My sister received a PM approximately 2 months ago after having multiple instances of passing out, several of which occurred at her job in Tennessee. She works at a local fast food chain. It may not be much of a job, but it is all she has at this point.
Prior to the discovery by a prominent Nashville TN hospital that the pacemaker would remedy her passing out issues, her employer required for her primary care physician to fill out a form stating whether or not she was able to work. Th...

I feel like I'm never get my next office check. I've been having monthly phone checks because my battery has about 1yr left.(according to the last office check) and am suppoused to go to the office every 6 months. I was supposed to go 1 1/2 weeks ago but had to change it because I got suponeaned to go to court the same day. (very upset, there until 1 and then the case was dismissed and it was something I had no real involvement in) I rescheduled for today at 1. The office called last week to cha...

Tuesday is my scheduled surgery date. The two surgeons performing have cleared away a entire day for it. So I ask that you would say a prayer for me on Tues. that all goes well. Thanks!

Been a competitive swimmer most of my life. Very slow heart beat finally led to the pacemaker in 2008. Surgeon knew that I swam and encouraged me to go right back to it after healing. Been back swimming hard for 1 1/2 years. Lately, my right upper arm (pacer is on the right side)swells during practice to the point that my bicep looks like the Hulk's when practice is over. Have had two different types of scans to see what is going on. Everything looks OK and pacer and leads are fine. Doc thin...

Yesterday was a beautiful day. It was sunny and in the 40's. I started thinking a few more days like this and I may be able to play golf. I woke up this morning to snow. Lots of heavy snow. I tried to put my beagle (Sully) outside. He stuck his nose out the door and turned around and went back to bed. I do have a snow blower but I prefer to shovel. Today was tough because it's the heavy wet snow that sticks to the shovel. I will always shovel the snow. People tell me I shouldn't shovel...

Hello fellow bionicness. I hope all is well. Well, I believe I have spoken in my formal voice for long enough. Anyways, after missing you all until I could bear it no longer, and after reading all the comments attached to my last post, I have deemed it cruel to stay away from all of you for too long. I have also found my quotes deeply missed, so here is the first QOTW since... I forget when.

Hi all in Pacer land, I am still on the slow learning curve, and have a few questions.
What is the difference between SafeR (AAI<=>DDD) and
DDDR
On basic Parameters under Smoothing I am set at Off now and it was at Slow
Under Rate response the current value is Learn it was at RRauto.
After being told that I had pauses they put in a Pacemaker, and things have not gone so good.
I finally convinced by Cardio to do more testing and m...

I'm a Police Captain with over 32 years on a county police agency on the east coast. I received my St. Jude's PM/ICD on 1/12/09, and a month later I'm feeling great. I started my workouts last week to begin the road back to running and lifting again. I'm still on light duty/restricted duty at work (can't wear a gun or uniform and have to work my regular administrative job). Any police officers out there that have returned to full duty with a PM/ICD? Joe in VA

Can anyone tell me the best hospital in US where I can get the pacemaker surgery? My doctor in Delaware has messed up my pacemeaker replacement and it appears I have an infection.

I had my dual chamber pacemaker inserted last September and posted a comment then about problems I was having - I was experiencing what felt like extremely strong heart beats from time to time but ended up thinking that it was just nearby chest muscles being activated. Even a discussion with the cardiologist's nurse (wasn't able to speak to him) resulted in no action. To cut to the chase, I finally fronted up to the practice in November and a check found that the ventricular lead was not posit...

What I'm about to tell you is nothing short of incredible. I posted on 14 Jan how fantastic I felt coming home with My new pacer/defib. That evening (Friday) around 7:30 pm I was sitting at My laptop when a feeling came over Me like I have Never experienced before. I was getting ready to pass out. I yelled for My wife & as I was heading towards the kitchen floor I could hea...

Tonight I read though a lot of recent post and it got me thinking about myself and my attitude towards my internal bling bling.....
Today, I'm loving my pacer!! It's a total love hate relationship.. more love than hate. Ya' see, I was a newlywed when I got my beautiful internal bling bling. And this coming May will be 4 years of wonderful bliss. If I had not gotten my pacer, I'd be pushing up daisies and my dear sweet husband's life would be empty. Cause it's a fact that living w...

I've been searching on the ClinicalTrials.gov website for months looking for trials in which the benefit for me would be a free pacemaker. Since I don't have health insurance, I figure that would be a way to get the pacemaker I need.
Has anyone (anywhere) participated in a clinical trial for pacemakers? I have seen them posted, but I found them once they were no longer accepting new people. This site I mentioned has 3 trials all for pacemakers, one is located about 30 minutes from m...

I got the second opinion suggested by so many - and - lo and behold - it seems the lead had indeed moved. (Hence the sharp burning pain in my chest.......) Revising the lead was suggested - and completed this past Friday. Seems the newest (and until Friday - not working) lead had bonded (albeit inappropriately) with the failed lead. The extraction process is not to be described for the faint of heart (so to speak) but includes a drill and other (fortunately - not necessary at the very last...

I hated my pacer and everything that came along with it. I hate interrogations, coumadin tests, co-pays and meds.
I love spending time with my family, going fishing, working out and taking in baseball games. I realize I can't do the things I enjoy unless I do the things I hate. The pacer is necessary. I'm not sure where I would be without it but I know how I felt before I got the pacer and I never want to back to that again. The funny thing is the pacer is doing it's job 24 hrs a day 7 d...

Hi... I just wanted to ask I have had my PM since Oct 09
and once in awhile I still get the short of breath business
I have had my PM read over the phone and in person
and they say all is well... however I am wondering if I need to have the PM interrogated again? Dual PM for low pulse is why I had to get one of these....other then that I am good to go
so just wondered if anyone had SOB and had the PM adjusted for that? I am not on any meds and only take vitamins.
any...
