Allergic to tape

I got my PM on Monday. After surgery the DR. covered my wound , and used a clear tape to cover the whole thing. Boy, within a few hours, I felt a burning. I looked, and the whole area underneath the tape was red and swollen. They removed the tape (which also removed several layers of sore skin, as well - OUCH!) I had to stay in the hospital 2 extra days due to the threat of infection. Who would think -- the tape? Barb.
P.S. The PM is doing find.

As the PM was installed, I felt a warmth spread throughout my chest. I figured that it was the increased bloodflow. (My pulse was only 36, and now it is 60 -- some difference.) My PM is a CYLOS DR by Biotronik.
This site and the questions and replied of all you wonderful people helped me prepare for surgery. Thank you all from the bottom of my (now faster) heart. Barbara
I'm new to the PM world...

Hi everyone! I am a 53 yr old woman who just had my first PM installed/implanted (?) on Tuesday, after going through 4 cardioversions, 3 Ablations, and 2 years of pure misery! I am still not sure I like being a Bionic Woman, but the humor I have read here in my first 1/2 hour on site, has helped tremendously! I feel lighter already.
My pacer is a St. Jude Victory 2 wire unit. I am paced 100% of the time right now, as my body tries to adjust to the device. It is smaller than I expected,...

Has anyone had pain under their armpit after having the implant? I have some pain there but I think it's because I just haven't been lifting my arm over my head since the surgery. Now that I can I'm guessing it's just sore from not moving that way for so long.

Greetings Everyone,
Just a quick note to let you know what a fantastic time we are having here in the UK! Peter and Nina have been the most gracious host! We have been out to see the countryside today where we enjoyed a beautiful lunch at a wonderful English Pub. Nina and I have also spent some time shopping! We have also been to view some beautiful churches and the open air market in Great Yarmouth.
We are so thankful to be here, what a gift it is to be with such wonderful frie...

Hello Everyone,
A few weeks ago I posted looking for anyone else out there like me and no one responded with a similar situation. I am getting very discouraged and worried. I am back at Mass General once or twice a week because of problems with my PM. They just can't seem to get the settings right. My problem is my heartrate dropping dramatically when I exercise but this week, as I was exercising my heart went the other direction. I have a very high heart rate to begin with when...

Static electricity shocks

I read the message from Starrider about the shock from a laptop which made me think about this. I feel that after I got my pm I get more static shocks and that they are bigger than before the pm. Sometimes it even feels like the pm stops for a few seconds - I am 100% paced and the feeling I get is like when the pm is turned off by the tech who check the battery on the pm.
Anyone else have the same experience?
Thanks

I know i've already talked to some of you and how so many of you have helped me with everything lately. I had my appointment today to see what else they can do for me the options aren't so exciting. My SA Node seriously has a mind of it's own. The SA seriously thinks that it can overpower everything else.
I go in for another ablation on June 19th. I feel like i'm a pro now at these. The doctor said that they see that having two happens some but three times doesn't happen as often. Has a...

...for all of our thoughts and prayers will be with you during your ablation on Wednesday!
So that comes to a total of one zillion thoughts and an infinite amount of prayers. That should hold you off till then :)
May God bless you and your family.
Take care!

P.S. send us post cards......well,...okay, how about just an update when you are feeling in tip top shape (or "tick tock" shape). I added that corny joke just for you.

I wanted to let you know that I am home from the hospital in Burbank and have had quite a week. Let me start by reporting that I had lead extraction and pacemaker replacement due to multiple problems with my PM since the initial implantation in April 2005. This surgery was done by a wonderful physician that I would highly recommend if anyone is in need of this procedure. There was one very serious complication which was that I went in to a late stage cardiac tamponade (SP?) in that my heart w...

After a routine check up revealed Afib, I saw a cardiologist who put me on Atenolol to slow the heart 50mgs. A week later I was having dizzy spells, went in to emergency at Brigham and Women's where it was confirmed that my heart beat was slowing down to as low as 7 beats per minute at times. The Dr. recommended a pacemaker and I reluctantly agreed. Now I am starting to wonder, if I had gone off the atenolol long enough, would the bradycardia have stopped. In other words was the pacemaker necessa...

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
