My dad just got his 2nd pacemaker. It was supposed to be a regular, maybe outpatient procedure. My mom was told they wanted to keep him overnight for observation--no big deal.
Upon his arrival at home, my mom noticed he had a massive bandage on his chest and was covered from head to toe with bruises. Even his lower lip was purple. During my dad's stay
the hospital, a nurse told him that his heart had stopped during surgery and they had to give him electric shock to start it back u...

I had a Medronic Atapta pacemaker implanted on Aug. 7. Within 4 hs. my BP began to rise and and peaked at 202/90 14 hrs. later. I was given additional med. to bring my BP under control and discharged. Since then my BP which has become hypertensive is being treated with a combo of Lisinopril and Norvasc but the results are erratic. I asked the cardiologist what is causing this hypertension, since before the implant my BP was generally 140 or less systoic and 70 or less diasystolic without med...

I am asking because yesterday durning a storm the static electricity wiped out the memory on a coworkers radio and I was a little concerned it could happen to my PM. thanks

The doctor called and told me that the holter monitor shows my pacer was not kicking in, but that I did have some extra heart beats. He said they're nothing to worry about and I only had 109 extra beats in 24 hours. He told me it was a low number compared to others who's heart have much higher number of extra beats. He said that he even seen one that had close to 20,000 extra beat. They can't hurt you, is what he said, but, I really don't like the feeling of my heart having extra beats. Can anyo...

I read a few other posts. I had the replacement surgery a week ago - felt great at first. The last 3 nights I have felt the area - it feels hot. Also, my chest hurts and it radiates down my arm. I know it's not a heart attack - I'm not dead. I think some of it is fear making it worse. I feel skipping once in a while - maybe 3 quick beats - but basically the heart rate is 60 as set. I will call the doctor today. Could this be normal healing?
Thanks.

I just received my Sonicare replacement and noticed in the instructions that pm wearers are supposed to contact their docs or device manufacturer before use...(after I finally managed to rip/cup open the nearly human-proof packaging no less:). Anyone have any input on using them with a pm? I'd been using mine until it conked out a couple weeks ago and I'm still here, but just thought I'd ask.
Thanks,

If my body were a car, this is the time I would be thinking about trading it in for a newer model. I've got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish, and my paint job is getting a little dull. But that's not the worst of it. My headlights are out of focus, and it's especially hard to see things up close.
My traction is not as graceful as it once was. I slip and slide and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather.
My whitewalls are stained with varicose veins....

Who feels palpatations?

I have told many Dr.'s I feel palpatations or painful heartbeats. They don't last long and some hurt more than others.
Cardio said 'people don't feel palpatations-well most people don't'
I told him I could write down the times and he could compare it to pm readings.
I requested my records, he has written 'no palpations'.
Who feels palpations?
Anyone had similar pain?

I am a 23 yr old female. I had my pacemaker implanted at age 15 so I have it 8 yrs. These past few days I have been experiencing dull pain all around my pacemaker area, armpit, left arm and left breast.
I can't see the doctor until at least Tuesday and I wondered if anyone had any insight as to what it may be or if you experience similar pain.
In the 8 years of having my pacemaker I have not experienced this.
Thanks,
Indigest

Hi:Everyone: Understand the questions! But no one has answered. My heart is at 50% which great seeing in was 15% before the ICD in 2005 just had the batteries replaced in 4/13 /09 . The Dr. for the ICD says this is the only thing keeping my heart going!
