pacemaker/umbilical herniation

My husband had the ct scan done. Had been severely sick since. Bloated, turned severe jaundic,hypo-glycemic. Then in that week the bely button herniation. I've been checking the internet & my nursing books. But anything someone could add would be appreciated. He is in hospital & they want to send him home. Blocked liver duct, cancer? But it all seems to tie into the pacemaker when checking the web. I think he should be sent to Toronto. they have him in Kingston east caner hospital learning dr. w...

pacemaker after NCS/vasovagal

Does anyone have this problem - have had a PM for almost 4 years. Lifetime of vaso vagals but every 4-6 weeks I get periods of what I call brownouts (I dont blackout) It is like Im going to crash and then it passes off lasts about 1 minute.
They usually start in the early morning (wakening me from sleep) and continue on a roughly hourly basis and then just disappear sometimes only 4-5 sometimes more No idea what precipitates them or why they just go. Drs are stumped

blood pressure increase post PM

for 2 mo. after pm placement, I (who have never had high bp in my life)had my bp spike, like in the 170's over 99-102.
the pm was for a bradycardiac heart rate only (32-33 bpm) , no other cardiac problems... 2 internists said it was to be expected as my body gets used to the increased hr (now 60 bpm, like clockwork), but the surgeon and my cardiologist said there should be no connection between the pm and the spike in bp...
has anyone had this problem, or heard of it, or can explain me...

my defib just kicked in

it was about 20 minutes ago and i was in bed. every time i have been shocked it was when i was laying down up in the morning.
does anyone know why i have this pattern? the feeling of vt alerted me that it might fire. my old heart is about wore out. i am due to get a new icd on dec 4th because my battery is getting low. i have been shocked 9 times in the last 3 weeks.that depletes a battery quicker than just the pacing out of vt. if you are out there i would appreciate some company. jon

After the CT scan, he has been severely sick. That's been 3 days now. So the brain operation, hip-replacement,pacemaker,hypoglycemic, now he is jaundice. I'm so afraid he is going to die on me.
Yerri you have been in the health care . I sure wasn't as long as you. (he also has hep C) for 23yrs from a tattoo. It was dormant.
Sue Any comments?
They knew he was incapable of doing this crime why can't he just come home. I pray. He walks around a minimum security. When he could. You...

update

Ok so I cant find my message to update, I guess I will start a new one. For those of you that read my last frustration wits end post:

I went to the new EP cardiologist today for the second opinion. I was sort of funny, I could barely take him seriously as he was dressed for halloween wearing a sweat head band and a cheerleeding skirt (and pants of course). HILARIOUS! nice way to meet a doctor. Anyways. I briefly explained what I was feeling and the problem I was having with my c...

Daughter's pacemaker wires out through skin

My daughter has a hypoplastic heart and an abdominal pacemaker. In November 2008 one of her wires worked it's way through to the surface and broke through. The pacemaker was reimplanted without complication. Now earlier this month the same thing has happened again. To complicate matters the incision from the most recent procedure is weeping. Has anyone had any experience with this type of issue, especially among children? Thanks.

I 'see stars' when arm is raised

I have a pacemaker and defibrillator for atrial fib. I am 42. The ablation surgery did not workout. I believe the pacemaker ios dead, I was on a heart monitor and no pacing spikes were showing. I get it checked tomorrow for that. My question is when I raise my left arm I see stars- can someone tell me why!!??? It has been for quite a long time now and as a result I keep that arm low.

Tachycardia while exercising

PM is about 3 months old. Saturday I was on elliptical at gym and 1st 15 min or so I had what I call tachycardia - hard, heavy palpitations. This has never happened to me while exercising nor for this amount of time. It started when I began using the arm part of the machine but continued whether I was using arms or just resting them. I did not feel pain. Kept going so I could see my heart rate. 1st reading was 144 then it went to 169. I stopped after that. Any clues what might have been...

Mystery Shut Down

Weird happenings here. I have home monitoring for my PM, sends report to pm mfg every 24 hours. Last report went on 9/4/09 at 2:00 a.m., which is correct timing -- but for some reason no more reports after that. They finally contacted me 9/28 to let me know that reports were coming in, sent me new monitor. That one did not work either. Went through several days with the pm tech on the phone with let's try this, wait and see if get report -- nothing.
Finally yesterday a.m., on phone w...

pacemaker mediated tachycardia

Hi,
I had my third pacemaker put in last year. Twenty-four years with 2 Medtronics, but my newest one is St. Jude's, if that matters. I have periodic hard and rapid heartbeats with my new pacemaker which my doctor thought was pacemaker mediated tachycardia. They tweaked the settings and it appeared to get better, but has returned recently with a vengence. I'm preparing for another office visit to have it interrogated and hopefully tweaked again, but was wondering if others had had similar i...
