Has anyone had their pacemaker moved after initial insertion? Mine does alright where it is, but I just don't know if I can hold out for 6-10 years, or until something goes wrong. If anything happens and they gotta go in there for any reason, I'm definitely going to tell them to move it.
My pacemaker is right on the edge of my armpit, and just underneath my shoulder joint. I can grab it by it's edge and probably flip it over if I really wanted to. (I don't though, and I leave it alone as mu...

Thank you all for posting your experiences with heart disease. You are some very brave souls here - especially the young single moms and strong, young men who never thought they'd be dealing with heart problems so early in life.
My father has had a PM for 8 years and he is getting the 3rd wire biventricular pacemaker put in in the morning. I am so worried for him. He has lost 50 pounds in the last 3 months. He has CHF. He has no energy and can barely speak. The Dr. says this is his...

hello friends, IAm in India with my parents. My kids are having a blast.Well!!! for me,I had been to the doctor and got mixed opinions on having the pacemaker. Anyway we did the ECHO(which is normal)and Holter again.I was taking theophiline at the time and my holter is normal. Well the doctor said that medicine is working for me. But can't relay on the medicine forever and might need pacemaker. For now to be sure he asked me to stop the medicine for few days and go for the holter again to confir...

I had my ICD removed a couple of months ago. I had always made it quite clear that I wanted the device back once it came out. It was mine; bought and paid for, so I thought. What I was later told, when I asked for it while in recovery, was that they couldn’t return it to me. They ha...

I've never had lung problems until my phrenic nerve palsy episode after an ablation in April. Now, I guess I'm plagued with chronic lung problems. It appears that I don't breathe deep enough now, and air just can't quite circulate as it used to. I'm so glad people can manage to live normal, active lives with one good lung.
Just got back from the doc who declared pleurisy and bronchitis. My upper chest is killing me. What's best for the pain. I'm about to break out the Ultracet. It just fee...

I had a pacemaker inserted a year ago following complete heart block. The pacemaker was not expected to work and the heart block was believed to be a one off. At my latest check-up I was told that the pacemaker had working very occasionally so does this mean I do have a problem with my heart? The pacemaker is set at 40.
Thanks

Considering all the heart caths and ablations I've been through, I have to say that the AV node ablation was the easiest procedure I've ever had (once I got past the psychological part of being dependent on the pacemaker). I even went out for pizza and a beer, just 4 hours after I was out of bed - the beer was strictly medicinal, since I have to increase the amount of blood thinner in my body ;-)
My healing seems to be quicker than with the other ablations, I guess because the proced...

I have had three Medtronic pacemakers since July 1992 with original Medtronic leads. After sixteen years of satisfaction of quality life the worst happens. My Medtronic Enrythem PM which I really enjoyed was showing signs of rejection. Over a period of six months of carefull observation my cardioligist finally decided to pull my PM two weeks ago. Luckily I'm OK without (limp mode). Question is, Alergy test showed Titanium and two plastics positive. My left chest has severe scar tissue bui...

On a seasonal note, I went into my local hospital yesterday to give the "Pacing/Pacemaker Technicians" a tin of chocolates and a bottle of wine and a xmas card on which I wrote "To those brilliant pacing technicians". The lady technician who I saw, read the front of the card and said this means a lot more to us than the presents. I was very touched by this comment. We must not forget that the technicians are often forgotten at xmas unlike some doctors and nurses. So if you feel appreciative of...

another 2000 sleep apnea
Looks like 2000 was a bad year for sleep apnea. I've my CPAP since then and I won't even try to take a nap without it. I still breakout on my nose but I sleep sooo much better. On my sleep study I slept for 5.1 hrs and stopped breathing 444 times and was told it was not severe. My wife was after me for about 5 years to be tested. Well she was right again. I just had my PM about 10 days ago and was not aware that needing a PM and having sleep apnea were some how related.

Hi all,
Okay, so I have had my pm for 8 months so I feel a little stupid asking this question. When we go for our pm checks what exactly does the reading tell the doctor? For the first few months after the implant I was back & forth getting the kinks worked out so never really asked alot of questions. In Febuary I go in for a regular check up and I am getting curious about what information will be retreived.
