My head is spinning

3 different doctors, 3 different opinions. Neither doctor has a pacemaker so I am asking all of you that had episodes of heart block before your pacemaker!!!

When you had an episode what did it feel like? Did it feel like mine? I would feel a little dizzy, then I would feel my pulse and I wouldn't have one for a few seconds...then all of a sudden I would feel my heart RACE.

One doctor said my racing after the block was normal as there was probably some blood backed up and...

PM Check & Interrogation

I've been wanting to ask a few questions from the membership about timely PM checks. I have phone check-ups every other month in the first 2 years of each PM generator with monthly checks the years following until replacement time. Is this overkill as I went 2 months without my PM this past year?

I read a lot of posting of fear of interrogation & phone or office checks having ill effects. I question if I'm the only one who gets a real high when using the magnet to check my PM?...

Having second thoughts

I am a 54 yr old male, diagnosed with bradycadia. I started having trouble in July 09, went through stress test, dopplar, sleep study, etc. everything fine.

My HR would get down to upper 30s, never fainted but came real close 3 times, just general fatigue and aniexity, chest/back pressure when HR drops.

First cardio doc said no big deal just getting old. Second was ready to implant that day. Third opinion did a month long event monitor and says that "a PC should reliev...

Thanks for replying

Thanks to those who replied to my last posting. It was good to hear from former members

It has been a rocky few weeks and I really appreciate hearing from my old friends. Kookaburralaughing: I will be over on in May for a couple of months so I hope we can make that date for our picnic in the park. Anyone else in the Geelong/Colac/Torquay area interested in a meet up?.

It is good to see the Aussie Pacers interacting. You never know we might just have a Meet Up this side...

Feeling wired?

Hi. I was just wondering...how will I feel after having a heart rate of 47 and then suddenly up to 60? Will I feel wired like a just drank 5 cups of coffee, or will I just feel more healthy and energetic? Also, are any of you having trouble sleeping with a faster heart rate?

Panic Attacks

I feel like I'm going crazy!!! I'm 34 years old and I have a ICD / Pacemaker....for about 2 years now. Last April it shocked me...I was running upstairs and my heart rate jumped to 200 bpm. Since then, I have been shocked three additional times for VF and AF. Because of these shocks, I get panic attacks and I am always scared about "the next time." I am a public speaker and youth advocate...I am always on the road. Everytime I get ready to speak, I panic and my heart goes crazy. I am now...

Scared

Hi. I am a 49 y/o female and I have congenital 2nd degree heart block. After wearing a Holter monitor my cardiologist wants me to have a pm installed. During sleep my heart rate goes down to 29 bpm. I am very nervous about it. I have heard a lot of complications after the installation. But my main concern is does it hurt to have it installed? Can anyone tell me about their surgery? Maybe help me ease my fears? Thanks.

More changes

Hi Everyone,
I know I have been posting for a lot of people lately and I have been ignoring aymptoms again. i know I probably should go to the ER, but again i don't want to. I have been having these crazy episodes of lightheadedness that can sometimes last up to an hour. My head feels strange almost like floaty and my balance is off. I thought it was just from dehydration or not eating regularly, but it happened tonight just after dinner while I was holding my niece. I had to put her down....

Pookie's MIBI Test

Hi Everyone.

Well I survived yet another MIBI.

Arrived at hospital at 8am. IV inserted in top of hand (ouch) at 8:45am & an isotope was injected. Then I waited for 45 minutes; then pictures were taken...sort of like a CT scan. It took exactly 12 minutes. I was laying down & had to stretch my arms over my head...omg...my poor rotator cuff, I cried it was SO sore.

Anyways, I got thru that part. Then I was sent away to do whatever I wanted to (except drink c...

Where my Peeps at?

Im twenty-four now, but I was sixteen when I was diagnosed with sick sinus syndrome and got my pacer. I never thought twice about it untill It started coming up in conversations. "I dont believe...

Post Implant Murmur?

Hey, has anyone else in the group had a murmur show up AFTER implant? I just got back from my docs to have him check out a murmur that his NP had heard on my last visit and my doc said he doesn't hear anything BUT it is possible to develope a murmur after implant due to the lead rubbing against the valve flap but it i...s a very rare occurance and I was wondering how many other Brady Bunchers might have had post implant murmur issues. Again, mine appears to have disappeared but wondering if any...

AV Node Ablation - Take Two

Due to my CHF, pulmonary hypertension and assortment of atrial fibs and flutters, I had my AV node ablated in Dec. 2008. It was a mircale! No more heart racing. I was still in and out of flutter, but I could no longer feel it.

The past several weeks I've noticed a gradual decline in how I've felt. Hard to figure out what the cause is because I have a lot going on heart-wise. It slowly dawned on me that some of the symptoms were like my arrhythmia symptoms of the past. My pm wa...

Does anyone know what this is??

I hate to keep asking questions...I am sorry but I have a new thing that is happening for the last week or so. If anyone has read my older posts they know that I have been having rate issues. Well now I have this crazy thing kind of like a pvc except that I will have three or four fast beats then a pause then a hard beat(not two in a row like a pvc) then three or four slow beats. This goes on for hours at a time. Does anyone have a clue what this is and why my pacemaker wouldn't step in during t...

Lead wires, strange smell, etc

WoW!! First of all let me thank the many angels on this sight who help the rest of us inexperienced with PMers & other related side effects by responding to our concerns. You truly are angels in my life, as I don’t really feel comfortable discussing the many details of DH’s condition with anyone else. (We don’t have children & I don’t wish to burden our friends with our health details.)

Anyhow, -- Thanks so much for your thoughtful responses to my concerns. DH is still working full ti...

Swine Flu vaccine

Hi,

Just wanted your opinions on wheather or not it is important to have the Swine Flu vaccine considering we have pm's?

I live in Australia, and with our Winter coming up, it has been in the news today that health authorities are worried that there will be another outbreak (like last year) as not many people have taken advantage of the vaccine.

I am VERY weary of getting a vaccine that was developed so quickly and possible side effects...but I think that it w...
