I need some help understanding how High Blood Pressure is treated if the individual has been diagnosed with Vaso Depressive or Vagal Vagal disorder. The Vaso Vagal dialation of Blood Vessels cause slow heart rythm and low blood pressure that causes periodic fainting.
My problem is that I have the Vaso Depressive diagnosis which led to a PM. Additionally, I have high blood pressure with a 145/95 average. My EP states that any drug that dialates blood vessels will increase the number of...

Hi Friends,
I posted recently about finding fast beats during a PM check on 11/5.
From there, I had an echo and then a chemical stress test.
My cardiologist called me this morning. They saw a small area in the front of my heart that is not circulating properly. So I am off to have a cath done on Monday at 6:15 AM.
My personality is such that I will be worried and scared to death.
I can't help it because that is just me. I know that if something g...

I had a pacemaker implanted a little over a week ago. My cardiologist prescribed 20mg of Coreg CR yesterday. I took it last night and today I feel as crummy as I did before my PM was implanted. For that one week, from the time the PM was implanted untiil yesterday I felt on top of the world. I walked a mile or two every day. It was great.
Has anyone else been prescribed Coreg CR, and if you did, how did it affect you? I feel crappy today, no energy, low bloor pressure (68/42 this...

I had an imaging stress test today. My Dr ordered it after he interrogated my pacer. I was complaining about having a racing heart rate. The odd thing was although I could feel my heart race, my pulse was at 60bpm. He said I was having PVC's and wanted me to take the stress test. I have a bad knee so the Dr said he would give me a chemical I.V.to increase my heart rate and I would only need to do 4 min on the treadmill. As soon as my heart rate increased my blood pressure decreased. I almo...

The only statin I've been able to tolerate is Crestor which I'm currently taking.I've read so much conflicting info regarding the recent study that showed that Crestor reduced inflammation in the body. It also caused a significant rise in diabetes among those taking it & that scares me. I feel myself craving sweets more all the time which sure isn't helping my weight any. I also take fish oil daily (2400 mgs) & that is known to reduce cholestrol. During a heart cath in June the cardio doc said m...

Once again I am turning to my friends on this website for some help. I'm facing an AV node ablation after years of various arrhythmia medications and 5 ablations for afib and flutter. Amiodarone was the only medicine that worked for an extended period of time, but now I'm breaking through that.
My questions to you are: was it successful - I've heard it can the AV node can grow back? how does it impact the battery life of your pacemaker (just got mine less than a year ago)? did you...

Follow up: the doctor changed his mind from medication (which is what he told my spouse when I had my EP study) to there is no medication and he now wants to do a internal loop monitor to ensure that my dizziness is from slow heart rate. I was wondering if anyone had this procedure and what to expect.
Thanks!

Do any of you have what is called "sick sinus syndrome?" Also, I have a Boston Scientific pacemaker and was wondering if any of you do, and if you do, have you ever had any side effects? I just had mine implanted so it hasn't been "tweaked" yet but I was just curious. Thanks cd

Dear all,
Last week I saw an Internist (Gastro Hepatology) and he diagnosized me that I have GERD (Reflux) and now take some medicines (prosogan FD 15mg and Braxidin 150Mg). Beside that I also suspected to have Fibro mialgia. It attacks me suddently and my muscle arround middle chest feeling hurt. This dease occur when we are under stress (physically/mentally) or expose to cold air such as AC. He suggested to do Fisioteraphy since no medicine available (except just pain killer).

Hi friends,
I need some input and advice. I had an echo on 11/5 due to the fact during my PM check they saw fast beats.
My EP called my today with the results. Unfortunately, I was in the middle of teaching my class of first graders so my mind was not fully understanding.
He told me that he didn't agree with the cardiologist that read my results. My EP was not as concerned with the results that the other cardiologist was. If I am understanding correctly, some...

Good evening!
I was wondering if anyone has been diagnosed with this condition. I went for my EP study and my doctor says that I do not need a pacemaker as he believes that it can be controlled through medication and I was wondering if anyone knows what type of medication that would be.(my follow up visit isn't for another week)
Thanks!

I got the word today that there was something irregular in a mammogram I had on Tuesday. I'm scheduled for an ultrasound next Thursday and from a search on here, found that some medical personnel don't want to do ultrasound on those of us with devices (I have a PM/ICD). I was sort of dumbstruck when the doc called me & forgot to ask which side it was on. The Medtronic site sounds like it's a doable test. Has anyone here had any experience with ultrasounds & devices? I was looking forward to the...

My mother has suffered from terrible excessive sweating since her pacemaker was installed and even after several stays in the hospital and thorough check-ups looking for cause/effect - NOTHING is helping.
Does anyone else have these symptoms and can anything be done about it ?????????
Please help. She suffers.

Hello again, All. 3 months into ICD and all seems well. But I have a question. 11 years after heart attack and bypass and Toprol, Lisinopril and now Crestor, I seem to not be able to stop sweating even after light exertion. I am overweight but active and have been a heavy sweater in the past but this is getting rediculus. Any opinions???
Thanks, Clifford

My aunt (85 years old) had a pace maker put in the past Friday, the doctor stated she would go to physical therapy for a couple of weeks, and then go home. On Saturday, she was put in intensive care saying she was dying. Hospice stated she had been in the process of dying for 2 months.
My question, is why would a doctor say she needed a pace maker if she was dying already. She pass yesterday. Less than a week after the pace maker was put in.

Hi Friends,
I have posted previously in the past year. On December 26, I had my 3rd pacemaker inplant. The first was at the age of 36. Friday I turn 54.
This morning I went for my pacemaker check. I have a St. Jude's model. Everything was fine until the nurse told me that I had 2 episodes of very fast beats within the last 3 months. The episodes lasted about 7 seconds.
Tomorrow I will have an echocardiogram to see if anything shows why I had those 2 episodes...
