Lead removal

I recently had my 3rd PM surgery during the last 15 months due to a fractured lead. Naturally, my regular surgeon was on vacation and his backup did the surgery, but was unable to remove the old lead. Then during my last checkup my EP said I might want to think about having the old lead removed due to my age(37). Is it possible to run out of areas to implant the leads.

Thank
You

Pacemaker & Low blood pressure

I used to take blood pressure medication for high blood pressure. Since I got my pacemaker my blood pressure has gone down. I no longer take high blood pressure medications. My blood pressure gets too low. Every day it gets down to 80 or 90,s over 40 or 50's. Once it got down to 75/39. There are times I feel I am going to pass out. My pacemaker is set for a low of 70 bpm and a high of 130 bpm. I have Atrial Fibrillation and Sick Sinus Syndrome. I got my pacemaker July, 2008.

Rides

Hello everyone,
I am off to Disneyworld soon for 2 weeks, and although I know that you have to be careful not to go on rides which shake you about too much ( which i have no intention of doing anyway)!, does anybody know of any other rides I need to steer clear of , eg; any which involve large magnets or any other problems for people with pacemakers.
Thanx Jan

Company outting time again...

It's that time of year and I don't know why my company insists on having our summer outting at a Water Park.

I went down to HR and requested...

"On behalf of the swim-suit challenged, be it because of weight, appearance, or chunks or metal hanging out of their chest, I formally request that the company summer outting be relocated to somewhere kid, swim-suit challanged, and adult friendly."

Signed "shorts out when wet"

100% ventricular pacing

My tech has told my pacemaker is pacing 100%, and that this is not good as it can lead to heart atrophy. Anyone know more about this?

Thank You!

I just wanted to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers through my recent surgery.

The surgery went well, and I am feeling better than I have in months. I am still in a lot of pain, but that is to be expected after such an invasive surgery. I am home recovering, and although it has been much more difficult and painful than I anticipated, I know that I will be grateful in the end.

My hubby has been amazing, and I have a great circle of friends and family. I am so gra...

Copied from the world news this morning

Relatives of a dead man in spain asked a doctor to confirm his death a second time because his body showed no signs of going pale hours after his death.
The 70 year old died of a heart attack and his body was on display at a funeral home in Lorca Spain.
His family noticed he still had a pink glow.
They then called the doctor to confirm that thier loved one was dead.
The doctor concluded that the man still had a healthy glow despite having passed away because the pacemaker he...

Thanks and technical advice needed

First of all I wanted to say thanks to all of you who gave me advice 3 weeks ago about having my first pacemaker fitted. It was great to hear from people who have had real experience of them, rather than the medical staff who just tell you what to expect. Anyway I had it fitted so now I can join you as a fully fledged member.

It's been 3 weeks now and I'm still ever so stiff and have lots of muscular pain. Probably overdoing it, as I have 2 young children and am still cleaning, coo...

The most painful experience...

I have had in a while happened while driving. I was a inch from getting hit by a vehicle yesterday. I had enough time to look and jerk my vehicle to another lane after checking to make sure there were no cars in the middle. I was going 40 and had to slam on my brakes. The guy was just switching lanes and decided it would be ok with my car right there.
The issue I have is from the jerk so fast my seat belt locked and I had really thought he had hit me and I still think that he did my mom...

Three Lead Device Questions

I have had a three lead CRT-D device by Boston Scientific for less than a week. My left ventricle lead is turned off due to irritating the phrenetic nerve and my diaphragm. It is implanted inside an artery.

My tech says it is unlikely it will settle in, if it hasn't by now. My doctor is asking me to wait four more weeks and try again.

I also have had an awful time mentally and emotionally acclimating to this invasion of my chest and my life. I keep sensing it humming throug...

Insurance policies post pacer?

"Hello to All!"

I will am just learning about pacemakers because I most likely will be told I need one next week during a doctor's visit. Anyway, I am wondering what has been anyone experience with changing medical insurance plans after pm. Did your new carrier give you any problems covering the costs of medical costs (i.e. check-ups, etc) associated with heart condition? As for life insurance policies ---- did you have any problems getting coverage after you disclosed you had a pm?...

Pain killers

I am scheduled for hip surgery soon. I had a PM put in 2 months ago and all is fine, except the hip. I also have rheumatoid arthritis and am currently off meds because of surgery coming up, but in some pretty good pain. One of my Drs. prescribed 7.5 hydrocodone/Acetaminophen for pain 3 times a day. Upon getting home and reading the label noticed some of the side effects are arrhythmia and slow heart rate, not to mention difficulty breathing. Is this safe to take or should I...

SHOCKING STATE OF AFFAIRS

Yesterday in the papers and on the News at ten on television it was reported that the UK is desparately short of drugs and 50 different drugs are becoming very difficult to source. Apparently because of the collapse of the value of the pound it is more profitable to sell drugs which are made here to other countries, leaving uk patients to suffer. Patients are having to go without their medication. They include cancer drugs ,pain killers , epilepsy drugs, blood pressure drugs, antidepressants etc...
