What a great week I have had

Hi Pals

Yes, I have had a great week with you all. I am gradually getting used to the different times zones and knowing when to catch who on chat. I bought a map this week to mark out where everyone is. It kinda brings you all closer. I am wondering if there is going to be that reunion that was talked about. Does anyone know? Brian and I are thinking of coming over from Australia so it would be good to know well in advance for long distance members. We want to work in some trip...

About the Good ol' days

Okay, my PM is electronic and doesn't rely on gas (well, except for when I go for my check-ups)

Jessie's post about the good ol' days got me thinking...

When it comes to paying rediculous prices for gas - I am amazed at how "accepting" the masses are.
I have seen a few times when it is posted all over the internet to "stop buying gas from just one company for one day"
But we don't bother.
It's easier to "do nothing" and "complain."

(Not saying all...

PM implant location

Hi folks,
I had a pm implanted 3 weeks ago today after spending the last 3 months, fainting, gasping for air and generally feeling weaker by the day. Upon realizing that my pulse would not go above 28, I was rushed to emergency for a pm. It has given me a new life. I still get dizzy and have strange feelings of pressure in my chest and back and twinges at the site of the incision.
The reason I am posting is that, due to severe scarring in both my lungs due to a childhood illness & ha...

hi live in a small town in s.w. ontario near the water. i once lived in toronto and i experienced a big city. to-day i went to the corner butcher and bought some meat . somehow he always takes care to wrap each serving carefully. i feel good giving him the business versus a big chain. we are now going to be hit with very expensive food and gas. why??? we make the gas here for god's sake.my son lives and works in the middle east. he pays 29 cents a gallon. why do we pay this senseless price while...

I am a 48 year old that just got my pacemaker in Nov 2007. I had passed out in the Summer & was told that it was because of menopause because they couldn't find anything wrong with all the test they did. In November l had 4 lightheadedspells along with feeling dizzy & having a hard time breathing. Then l passed right out on the floor, l then went to the hospital & found out l also have a menigioma benign tumour. Which the Doctor thought was why l was passing out & then after giving me medication...

Just found out today

Hi- My name is Candi and I am 31 years old. I was diagnosed with Left Ventricular Non Compaction in March. We just found out today the people with LVNC have a higher rate of cardiac arrest so I guess I'm getting a defib on June 2nd. I put off the implant until school was out because of not being able to drive after the implant. I am very worried about recovery time. We have 5 horses, 2 young children and I work with children so you can see we are very active. It was horrible after having t...

Follow Up...

Wow what a road I have been down over the past month. I appreciate the advice I have received here. Today I had a Tilt Table Test. I was passed out cold in less than 8 minutes. It would have been sooner if I wouldn't have convinced the man giving the test to unstrap my legs to allow me to bend them. They have diagnosed me with Neurocardiogenic Syncope and I show the signs of Heart Block but he feels these will go away if we treat the syncope. The 2 treatment options at this point are Proamatine...

some issues with activity

Hi everyone
Just passed the first year of living with PM. I had only heart block problem and that’s why I received a PM. I can run and play soccer, but usually the day after I play my heart starts pounding and I feel lots of pressure on my neck. And it is on and off for a couple of days. A couple of times since last year I had to go to ER because of this issue, and they put me on monitor and even though that I had that feeling, they couldn’t see anything wrong with my heart. I even not sur...

Follow up to Shock That Saved Me

Well I was still having palpatations even on the amiodarone. I was transfered back to the heart hospital and they did a re-loading dose of the amiodarone. Even still had palpatations. I had a medic friend of mine do a rhythm strip and 12 lead EKG to find out that I was having a slow VT. I immediately scheduled an appointment with my EP doctors and the amiodarone was stopped and I had a VT/PVC ablation, a 5 hour procedure. They tell me it went well, but they were unable to find the pvc's that...

adjusting

Hi

I just received a pacemaker about three weeks ago. I was having shortness of breath, coughing and fatigue a week after my implant. The dr. turned it up but I'm still having a little fatigue, shortness of breath and this like lump in my throat that makes me cough on occasion. Is this normal? Or is it something I may have to get use to? Thanks,

Hello all, I had a dual chamber pacemaker implanted in 8/20/07and all went well until a few months later and I started having the same symptoms I had before the dual chamber pacer, I called the doc and we played around with my meds for awhile and then by decreasin my metoprolol and verapamil I started to feel good again, thank God. So I just wanted to tell if anyone is having this same problem, to get doc to check meds, I didn,t need the milligrams I was taking before the implantation. It did wo...

On seeing the gallery

Please forgive my ignorance. I just logged on yesterday for the first time in a long time after the e-mail about the pulse, and I went into the gallery, looked at the pictures and cried. I have been looking at you and reading post all day long. You people are all so young, vibrant, and well so normal looking. I expected more of you to, well, be older, sickly looking. I always thought that the need for the PM was for the older generation. I hope I did not offend anyone. Let me vent if you...

Rate Response

Hi All,
I've been reading this forum for quite some time now and was very interested in the postings about Rate Response.
I have had a pacer for a very long time now and the rate response has always been turned on. Yesterday I went for my clinic appointment and mentioned I had been reading about it. Well, guess what? I haven't needed it turned on all this time, so off it went. So far so good! I am hoping that it will now help with the shortness of breath and arrythmias I get wh...

more "cable" than before......

I am 9 months post biventricular ICD implant. - Today I did a great deal of strenuous work - (I'm moving.....) tonight I noticed it feels as though there is more "cable" around the unit than before - as if I pulled it from somewhere (under the device?) by lifting and hauling so much. The area is tender (it always is when I push myself hard) - since mine doesn't regulate my pulse I can't tell if it's otherwise doing it's thing - (keeping things in synch - ) or not. Has any one else ever ex...
