Having just had my pacemaker replaced, I notice I am more alert and less tired now. I have even slept better. Could it be that the old pacemaker was not doing it's job? It's battery was getting low for months then was in need of replacement very fast.

I am a roofer in WA state and had a pacemaker put in on 4/15. The doctor said after 5/15 I am good to go to work. Has any of you had to wear the safety harness that is required for being on the roof? If you have did it bother the pacemaker or ?????

Hi, I was diagnosed with bradycardia and chronotropic incompetence last May and had a Medtronic pacemaker fitted in June. I was a good club runner and found it difficult to breath when running. Although the pacemaker has solved the bradycardia, I am still having problems when running in that the pacemaker does not usually respond enough to exercise and my heart rate does not increase enough for the effort made. The Technicians are trying to adjust the rate response, but not being used to his...

Lets see its been almost 6 weeks now since I was Paced. It was a nice Mother's day, all the kids and grandkids ,12 altogether, came and they even did the dishes, Bang! ( Me falling down) They are getting over their concern however as they left the pots for me. I was worn out after everything but did enjoy my my glasses of Beringers for the first time since my"incident". Guess that won't hurt me will it.? I am having some pain in my neck... right neck,
uh well I usually can find something...

Okay... maybe I am being overly optimistic but hey, why not make the best of having one of these darn things in your chest.
For those of us who like to work out... why can't our pacer interface with our Polar HRM's? I mean, who needs a stupid chest strap when you have leads right into your ticker to give an even more accurate HR. And for those who need to pace at or near 100% of the time, why not give them the ability to set their own HR through use of their watch/HRM?

I am in chronic AF - 6 months.
Pulmonary vein ablation seems risky, and not very good odds for a real cure.
I am interested in the AV node ablation with PM. What is the quality of life for those of you that had the AV node ablation with PM. Which will make me feel the best ?
Thank you
moving right along...
I am now two months out from my fifth heart procedure... a pulmonary vein ablation.... now, if I could just got of the 14 pounds i gained from all the cortisone they used to get my pericarditis under control....
can anyone else here feel their pacemaker pace of get small jolts of electricity???

Happy Mother's day everyone! I just wanted to say going into my fourth week since surgery I'm doing well! I can finally see my scar since the steri strips have fallen off. It's so tiny! I was so worried. How does everyone take care of their scars? My arm isn't killing me anymore, I just feel a little bit of pain when I wake up, because I'm still not used to my sleeping positions. haha My bruising is gone, and so is the swelling. I can't wait for my check-up on May 14th and to get back to working...

PM was place 48 hours ago. At home after a night in the hospital. like most i quess, I was constantly looking at the monitor all night. while lying in the hospital the PM was working all the time. Only saw it below 60 one time.
Soreness at op site. and keeping some ice on it. Any post op advice would be great. Only had to have a couple of pain pills.
All in all doing well and excited to get back and going again.
Thanks to all for the advise so far.

Two weeks ago, I had my 15 yr old pacemaker replaced by a Medtronic model 5024M-58. I have not had a moment of peace since its insertion.
I immediately got severe indigestion which the Dr attributed to the strong antibiotic. I also felt a pain in my upper chest resonating to my jaw. After a week the "indigestion" abated but the problem with the pain in my upper chest/jaw persisted.
I also developed a sense that an electric impulse was radiating accross the top of my chest. I develo...

I was told I had a temporary pacemaker before I had a permanant pacemaker implanted. I don't remember how, what, where etc. this temporary pacemaker was located. I don't remember much of the three days I was in the hospital. Could somebody please explain to me just what a temporary pacemaker is and how it is attached to the body?
Change of pacemaker instead of Battery

I had a pacemaker since 2003 and went for a "battery change" yesterdsy. I see now that the doctor gave me the old pacemaker and replaced it with a new model, a St Jude PM2210, replacing a 5376 also from St Jude. Is it normal to just put in a new pacemaker? What about the difference in cost? I am a Senior on Social Sec. and Medicare with Medicare's Advantage program and can not afford another huge bill.

I am considering pacemaker for AV block 2. But i almost never have slower hr than 55 while at rest. But fast irregular beats at times which i assume pm doesn't help against. So im wondering how do you determine if you really need one ? If i get it now, and find out i barely ever used can i have it removed ? does temporary pacemaker give the answer ? what is it like to sleep with these it ? stomach sleep possiable? all of this is new to me....
