POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS?

December 26th, my fourth TIA.

January 5th, ER and hospitalized 5-days for AFIB. I can't feel the heart beating but I definitely feel the side-effects. I was placed on blood-thinner and medication for the AFIB and told that most likely the TIA'S had been caused from attacks of AFIB and should not stop.

February 4th, I had a dual-chamber Boston Scientific PM inserted. My interrogation showed I wasn't using the lead to the lower-chamber at all. I was using the lead to the...

The "Appointment"

Hi Pacer friends. I have just arrived here at my office and was all ready to post my news when a client walked in so I had to logout and take care of him. Yippee for Clients! I like those people. :-)

Anyway, looks like I had a couple of "Remarkable Events" recorded on my Pacemaker since November. Those holidays can trigger some emotions! Yikes. My EJ (Ejection Fraction) is at 55%. Yay!

My Pacemaker is in EOL. Yikes. I still have a few weeks left so we decided that March...

artificial nails & pm implantation?

I was just told by a family member that I could not have artificial nails on during surgery? My doctor didn't say anything about it in all the pre surgery paperwork I received.

Pookie's Loop Recorder

Hi Ya'll.

Just posted a picture of me wearing my Loop/Event Recorder for those who have never seen one before.

And NO, you don't wear the tape recorder part up on one's bra, you usually wear it attached to the waist of your pants but I was taking this picture myself, which was pretty hard to do :)

Look closely and you will see that on the tape recorder part itself this particular one is called The King of Hearts....I'll be writing to the company for sure!!!!!!!!!...

Electric Items/Shock

This is a small, irrevelant question, but I have been meaning for several months to ask and just forget.

How is your PM suppose to react/feel when it runs into an older electrical item? I have an electric "shawl/blanket" given to me many moons/years ago way before PM. I used it for the first time several months ago, and I thought I felt "something" around the PM. I didn't use it for a few days and picked it up and used it without even thinking/remembering the "funny" feeling I had...

Appointment

Well, I have come to a realization that I don't like knowing that I have a surgery coming up. I would much rather have it happen as a surprise. I don't enjoy the "waiting period". I'm not used to having these things planned out. All my surgeries/hospital stays have been emergencies. Trust me there have been plenty of those.

I seem to have an overactive imagination and I now know a lot more about pacemakers than I ever thought I would. I know what questions to ask, when to worry, when...

COUGH

Good morning all. I am now almost two weeks into my recovery from dual lead pacemaker for 2nd degree av block and bradycardia.

My question today is: can a cough loosen the leads. I started coughing a little yesterday, dry cough, and have an appointment with my internist tomorrow for checkup. I am hoping that by coughing I cannot loosen any leads at this time. I have been very careful with my arm and had pacemaker checked last Monday at the ER and everything was fine at that point.

Infection

As most of you know my healing from my most recent surgery has been hard and challenging.I went in today b/c I couldn't stand that amount of pain in my incision. I didn't think it was infected but could see a stitch poking out. Well, behold it is infected.
So hear is my question how many of you have had had a infection in the incision that has healed with antibiotic without needing surgery.
The Dr is running tests to see if it is MRSA or what kind of infection it would be if it...

Doctor's appointment

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that I just got home from my cardiologist's office and everything is fine. I do have some mild heart failure, but they are hoping they can control with meds and keep me out of the hospital. Feeling good and very grateful. Just wanted to thank all of you guys for being so supportive to me during this hard time. Things are returning to normal.

is this related?

my daughter had her pacemaker placed just over a year ago and did well with recovery. she has had asthma symptoms develop over the last 6 months and is being treated daily for that. in the past week, she has had a couple episodes of swelling in her knuckles with a little redness....i don't know what its from?? could this all be related to the pacemaker or underlying condition of complete heart block? i did a little looking online (dangerous, i know) and saw these things could be related to...

Dizzy spells

Hi
This is my first message. I really have two problems I have had my pacemaker since Oct. of 2009. I had a total node ablation and pacing 100% with one lead on the lower chambers. I have had two dizzy spells in the past week and my tech. says everything looks fine. The last dizzy spells I was using my left am doing something over my head, I put my am down quickly to my side and the dizziness stopped. Also, my left arm to my elbow and the pacemaker site get sore when I use the arm for clean...

Almost a month post-ablation

Well, it has been an interesting ride so far. First week after the ablation, absolutely nothing went awry (no a-fib, no skipped beats, no irregular beat, etc). At exactly week two, I started having irregular beats again, but nothing major. At week three, I started having a-fib and a-flutter again, but again, not as severe as it has been in the past. Ironically, the most noticeable change since the surgery is that my resting heart rate seems to have increased. I've always heard that the hear...

Severe Tricuspid Valve Leak

Hi there
I have had my pacemaker for 13 years, 11 years completely problem free. Now I have developed a severe tricuspid valve leak, which is caused by the lead damaging the valve. I am from NZ and my cardiologist says that removing the lead after all this time is hugely risky and that he has never removed leads after so long.
Has anyone out there had this happen? I am 44 so I do not want to be so inactive - I get so tired from the smallest activity, walking etc whereas I used to play...
