Hi,
I have looked at this site many times but have never, until now had the need to write anything. I have known for two months now that I need to have a pacemaker fitted and that day is arriving far too quickly! This Saturday 30th Jan.
I am so scared, I keep reading everyones comments in the hope to feel better but they only make me feel worse!
I am not looking forward to the operation, which thanks to the internet I have seen a 1000 times, or the after effects.

The Next Generation

All of us here have our issues. Most of us have lead healthy lives and through no fault of our own we have heart problems that require pacers. Since I was a kid there has always been something about my heart that the Dr's couldn't figure out. I was always going in for some kind of test but nothing other than a murmur was found. These test took place in the 1960's through the 1970's. I always felt something may be wrong so I lived healthy. I worked out with weights from a very early age. I...

Still hanging in there...

I haven't stopped by the site in a while but wanted to check in. I'm still going strong on the panic attack free bandwagon! And I needed to take a minute to say thanks to all those who sent me so many well wishes and words of advise since my drama began in September.

I was so wrapped up in fear before, that reading them and truly understanding them was hard to do. But now that I am a little more level headed, I have gone back and read them again. Some make me giggle and other make me...

Need Advise

Hi everyone,
I know I should know this as a nurse, but I become my own worst enemy when something is wrong. I have been having chest pain's on and off over the last 2 days. I'm not having now. It lasts not very long ( I get it and sometimes it lasts 20 minutes and tonight it was only about 5). I have never had this before and the pain went into my left arm. As of right now I have absolutely no pain. I had this last night and it lasted 20 minutes. i have never been diagnosed with angina and...

ScaleQuestion

Thanks to the two that responded to my question about my pacemaker affecting digital scales. It really helps me to decide what to do. This is such a wonderful information website. You guys helped me through my first two years of having 100% dependence on my pacemaker. I am now allmost three years in
to it and I dont know what I would have done without you. Thanks a bunch. DD

Second pacemaker in 6 months

I have not posted in awhile. I have been off work since October. I had my first pacemaker placed in July 09. The cardiologist that did it, said he could not put in my second lead, since I had Persistent Left Superior Vena Cava, which is a malformation of the heart or a birth defect. I tried going back to work in August, and during my time back at work at that time, I left work 4 times to go to the ER. I don't remember how many times they kept me, because I was in the hospital so many times...

I got my second when I was 4, and my next one when I was 8. I currently have my TENTH one. I do not mind if you find me as a FRIEND on FACEBOOK (Charles Edward Nobles) or MYSPACE ( repwork...

Under the influence?

Hello to all in Pacerland,

I was just reading some of my recent postings and I have to say that I am amazed that anyone can fully understand what I was trying to say.

I find it very disturbing that I have left out words, spelled words in ways that leave a lot to the imagination and used words that don't belong.

All I can say is that I hope you will forgive me, as I have been on some very strong medications for pain this last week. Odd thing is that I thought th...

Any advice for a future ICD'er

Hello, I will be having a Bi-Valve Defibrillator with a Pacemaker implanted on Feb5th. I'm 64 yrs old and have CHF and much difficulty in breathing, My ejection fraction was around 35% after I had my 1st MI 15 yrs ago. After the 2nd one last November it has dropped to 15-20%. I am very positive about the implant improving my chances to live to see my grandchildren as they grow up but also apprehensive as to how much the defibrillator will improve my EF. I have been a diabetic for 35 yrs-a br...

DigitalScaleProblem

I have had three digital scales and they were weighing me all over the place. I go to weight watchers so I had something to compare it with. My daughter suggested that it might be my pacemaker that was causing the scale to go haywire. I guess they have a magnet so it could be? I have an analog scale now and it is just fine. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Thanks, DD

how long?

How long should it take before my pacemaker settings are where they should be? I had a pacemaker put in 12/1/09 very suddenly. I am 45 and had been fainting on and off for 2 years prior. I went to the ER and they admitted me. I had been on a heart monitor before but nothing ever happened. Finally it did while I was in the hospital. I felt wonderful after I got it until this past Thursday when I had a near fainting spell at work. I went to the ER again and they adjusted it. I really thoug...

When it's my time- what happens?

I"ve been wondering since my PM was put in for my heart skip-
ping beats and low pulse rate. The PM is pacing 95% of the
time.
So, one day it's gonna be my time. If my heart decides to stop, and the PM keeps pacing-- what happens? Or, i have an acci-
dent and my body shuts down but my PM keeps pacing--what
then? I have a sickness but the PM keeps going. I guess you
can determine what I am asking.
Basically, what happens. How will the PM affect my passing?

BIONIC MONDAY...

I am 59 and getting my PM on Monday . I must stay I am a little Apprehensive. This web site looks like a great place for some down to earth information which is hard to come by from Dr.

I really have not had many symptoms and was reluctant to move forward. They put a holter on me and my PR dropped to 25 over night and doesn't really recover above 44 during the day. I keep telling them I am just really healthy, but they said no and the fact it pauses some was concerning them. So...

Dizziness

Hi Everyone.

From time to time I see some members post about their dizziness. Dizziness can be so hard to describe to a doctor and dizziness can be a symptom to many many things.

Anyways, I was dizzy a lot (and still am to a degree as I have Hypotension Intolerance, Neurocardiogenic Syncope and a form of Meniere's Disease)...so, this questionnaire was given to me by my ENT and it helped him narrow down what tests to give me & I thought I could share this with you as someti...
