between afib. and tachycardia? How do you know when it is serious and not just palpatations ?. At what point do you seek medical help? I have changed my cardio and want to ask about settings on pm. Is there a list of questions @ settings on my medtronic duel lead pm? and what if doc doesn't care for medtronic pm as he is using another pm manufacturer?,,,,,,,,,,,,As a rule will he be able to work with my pm or should I seek a doc who is using medtronic pm...

Hi all. Was diagnosed with SSS and had pacemaker implanted in August of 08. Was still feeling lightheaded and dizzy so went through two tilt table tests and failed the second one. Was diagnosed with POTS and NCS by my neurologist. In short, my EP wants me to try Florinef and my neurologist wants me to try Toprol. Had taken toprol before, only 25 mgs, but didn't seem to help. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions??

PM was implanted 6 weeks ago. The steri strips that covered the site are just now falling off. I notice the entire skin area over the PM itself is red and tender, anyone else have/had this reaction? Talked to cardio office last week, thot I could start slowly on treadmill, etc. Since they didn't have opportunity to do stress tests prior to implant (was in cardio at 9:15 am, hosp at 10am and PM implant 2 1/2 hours later, pretty quick, lol) they have told me to slow down, no treadmill until mo...

Yes, as Jessie says I think you have muddled us up. How about this for coincidence: I had my pm checked in Geelong hospital pm clinic in July. We spent 3 months on the mainland mostly near Torquay. It would be a coincidence if we saw the same specialist. Can you send me a private message and let me know who you saw. I would be interested. Kay rang me tonight. She is in Carrum near Frankstone. Looks like we are gearing up for a get together this side of the world. We are due over to Vict...

I have a Biotronics Pacemaker and am on a cardio monitor which is hooked up through our telephone line. Does anyone have a monitor and if so, do you travel outside the area with it? We are going to Canada in couple weeks and I am curious if once it is hooked up in the condo if there are international phone charges for the reporting that goes out every 24 hours. Thanks

I have been having my PM checked monthly for a couple months now. I am due to go again on the 23rd. I have been feeling more tired and yesterday I was bending over at the knees and suddenly I toppled over and lost my balance for no apparent reason. I didn't feel light headed, but then why did I lose my balance so suddenly? I have been reading posts and it seems like when your PM goes in ERI mode, most of you say you could feel it? What are some of the symptoms you feel? Can it affect you...

Hi there,
After three and a half weeks of my PM implant, I decided to go to the beach. Even though I was very careful following Drs. advices, I just came back with my arm soaring. Somehow I was expecting to fell my heart beat about the same as before, but that did not happened.
I have noticed I don't get that tired, but when I make some kind of effort beyond walking, seems like my breathing gets out of pace, somehow feels like it looses sync.
Is there a day whe...

I went to the ER last night. I kept having this funny feeling in my chest which would seemingly travel up into my neck. I would feel a lot of pressure in my neck and ears and could actually see my neck pulsating. A few times it happened made me feel a little light headed, so my husband and I decided to get in the car and drive 90 miles to the Heart Hospital. Once I got there they did labs, EKG, X-ray, and hooked me up to a monitor. This feeling happened again 3 times while I was there, BUT...

Has anyone experienced muscle spasms in the area around the pacemaker and in the general pectoral muscle area? I have begun experiencing this now 2 years after my device was implanted.
