Dear Friends,

I found this site a couple of days ago and I’m kind of curious about a couple of things. But first let me tell you why I was even looking for something on pacemakers.

I got a pacemaker for slow heart beat about four mo. ago and it has been a trip. I was told to expect to be kind of sore for a few days to a week but by the end or the week I probably wouldn’t even know I had one. Didn’t work that way. It was three weeks before I could even move my arm withou...

After a fall

Hi, guess I'm posting this because I've been thinking about it enough that I'm a litte anxious. I tripped and fell the other day, landed hard on my left knee then rolled to my left side (BTW my PM is on my left side above my breast, implated on 10/30/07 so I'm just under 5 months postop) Right after the fall I felt HORRIBLE, aside from the pain in my knee, I felt very light headed, short of breath and was getting a thumping in my chest, kind of like the beat I get when the PM is turned off (I...

Boston Scientific (who purchased Cadance) is in the process of testing their new devices to 5 atmospheres (ATA). Since the testing and study are currently under way - if we can all make calls and encourage the testing to "7 atmospheres" (ATA) we will accomplish several things. See bottom of post for phone number contact. This is our chance to make a positive change as the costs are mostly just additions to the current study. Once they stop testing, it would be quite costly to undertake a ne...

Answer to: What is an EP study?

The Electrophysiology Study
A catheter study for diagnosing and treating cardiac arrhythmias

By DrRich

The electrophysiology study (EP study) is a special catheterization test in which electrode catheters (flexible, insulated wires with metal electrode tips) are inserted into the heart in order to study the cardiac electrical system. The cardiac electrical system is important because it controls the heart rhythm, and abnormalities in the electrical system are responsib...

Biotronic

Hi fellow Biotronic patient. I had a two lead pm put in Feb. 2007. One lead in right atrium and on in right ventricle. I am 100% dependent because of a complete av node ablation due to atrial fibrillation and palpitations. I have two email addresses that I have contacted Biotronic for. They are andrea.jabel@biotronick... and dan.dahlke@biotronic... My questions were answered almost immediately. My pm is set at 60 for low and iam not sure what the high is. I agree with you the best person...

Diaphragm Contractions

I have a two-lead pacemaker which was implanted almost two weeks ago. I go back to my Electrophysiologist in three days for a follow-up visit. All is well except that I have a twitching in my diaphragm - so strong that it's easily visible through my clothes. It feels like a hiccough, but without the catching of the breath. It occurs several times a day, lasting only a minute or so.

Is this abnormal?

Search Facility

Can't believe I have been using the site for seven weeks and have only just found the 'Search' on the top right. And that is thanks to Harley63 who mentioned in a reply to a posting that I have just read. It is brilliant and provides answers to most of the questions that I have asked over the last weeks - so I probably didn't need to actually post these questions, all the answers were already there.

The plus side of not seeing it is that I had to pluck up the courage to get involved...

Biotronick

Hi everyone this is only my second post but I would like to say THANKS. First of all I could kick myself in the booty for not getting all the info I could about the type of pacer I have, and just blindly accepting that cardiologists would know everything about PM...unbelievable gullibility. Well here is my long story short version. In May of 2004 I had a biotronick pm put in everything was fine with me and the pm until this summer and I had moved to AR from Calif. needed a cardio dr so I fou...

Rare diseases...

Hey, it's me again! Ok, you know how tou see a whole bunch of awareness signs for things like autism, cancers, and whatnot? Not to draw away the attention from those diseases, but wouldn't it be nice if we all got together and raised awareness for less common things like congenital heart block and congenital heart disease! Just my two cents worth...+

ipods are OK!

I just found this article. It says that ipods and other digital music players don't interfere with pacemakers. But, it does interfere with the equipment that interogates the pacemaker.

Dreams

Thanks for sharing your dreams (nightmares) with me. Once again it is good to know I am not alone and not going 'nuts'! Going to have a go at the affirmation before I go to sleep - thanks for that.

Re medication, I am not on a heart meds and my blood pressure meds haven't be altered since my PM and I've been on them for years - amlodopine, lisinopril, indapamide plus an aspirin. My BP is well controlled at the moment. So I do think it is anxiety related and this is also affecting...

Feeling like a big CHICKEN...Help!

August of 2007, I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure(EF-25%) this was after about 4 month with the doctors thinking and treating me as if I had asthma. Wow do I wish this could be treated with just an inhaler...lol. In December 2007, I received a Bi-ventricular Pacemaker/Defibrillator. I am 36 years old and was looking for some support and ran across this website. It has not been the best 3 months with the implant; I have had to go back for surgery 2 more times because my leads con...

Weight training post PM

There are some observed contradictions from my doc and his pacemaker staff about weight training post PM. My doc has always said that I could do 'pretty much anything I wanted to after 2 months. I am now at 12 weeks. The pacemaker nurses tell me not to do anything overhead like presses or pull downs. When I asked the doc he said it was OK but don't do anything real 'heavy'. He also told me that he had placed the PM taking into consideration my 'active' routine. He said the leads are under the co...

PACEMAKER HACKERS.

Hello all.

I was looking for some information in response to pacemakers and wireless laptops, when I came across this article.
I debated as to whether I should post it, as in the past, some articles have caused some to panic.
I decided that in this day and age, you can't be too careful, and knowledge is power.
So, please just read it carefully, as well as the comments made by people who have already read what you are about to read.
May be you already know about it...
