Funny or Not, It was Justice On The Spot

The following is from a story in the AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN on 1-11-08 By Claire Osborn

Defibrillator jolt scared off attacker.

A 60-year-old woman's cardiac defibrillator saved her from being sexually assaulted, according to an arrest warrant
released by the Austin Police Department.

When the North Austin woman awoke in her bed, a teenage boy was tying some thing around her neck and hands, saying,"You know you want it; just let me do it," according to...

Movie night

Hello everyone,
I have just returned from seeing a movie that opened tonight. The title was "THE BUCKET LIST" It is a wonderful story about 2 men who become friends. I shall not tell you any more than that. It was a fantastic story and my hubby and I were both teary eyed. It was the first time in a long time that I could sit in a warm dark theatre and not fall asleep from being so tired. It was great and then we stopped for an ice cream cone. It has been truly a very nice day.

Site is wonderful

I'm new to this site. Had a dual lead PM implanted a little over a month ago. I'm so glad I ran across this site because I was able to get some insight into the life of a PM'er before I got my own. It is comforting to know that there's a place to go for info and support.

Left arm pain

I got my PM in June of 2007. My left arm when I reach back or lean to side to reach something I get a very sharp pain that feels deep and goes down to right above my elbow. My PM site does not hurt but I have never had this pain in my life before. Usually the pain I have in my left arm is angina type. Not even close to that. I can lift things in front of me and I have no pain at all. If happens so often now and the pain is more intense I wonder what the heck it is. I need some help? It has been...

Pre-Dental Meds?!?

Hi Everyone,

I really need some help here. I went to the dentist this past week for the first time in 5 years. I have had my pm for 15 years and I have always taken amoxicillian prior to a dental visit. I saw a new dentist and he seemed to think this was unnecessary. He kind of gave me a hard time about it and now I'm confused. I noticed my cardiologist did lower the amount this time, but she also did call in the prescription. The dentist wants me to call the cardiologist before...

Metal Detectors vs Pacemakers

I just found this article and posting from 2005 and wondered if there has been any more recent data to support or refute the data on airport security metal detectors?

Posted by MSPACER on 2005-03-28 19:23

I know there have been many questions on whether Airport metal detectors are safe for pacemakers. I found this article published in Journal Watch Cardiology.

Physician-authored summaries and commentary…
…from the publishers of The New England Journal of Me...

Pacemaker pressing?

I had a pm put in in Feb. 2007. It seems to have shifted or else its my imagination. It also seems to stick out on the corner especially when I move my arm just right. Now i have a little sack of fluid underneath my arm about 2 in. wide and about 4in. long. I just had physical and Dr. says dont worry. I think the pacer is pushing on my underarm muscle for I can feel it irritating there. I am fully endowed on top and the left one is forever pullng onthe area. Can they ever move these thing...

Please post me a message

I posted the other day about my current problems and got a lovely response from a member. But I only got one response. Please read my post again and if you can give me any help, encouragement, etc. please do so.

I have felt really bad all week and just can't seem to get my strength back. Is is gone forever or what. I went up north to visit over the holidays and it was way too much for me. I just can't seem to bounce back. Not that I am expecting to go roller skating or anythin...

New guy

Im new here and just wanted to introduce myself. I’m a 33 yo Marine that was diagnosed with Long QT Syndrome. I had an ICD implanted in Feb of 07. I found this site while doing some research for myself and have been on it for a few hours reading. It’s comforting to know that other people have had the same question, concerns and things that I have had. Most of the time I feel like I’m on my own. It’s been a long year adjusting to this. I have always been very active and involved in the outdoors....

Again!

I passed out again today! I am so frustrated! I was doing so well...for the last 6 weeks - since my pacemaker was implanted, I have had hardly any problems...but now, it seems like everything is going down hill. I was having a hard enough time coping with the fact that I have a PM at 23, but now I am having all these issues, and I am having to continuously seek help from my EP. Don't get me wrong, she is an amazing doctor, and I love her, but I know that I must be driving her crazy! I have an ap...

Genetic Testing

Hi my name is Debbie I have posted before. I have a ICD implanted in April 2007. I have Dilated Cardiomyopathy and Long Q T Syndrome. I just got my results from genetic testing yesterday, they found genetic mutation that has the potential to cause a familial arrhythmia-causing syndrome.(LQT1). I am still processing it all and not sure how to feel about it. I have 3 children that will be getting tested. My son is 17 and I have daughters 5 and 8 years old. Anyone else go through this testing ?...

About to lose my PM virginity

Hi Guys, well, been waiting 2 months, and I'm 21 hours away (can't stop clock watching) until I receive my first dual chamber PM for 3rd degree AV block at 29 years of age. Just wanted to thank all that have shared their experiences over the past few weeks with me, it really does help in giving you a base of information to move forward. Of course, as a human being with young children I am naturally terrified still but know exactly what is happening and why, which certainly out ways the operation...

Pre-PM Symptoms

The sypmtoms that I was experiancing pre-PM are starting to come back. The headaches, dizziness, fatigue - I was completely losing conciousness before the PM, but today I blacked out which has never happened before. I have also been feeling my heart beat very strong, and it feels like it is just sort of flopping around in my chest. Could it have something to do the the PM? I was having really bad chest pains over the weekend, then that finally stopped and now this. I feel horrible again, I am re...
