Pocke Revision under/thru muscle

Hello,
I am so glad I found this group… My question is...

Has anyone had there PM put in under the muscle? I had a PM put in in Sept 2009 and have had a lot of pain with it. I finally got a referral to a new specialist and he wants to do a pocket revision on Monday. He said he is going to cut my muscle and place the PM in that way. He said I am to thin for it to be so close to the surface. My old pacer was put in as an emergency procedure, I went in for a Tilt Table test and my...

First Day Back at Work - Update

Yesterday was my first`day back at work. I posted yesterday how worried I was. Well - I survived!

I definitely was worried: could feel myself getting anxious in the lecture room. And I get really excited when I teach, which was weird for me because I have spent the last 4 weeks trying to stay calm. I think its going to take a while to feel comfortable again, and I'm not expecting an immediate transformation: I'll be happy with progress, however small.

But it did feel so...

Has anyone heard a "tone".

I've had my B.S. pacemaker since 2-10-10 and had a first today. I was at work cleaning a handheld disolved oxygen meter when I heard what I can only describe as a tone. I even had a co-worker listen and he heard it too.

We couldn't decide whether it was coming from the pacemaker or the meter (it was off) but it quit as I moved away, started again as I got closer.

Shorly before I heard the same ton as I used an office computer. I didn't feel anything and I'm still not...

Curious

I have a general curiosity about living with the pacemaker.

If mine is to correct intermittent 3rd degree heart block is there any reason that I would assume this condition being corrected by the PM would shorten my lifespan?

Please no sarcastic replies...LOL....can't handle them today. Sorry Zombie....but you are counted out on this one!!!! (wink)

Thanks,
Wenditt

What is this?

Got CRT-D for CHF 3/09. Had my second PM interrogation this week (they missed me in December) and actually got a woman who was training a young man and did she know her stuff!! I was so impressed I told her I loved her. Asked her a few question and found out I have a dual chamber CRT-D with 3 leads. I thought I had 2 leads. She also said the RR was on but set so low it was unable to function so she set it. I got my usual printout and asked if she would go over it with me and she would if I'd com...

Dizzy Etc.

Hi All,
Back again. I got my 2nd PM placed in mid-January this year. Everything was going along swimmingly except for the dizzy/light-headed stuff.
One morning, after a normal swim practice, I collapsed while walking to my car and ended up in the hospital for a couple days while the figured out what happened - I got banged up a bit - my head(I guess) hit the pavement.
So, I have to hydrate (thank you TraceyE and Pookie) all the time. I am usually drinking Powerade Zero befor...

Dizzy Etc.

Hi All,
I might be able to get it all in this time.
I had a tune-up visit with my pacemaker lady about 2 weeks ago. They are all cautious when doing this stuff - one or two small tweeks at a time. She told me that if they do a bunch of changes, then it would be very difficult to tell what adjustments actually helped. I am to "use" it for a few weeks and then call to schedule for some more tweeking. She told me that my new PM has a minute vent (I think that is what she called it)...

Pacemaker Affecting Medication

Is it possible that having a pacemaker is affecting my pain medication? I have been on the same pain pills for many years for my fibromyalgia. Now I seem to get a little lightheaded/dizzy whenever I take it.

did i need this?

Hello everyone,
2 weeks ago i went to my doctor for dizziness, he sent me to a cardiologist who ran some tests. in addition to the atrial fib that i have had for 30 years, they said that i have leaky valves, high pressures within my heart and the thing that concerned them the most, sometimes my heart stops up to 3 seconds. So they convinced me that i needed a pacemaker. i got it on 4/21, recovering well but still got the same dizziness. Im getting a terrible feeling that i might have done a...

Laser Lead extraction

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has had a laser lead extraction...and could tell me what your expierance was like.

I have a duel chamber pacemaker and had my PM interogated a month ago. I found out that my Atrial lead is damaged and need to have surgery.

I got the call today for the surgery apt. and was told that instead of leaving the damaged wire in, they are going to do a laser extraction. I am a little more nervous now, and am hoping some of you can...

Dizzy Etc.

Hi All,
I'm having trouble posting my response to your messages. I may do this in more than one message.
History(thank you BillMFI): A-Fib in late 2004. 2 failed cardioversion attempts - lost heart rhythm. First PM in march 2005.
Continuing Masters Swimming became more of a challenge - motion sensor only works when I am vertical. Lots of hyperventilating helped to keep me from being lapped by the other swimmers in my lane.
more later......

Bike riding and fluid intake

Hi all,

Just a few questions if possible. I had a pacemaker implanted about six months ago and all was going very well and back exercising about 5 days per week on the bike. However about four weeks ago I had a number of fainting spells and one severe episode of unconsciousness without any recollection leading up to the incident. Since then I have had the pacemaker readjusted and undertaken a number of follow up tests. it would now seem that I have vasovagal syncope. I undertook a tes...

First Day Back at Work

Today is going to be my first day back at work since the pacemaker. Nothing too stressful: I'm a university lecturer and I'm giving half of one lecture, so probably will only be there for a couple of hours.

But I'm so worried and anxious that the tachycardia I've had since the procedure is really going to play up. Am really hoping my beta-blocker keeps everything stable. It's 8am here in London, and I'm not teaching til 3pm. I feel like it's my first day at a new job. And it's goin...

The following is from an e-mail I received today. Is it true?

"In England no one over 59 can receive heart repairs or stents or bypass because it is not covered, as being too expensive and not needed."

Shocking

So I have a rather strange question. Every time I get out of my car I get shocked. Not by my pacemaker; by "shocked" I mean the kind where when you were a kid you would run your feet along the floor and touch something metal and see the "elelctric arc" go between your finger and the metal piece. Sometimes it's a small shock, sometimes it actually gets me quite good! Does anyone know if this actually does anything to the pacemaker?
