Need your help please!

My pacemaker is on stand-by, it only beats when my heart goes below 40 beats. I've been having problems with feeling the ventrical lead beating a lot in the past couple of days. The reason I know it's the ventrical is because when I go for my pacemaker check, I'm very sensitive to the ventrical lead beating my heart. I made an appointment with my EP yesterday and the tech told me that my heart is beating on it's own about 99.9 percent of the time, but, why am I feeling the ventrical lead pace f...

Pacer Checkup

I have a question about the pacer checkup (interogation). Can an checkup (interogation) be read incorrectly? I had a checkup in late June. I have a dual lead Metronic pacemaker for 3rd degree heart block and have had it for 6-1/2 years now. I have always pacer around 30% pacer / 70% natural in the upper chamber and 70% pacer / 30% natural in the lower chamber. During my last checkup my lower chamber reading changed to pacing in the 90% range. During this interogation the technican did not put th...

Being from Berlin I just wanted to say: A very warm welcome to all the athletes and those who'll be watching the competitions on TV! Have fun!

I was at the welcome party at the Brandenburger Tor yesterday evening, and will be in the Olympic Stadium tomorrow (100m finals men) and on Saturday 22nd. Berlin is definitely ready to host this great event, and everyone so excited!

My 12 yo just got a pm- help!

My superactive soccer-obsessed 12 yo daughter just got an epicardial pacemaker this week. The surgeon did a pretty good job with a subxiphoid placement and we'd love for her to keep playing. It is the only thing she is passionate about and she is pretty good- we would just really hate to say she can't play- it would devastate her. Any thoughts- any experience? She is NOT pacemaker dependent although we realize if it broke they'd have to go in again. So- she doesn't play OR she wears a protector...

I've won a ribbon!

I have some fun news. I live in a very small town just 15 miles south of Wichita, Kansas. Every year for the last 135 years or so, there has been a town picnic. Well, actually now it has become a full blown festival. Thousands of people flock to our town of 5000 people. There are all kinds of events and activities. There is a Window display contest and I have won a ribbon for decorating windows in the store fronts downtown! It has been a lot of work, but well worth it. I now have won 1st, 2nd,...

Implant Birthday

Happy Implant Birthday to me and Sonkitty.

Yep we were inducted, and officially joined the long list of implantees here on 8/14/08. The year of the Olympics in Beijing, and the so called lucky "8".I can't speak for her, but it's been quite a year for me. I'm so glad that I found this place.

Cyborg Runner's 1 year implant anniversary is also this month. For some reason I was thinking his implant anniversary is tomorrow, but now am wondering if that is just a figment of my i...

Evening all...

Hi all, I havent checked in on this for a while but had a pm check yesterday and wanted to vent a little. Hope nobody minds. Im 26, Irish and have the pm 3 years and it has made a big difference.
What gets me is that I was never 'diagnosed' as such. I was told I have and electrical fault and that a pm was my best option. I was having 'episodes' for many years where palpitations and sweating would start then my heart rate would drop dramatically, I would get a tightness in my chest and esse...

"Out of shape"? or not?

I have had my pm for about 6 months now and still do not feel "normal." I saw my cardiologist this week and he said I can do anything I did before the pm, but that is not happening. I still feel very "out of shape" and cannot do the things that I normally did prior to the pm with out getting out of breath. For example, yesterday I rode my bike for only four miles and was breathing hard.I used to be able to ride 10 miles with out that feeling. I also notice that every day things can also make...

Dual to single

Hey guys,
as you know i've been having a few problems with my pm with what I thought are palpitations and really uncomfortable. For the 13yrs of having a pm I have always had a single chamber up until 2yrs ago when I was impanted with a dual chamber pm. I had never ever experienced this weird sensation like i have been since the upgrade and they have spent the whole 2yrs trying to work out what the problem is!! But it turns out that I only use the ventricular lead 1% of the time and the a...

1. Swelling 2. Driving

I am now 8 days post implant and really feel much more energy and am so pleased. I am still quite swollen & back/blue/yellow/green and it looks like I have about a half of a hard boiled egg sticking out of my chest. Will it disappear completely over time or will it always still have a noticeable bump? (Im 59 and fairly muscular & have a Medtronic PM).
DRIVING - how soon do most people start driving after surgery - I have an automatic trans. and feel ready, but my doc had said 2 weeks - is...

dizziness and complications

Well let me begin by saying if I didnt have bad luck I wouldnt have any luck at all!. Summary- I got a PM implanted on 6/11/2009 for atrial tach/SVT. I had an AV node ablation on July 29th leaving me 100% paced and that night I my ventricle lead failed (likely because they hit with a catheter when doing my ablation). August 2nd I was back in the cath lab to have a new lead placed. About 3 days after that I developed this very achey chest pain. It worsened to the point where I had it 24/7...

Electronically Challenged...

Things are spiraling out of control. I think I have become lost in a world of electronic madness.

One of my sons informed me this week that my cell phone has become obsolete and I must head down to the cell phone store and get a phone that is contemporary with the time.

I pointed out that the fancy razor/slimline phone with camera built in that he made me trade my perfectly good flip-top Motorola cell phone for two years ago still works perfectly fine. Well, except...

Shoves

I've had my pacemaker for over 5 years now. It's funny how much I don't even realize it anymore. The only thing that bothers me is that people love to give friendly shoves, and it always seems to be in the spot where my pacemaker is! Even people who know I have one sometimes forget. They wonder why it hurts like hell, then they realize...oh well, guess it's good that people don't think too hard about it.

One depressing movie

OMG did I ever make a mistake. Had heard it was a great movie (and it is, one of the best I have seen in a while) but it was the wrong movie at the wrong time. Watched The Wrestler last weekend, right before I had to leave on my first business trip since I had my PM implanted. While the movie is really great it left me worn out and depressed after watching it. I am still in the up and down emotional part of my recovery and it was hard to watch and even harder to think about when it was over.

Update!

Hi Friends,
I don't think Amanda will mind me posting this but many of you know that Amanda was having open heart surgery today. I ask that you would continue to pray for her and her husband. I talked to her husband and the surgery went well. It didn't last near as long as I would have thought it would. Now we can all pray that the pain does not last long and that this will be the solution for all the discomfort she has had.
Have a blessed night!

Love,
Tammy...

soreness 6 months pm implant

I've had my pacemaker for about 6 months now and it's still quite sore where the pacemaker sits. Has anyone else experienced this?

My doctor said it could take up to 6 months for scar tissue to fill in there, but I thought for sure by this point the soreness would be gone.

Thanks

pacemakers & computer ??????

This is the first time to post : I have had my pacemaker for about 8 months now. (nov. 08) I recieved my PM a week after I
had OHS having my AVR. I had total heart block and I am 100% paced. My heart rate is set for 80/140.
My question is: has anyone had any issue with being on the computer and having platations & fluttering & some shortness of breath start ?
I had noticed for awhile that I can't seem to stay on the computer as long as I use too...and then I notice within about 5...
