Frank& Terry,
First let me call this what it is. It is self-serving babble.
Of course both of you are correct. I knew I was stepping into scared territory on this one and started to stay quiet. Wish I had now. But Frank, Steve asked if his pacemaker could have a negative effect on his EF. That is what I was referring to. I'm aware that pacemakers have a positive effect on EF for many people. I just wish I could say I was one of those people then maybe I could get an...

I am having a lot of problems with the rate response function from my pacemaker. My rate is set to 80 BPM but under any attempt at activity I can only get an increase up to 83-84 BPM.
I am always tired and need a nap after any extended walking or attempted excercise.
What do I do now?

New Here...
I should have searched for this group earlier...I'm STILL trying to come to grips with the fact that, at age 44 (implant at 43) I have a defibrillator/pacemaker. I'm not dealing with it very well. Many issues to deal with, PM/DF just one small part...
But just wanted to pop on and say hello. I hope to find support here that I've not found anywhere else....
What am I to do
I am 50 YO male and a father of two beautiful girls 2 and 4. I was diagnosed with Bradycardia on 1/31/09. I was having light headed episodes while driving and thought it was neurological or my high stress job. Episodes were due to toprol xl, a beta blocker that I was taking because I had slightly elevated BP (>130). Off meds, had cath work done, heart and pipes are clean. Have worn several HOLTER monitors and event recorders. BPM decent during the day ( >50) while sitting at work, higher...

I have been experiencing "Little Shocks" for about 2 months!
It feels like I am being zapped! It last for 15 - 1 minute. Happens at all different times no rhyme or reason! At first I thought it was my heart! Like a sharp/stabbing pain. I went to my EP who said while it is very rare some people experience a "POKE" from the PM touching nerve endings. He also said there is nothing that can be done for it as if he moves it it's very likely to happen again, that some people are just very sens...

I have had discovery 1283 for about 6 years -I have this noise that is like morris code or tapping at different times of the day. I notice it most at night. Would it be some type of setting that is monitoring me. I have been assured that the pacer has no moving parts so it is not possible, however I think I know a heart beat and a tapping sound with a bit of rythm. If anyone has any ideas I would like them. This is my 2nd PM. My first installed in Sept. 2004. Just got my new unit April 8th. My old unit was a Medtronic AT500,This is a ADSR01,WHAT a differnce. I have Afib, top of Heart has been over 350bpm for the last 3 years. The Dr. didn't put the top lead on this time because it has done nothing to pace the Afib. Since 04 I have had so much pain in my heart, and swelling above my heart. Nobody could figure it out. I had stabing pains most of the time with the old PM. It would feel like someone had...

I get dizzy every time I stand up
when my world is spinnin', I wanna throw up
I disguise it well with moves
that everyone approves
just wear your plastic shoes,
'cause I never seem to ring my cup.
The best thing since Disco, peace-out, word-up.

Since I wear EKG electrode patches almost daily, I'm going to start creating "FASHION ELECTRODES".
These hypo-allergenic patches can be suited to meet all of your fashion needs. Available in all colors to match any outfit perfectly, additional cubic zirconia and other jewels may be added (at additional cost) for that special night on the town.
As an added bonus: you can get shaped electrodes in heart shaped, flower shaped, or your favorite sport (baseball or football shaped...

Hi everybody..hope you are well!
Can a pacemaker have a negative impact on one's ejection fraction (EF)? I'm learning terms as I go along.
Or, can just having a pacemaker yield a different reading or measurement just by the fact that it has some control over heart rate?
Does that make sense? Thanks.

Hey!!! Since a lot of us aren't feeling our best, here is a quote that either could A) help you relate to your own emotions and make you laugh, or B) make it worse. I kinda doubt the second, but I put it there as a disclaimer. Anyhoos, here it is:

Some of you might remember earlier postings where I mentioned getting back on the treadmill and into running after my PM implant last November. My first goal was to get my 4 mile average pace back below 11 minutes per mile, then below 10:30/mile, and then below 10:00/mile (about where I was pre-op). With the nicer weather, I've been running a bit outside, but haven't been timing anything.
On Saturday I ran my first 5K organized race since the PM implant (I had a couple of earlier ra...
