ICD with defibulator

I seem to still be having problems - of course I only had this done this past Monday the 19th. My heart seems to beat to hard and I have heart pains which I did not before. My blood pressure is up. Have there ever been a time when the pacemaker has been removed.
Please respond

bi ventricular pacemaker

Hi

I am to have a new bi-ventricular pacemaker soon. I currently have a dual chamber and have developed pacemaker syndrome. As I have a right systemic ventricle this has caused me to be very symptomatic.

Due to my congenital heart defect there is a good chance they will have to implant an epicardial pacemaker. I know this is commonly carried out on children and during cardiac surgery but I'm finding it difficult to find information on adults who have had this procedure ca...

Cystic Fibrosis

On the 1st of May, my grandson (14 years old) will be doing the Great Strides Walk for research in this very serious disease that begins at birth. Right now there is no cure, but the research has gone a long way to extend the lives of these young people. When Matt was born, the life expentancy was early teens. It has been extended for many years for most. As his doctor recently said, "He has angels watching over him". He is doing very well and is never without a smile....unless he is teasing his...

When to start

I had a pacemaker emergency on Tuesday 4/19/10 because of heart block. I experienced no prior symptoms. I played 11/2 hours of singles tennis 3 days straight prior to the surgery.I even played singles for 11/2 hours and biked 23 miles a few Sundays ago with no symptoms. My GP believes my heart block was brought on by an attack of severe cramps[ that brought me to the Doctor ]that Affected the A-V node.I did show some electrical irregularities on an EKG in 2005 that my GP said was not significant...

One Year Anniversary

Hello all, it will be one year with my pacemaker. Just like many of you said, I would be just fine and feel better. Yes, I do feel much better. The anxiety and depression are history. I just want to say thank you for all the support and advice given when I felt it was the end of the world. Having a PM will keep me around for many more years to enjoy my grandchildren and family. I haven't been on any rollercoasters yet, but I'm not going let the PM keep me on the sidelines. Again, thank yo...

Finally some good news!

Well hello Pacers,
Hope all of you are doing well. I know I have been horrible at keeping up with everyone. I'm slowly regaining energy. I have had a lot of problems the past four months.
I'm finally starting to regain a little energy. I had my pacer follow up today as I was having a lot of problems feeling weak. They adjusted it some. I am very hopeful that it will help me out a lot.
I still haven't found out why my adrenal gland is not functioning but at the end of t...

Post Implant Pain

I had a PM implanted due to a vagas nerve problem and have been experiencing pain almost continually since the implant.
At first the doctor felt it was soreness of the collar bone due to the procedure. It has since "spread" from the collar bone across the left side of my chest. I am being followed by my second pain clinic and acupuncturist. Have been on lidoderm patches, Voltarn Gel, nerve meds, muscle relaxers and pain meds. Even had physical therapy. We are discussing lidocaine injec...

hematoma

Thanks to Frank and Bella for your comments.
I am not in the hospital. The IV treatment is at home, so I do not see a physician daily, however I have had appointments with both the surgeon and the Infectious Disease doctor since discharge. I had a chest xray which was fine and bloodwork. They do not think the sob is from heart failure, but that is what it feels like. The hematoma seems not to be of any concern, but it is still about the size of a tangerine after 21/2 wks post surgical. I di...

Pacemaker Moved

Hello everyone. I had my icd put in at the end of Oct 2009. In Dec 2009, I had a second surgery to reattach the ventricle lead to my heart. I just found out that my icd moved and the atrial lead is not working. My doctor wants me to go in for a third surgery next Monday to reposition the icd and leads. She wants to have the surgeon stitch it down. Has anyone ever heard of this or had it done? My icd is on my left side above my breast and below my shoulder. Thanks for all your help.

Up and about.

Hello to my new friends.

I went into the hospital Tuesday and had my new "best friend" put in. They released me today, Wednesday. It feels funny under there and then naturally the pain and discomfort goes with it. But I'm happy I got it done, thanks to the encouragement of all of you. Now I can't wait for it to heal up so that I can improve my sleeping habits. Then I'll see if I get a jolt from those evil slot machines, ha! Once again thank you for all of your input, advice and prayer...

"SPARKY"

Hello All,

Have had a-fib for about six weeks. It seems to be the persistent version. Will be having a Cardioversion wed @ 7am after an esophogeal echo. Current meds include warafin,100mg atenolol, 300mg flecinide... Strong, but we hoped to restore the sinus rhythm.. It is a little scary to think you will be jump started. Has anyone had the pleasure of this procedure? Has anyone had any luck restoring with natural means. I've thought @"static electricity" but am not sure how to...

Feel "pacing"

Hey guys - I'm 25 yrs old and I just got my pacemaker implanted on 4/13 - I was diagnosed with inappropriate sinus tachycardia (resting HR 110+ and would shoot up to 190+ with little exertion) and they tried 14 different meds, and 2 ablations before implanting the pacemaker (over a period of 1 yr). During the last ablations (4/12/10), I basically told my doc to do all that he needed to do to drop my heart rate b/c the 1st ablation process only dropped my heart rate 10bpm and it didn't help. So,...

Question About Heart Rate

I have dual lead pacemaker for 2nd degree AV block. What I would like to know, is it normal to feel your heart beating when your rate increases. My rate is usually around 68-70 now, but at times I feel it start increasing and can feel something in my chest at that time. Doesn't hurt, doesn't cause shortness of breath, but it feels weird. Is this something they can control during my next pacemaker check in May?

Thanks for any feedback. Hope everyone is doing okay.

Is it so bad.....

to have a few food vices? Don't get me wrong, I a big proponent for living a healthy life, eating right, exercising, using natural cleaners in the home to avoid toxic fumes. But then there are things we encounter everyday that we can't avoid that can compromise our health.

My mother is 88 years old and other than severe ( osteo & RA)arthritis that leaves her in immense pain, she has no other health issues, except for high blood pressure. No heart issues, no diabetes, no cancer, etc. ....

Oesophageal Wrap

Hi everyone,
I know this is not a normal postage for heart diseases but does anyone have any info on the above procedure. I live in England and our country seems to be way behind others. My partner has just had this done and nobody seems to tell us anything. This was done because of another hospital making a big blunder during an operation and this is to correct it after 6 years.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Chemical Stress Test

Hi,
I am a 100% pacemaker dependent. Tomorrow I am having a chemical stress test. I think it is called a Dual Iso Adenos stress test.
Does anyone have any information on this test? What happens during the test? What is the purpose for this test? I had received a call with the date and time and some information on what to do 4 hours before test and that was all.
Thank-you
Dool

anyone know about this?

Hi Pacees,
I am still on IV antibiotics after surgery 4/6 to bury the pacemaker deeper. The staples are out and the incision looks good, but this big hematoma at the site is still hard and bothering me. The surgeon said not to worry, it will go away, but I am wondering WHEN? How long does it take? I can't find any info online. I am also tired and short of breath all the time. I'm really hoping the end of this stuff is near. Just wondering if the hematoma thing has happened to any of you a...

be well

Hi everyone.
I am 18 years old. I was born with third degree congenital heartblock with a resting heart rate of about 30 bpm. I was implanted with my first pacemaker when I was 8 days old. At the time I was the youngest person ever to have a pacemaker device implanted. This was in 1992. I have had my pacemaker changed three times, once when I was 2 because of a broken lead, once in 3rd grade because of a drained battery, and again in 9th grade again from a drained battery. My pacer is act...

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.
