I'm probably just being an overly paranoid mom, but it never hurts to ask questions....right?
My daughter, Olivia, is 7yrs old and had a pacemaker implanted 3 wks ago for High Grade AV block. Her & her sister got into a scuffle this afternoon and she was fine afterward, but a few hours later started complaining of pain in the pacemaker/incision area. When I lifted her shirt, there were dark veins visible surrounding the area - that have never been visible before. She had no other v...

I know a woman who is 80 years old that got her pacemaker just about one month ago. Now she is experiencing severe pain in the left breast, Has anyone ever experienced this after getting a pacemaker, and if so, what was the cause?
Thanks.

Hi there!
I had lipo on my legs and a thigh lift and was rushed to another hospital after the procedure with total heart block and a pulse of 20-30.
My legs and ankles are still really really swollen, despite walking, keeping raised when im sitting down and constant massaging. They feel solid. My lipo surgeon seems to be trying to tell me that his procedure isnt responsible for this, that it might be the pacemaker!! Not sure if he is trying to wriggle out of something he...

Hey guys. Last night, I woke up around midnight due to that rush feeling. It felt like if my heart was beating that fast it would have come out of my chest. I also had a stabbing pain around my heart and couldn't catch my breath on a few occasions. What really scared me was that a few days ago, my brother was constantly telling my mom, dad, and I that he loved us. That night when my mom went to put him to bed, he called her back to say that he felt like something bad was going to happen. My dog,...

I REALLY APPRECIATE everyone who took the time to comment on my post about that adreneline rush feeling. I know you guys don't know what I'm going through, but I AM NOT A WORRY WART!!! Everyone seems to think that I am waaaayyyy too stressed out, or that I watch too much T.V, or that I am panicking. I just want to clear some things up- I don't watch that much television, I don't stress much and when I do I find a way to manage it, and the feeling comes at random intervals. And I love Cabg Patch,...

My pacemaker area is really starting to get more and more tender. I don't really know what to do about it.
The darn thing is just so close to my shoulder bone on top of my pectoral muscle and it moves so much with every move. It appears to be bulging out a bit more, but I wonder if I'm losing weight. My ribs stick out from my breastbone in front anyways, and always have. (some of you I know are saying, "eww")
I get my pacer checked tomorrow, because of runs of what feels to me like fl...

Tasers have now been introduced in the state of NSW Australia.
Already there has been an instance of use on a young girl in circumstances which seem to be completely not necessary.
Although I contacted current affairs programmes at two TV stations, I have had no response to my questions regarding the effect of a stun gun use on someone who has a pacemaker or a metal body implant e.g. knee replacement. Does anyone have any information on these matters please.

I had my PM implanted in April of this year and have started experiencing what I call "body hiccups" at night when sleeping on my side...
I wake up and feel like my entire chest is convulsing in rhythm with my heart beats...not painful, but difficult to catch my breath. The best way to describe it is an internal hiccup over and over again. The longest "spell" lasted about 2 minutes and I always wake up in a panic feeling like I'm the victim of unneeded CPR! This occurs when sleeping on e...

Since my first PPM implant over 5 months ago, I've been dizzy and weak. Some days are worse than others. I noticed a pain in the center of my chest, and asked the Tech whether leads can be felt in the heart. He said sometimes patients can feel the leads rubbing against the heart valves, but not the screws embedded in the heart. Since my PPM is now totally removed, I don't feel the pain any more, but still get dizzy and weak.
That put me to thinking, and I looked up the symptoms of val...

Headphones for MP3 players placed within an inch of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) may interfere with these devices, according to research presented at the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions 2008. Researchers investigated the effects of MP3 player headphones, most of which contain the magnetic substance neodymium, on the operation of implanted cardiac device...

I am on my 4th pacemaker and second set of leads, I am 64,pacemaker dependent. I was just diagnosised with severe emphysema. I am so tired all the time, I am on oxygen at night and breathing treatments, but that doesn't seem to help anything but my headaches. antidepressants don't seem to help my depression. Some one told me that to have both of these I was sure to have con. heart failure, my DR., JUST SAY i'M going to be fine. Can anyone expound on problems?

was just like to asked some queries bout the "FACT" or "MISCONCEPTION" that pacemaker operated person like us are limited in terms of exploration and leisures or fun with the use of modern and hi-technologies like cellphones or computers because it will limit the life span of our battery. If this is a myth then, there is really a need for information dissimination so countries like us will also know how would it be. I mean pacemaker operated will know how would it be., like m...

I got a pacemaker placed (dual) two months ago and have had nothing but problems since. I feel my pacemaker when it signals either from the upper chamber or lower chamber (AV). It can be felt very low on the left side under my rib cage almost in my upper abdomen as several beats or sometimes in the middle of my chest and will make me cough. It can be positional as well that will set it off. I have seen the technician twice with the company and he made some adjustments once that made it worse and...

I read where a man died after developing an infection and having to have open heart surgery and died.
Is it common to get an infection AFTER you're healed??
Does the pacemaker have to be replaced if you get an infection??
When the batteries run down do they have to remove everything or just change the batteries?
So what Elaine was saying is that open heart surgery has to happen if the leads can't be removed easily?? How often does that happen?
You know you're wired when...
You have a new body part.

A pacemaker suddenly quitting is no more likely to happen than you are to be struck by lightening.
