Hi all I had a pacemaker implanted in September and after about 6 weeks I could not even tell it was there and all was great. But in the past week or so I have been experiencing a lot of pain in my site and it radiates into my left shoulder and it seems that the pacemaker has came to the surface of my skin more than it was previous. I asked my doctor about it today and he said that sometimes they shift slightly as you get back into your normal daily life however he did not think that it had s...

Hi guys,
Been awhile since I last posted. In the past 6 months I've had an ablation to stop 2 to 1 pacing when my heart rate goes above 140 (goes to 140, drops to 70 for 2-3 minutes); didn't work. After multiple programing changes, had a lead revision to remove the v lead (the thought was that there was too much scar tissue at the tip) and to place pacemaker subpectorially for better protection. Xray the next am, determined not enough slack in lead, subsequent operation to lengthen...

Hello everyone, This is my first time on here. I had a pacer put in a week ago tomorrow and I have had nothing but complications. Saturday I had very hard pounding heart rate and had to go to the ER. Of course they said nothing was wrong... Went to the doctors today for a pacer interrogation and they said I was only using the Atrial pacer 2% and the ventrical pacer 0% but while they said that we could clearly see the ventrical pacing!!?? what is up with that? I have a bitronics pacer and am wo...

6 weeks post PM and I am noticing what seems to be vein swelling above the incision where the leads went in. Has anyone else had this? It is sensitive, not painful, to the touch. Not sure if it is something I need the surgeon to check out. Thanks and Happy New Year to All!!!

I am 5 days out of surgery and wondering why I would have a very localized spot of burning pain in my mid abdomen only when I bend or press on the spot? I am hoping some one knows what I am talking about and can tell me if I should be worried or not.
Thanks, MrsG

So now I have a pacemaker... Wont let my heartrate fall below 60BPM. What happens if I die from some other type of problem? like extended liverfits or extreme stupidity.(Just plausable examples) Will my pacemaker keep my heart beating after everything else is technically dead?? What happens if the pacemaker keeps going and brings me BACK after I'm buried or on the way into the crematorium? YIKES!!! If some other thing kills me (drowning or car wreck) will they have sense enough to shut the...

Four weeks ago i got my pacemaker. I'm still having trouble getting out of bed, im very tired.I get winded very easily.I went to my cardio doctor last week, he said i needed to give my self time to heal. I had the pacemaker rep. do an integragation, and said everything was normal. At that point the doctor put a 24 hour moniter on and noticed i was having fast Arrythmia, so he sent me back to the E.P doctor, who had to make adjustments. Within 24 hours i was back at the E.P. doctor because i had...

I am 21 years old and I have a PM renewal in July '09.
I had some problems with my cars battery so i tried to fix it on my own and while i was trying, i accidentally touched on the engine block and i had a electric shock.
After this happened, i feel a little bit of lackness in my pulse rythms from PM. I am really scared for a shortcut that occured during that shock..
Does this mean the nodes could have been damaged and i need another surgery for a new node plantation OR could it...

Hi what happened to you and the advice given sounds the same as what happened to me. I too was told more fluids, and salt. Then I was told to much fluid??? Now the Dr. says there is more electrical problems in the heart, SVT, QRS, and so I am off to a Dr. who specializes in electrical mapping of the heart.
I know it is irritating, I thought pacemaker in no more problems, I am on a slow learning curve with this heart stuff. Don't hesitate to complain to the Dr. or the Pacemaker Rep, they...

Thank-you Inga for your comments. You seem to be very knowledgeable about Pacemakers. What is the difference between unipolar and a bipolar setting? I would appreciate your input. Kat

I had a Sorin Group Pacemaker implanted June '09 and have had problems ever since. I asked for a St. Judes, and woke up with a Sorin, no one in my local area can work on it, the closest hospital to me, a heart hospital (I went to another hospital to have the pacemaker implanted) has never even heard of the Brand. I have had 2 different Reps check the device, and also nurses in the Doctors office have checked the unit, and after 6 months of problems now they say it was not programed right from...

Hi all! I would like to thank everyone for the great information that I have found at this site! I received my pacemaker (dual lead) on November 6th, 3 days after having an aortic valve replacement and aneursym repaired. I am now experiencing itching and redness at the site. It does not appear to be infected, just sort of inflamed. No drainage. Is this normal and has anyone else had this to happen?

Well, I'm 7 weeks into this new pacemaker. Came down with sick sinus syndrom. Went through the operation and time of resting and letting things heal up real well. Bad case of hair-growing-back ITCH. But that's about it. The cardiologist gave me a cardionet to wear at work to keep track of how I'm doing around machinery and working heavily. So far no glitches. They read my pacemaker a week ago and it's doing very well.
But I went for an ultrasound of my carroded artery and my aeorta...

Yesterday I went in to have my pacer interogated for my first 30 day check up. (After the replacement of a failed medtronics lead- and the subsequent implantation of an entire new device as well) The medtronics tech turned a funny color, and called in another tech who also showed signs of stress..... apparently the new lead is not pacing me, though it is giving some signal back. Albeit, according to the techs, a "weak one" they sent me for an x-ray thinking the lead had moved. (and they tho...
Murmurs and leads?

Anyone else pick up a murmur after your pacer was put in? Last week I was told I have a little 'squeak' of a murmur that wasn't there before. Nurse Practitioner told me nothing to worry about and there was no way the lead could be causing it. Further research on my part says that leads can definitely cause murmurs and in some cases can lead to more serious complications. Was wondering if anyone else had had, heard about or seen this type of issue?
Thanks again everyone.

Yesterday I was at the video store when out of nowhere I started getting dizzy and my neck started tingling it shot down my spine, my legs felt tingling and my arms and shoulders have this tingling burning feeling. I sometimes get a metalic taste in my mouth and sometimes into foam but not much. This just happened to me yesterday, I haven't had it in about two years. In the past it sometimes gets so bad that my whole body starts to heat up inside, I know for a fact this is not anxiety in any way...
