Anyone else with Lupus too!

I was just wonder if there is anyone else out there with a PM and Lupus? I'm 44 and have had lupus for 15 years. My doctor does not seem to think my heart problem is from lupus but I was curious if it might be.

Left ventrical noncompression symdrome

OOHHH realy scarry report from cardiologist but I am really not sure what it means for my health and welfare. The report said it transverses the left ventrical cavity. Seems like there are two shrinky-dink spots in my heart wall that are no longer living. I believe my heart is committing suicide without my permission. He seems to think this is what is causing my rythum problems. Does anyone know what this means? He is suggesting I go to Mayo clinic in Minn. for possible ablation. I am rea...

A Birthday Announcement for a Special Pacer

Happy 8 to the 2nd power + 4 Birthday!

You should tell people to write that on your cake. That way, they are obligated to buy the biggest one they have.

I hope you have a great birthday BobR! (if you say that fast, it sounds like “barber”)

Take care,

My husband , Major airline jet engine mechanic just received his ICD 8 weeks ago. He cannot return to work as the airline does not know what the magnetic fields/electrical fields are in and around running aircraft. Medtronics nor the physicians have no exp and no research related to the hazards of airline work and ICD/Pacemakers.Just running cars and arc welders as if that is what everyICD patient does for a living. The airline has been asked to hire an enviromental eng to complete the testing....

Coeliac disease

Coeliac disease is not an allergy. It's an auto-immune disease, which means that the body produces antibodies that attack its own tissues. For people with coeliac disease this attack is triggered by gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye and barley. Some people with coeliac disease also react to oats.(www.coeliac.org.uk). I was first diagnosed in 1956 and put on a gluten free diet and have been on one ever since apart from a spell of 12 years from mid teenage years. I was tested for a suspected h...

ideas?

Hello all,
I had another event today where I felt dizzy. I have a dual chamber medtronic pm for bradycardia, it only works when my bpm get below 60. I've had 3 real good weeks. I'm not sure why but the last few days I have been feeling like I'm not all there. A little light headed at times. Yesterday, out of the blue I had a wave of numbness come over me and I felt hot. The lightheadedness continued today. After work I went for a run and after 15 minutes I stopped because I was getti...

So, if you cant decide what to do on your b-day, here are some suggestions:
1. You can fly a kite….oh, but not if its raining, lol. Well, no, I guess you could fly one, but why chance it, I say.
2. You can make a request to NASA that you would like to attend the next flight into outer space. It only costs $20 million; great bargain yes? And if you don’t like your age, you can ask the astronaut to fl...

How high will the pacemaker go?

I was just wonder if anyone know how high a pacemaker can be set for? My doctor seemed to thing about 140 but he really didn't seem all too confident with that answer. I have an exercised indused heart block so when I am exercising my heart rate will be at 150 or even higher and then my beats will drop all the way down to 60 and stay there for a few minutes before trying to catch back up. It is even happening at around 100 bpm now. I have had my PM for 5 weeks and I 've just started back work...

Recovering

I am scheduled to have a generator (pacemaker) changed on next Thursday I had my last pacemaker changed when I was 19... they at that time moved the pacer to my right shoulder side what have you. Anyway I know that it hurt like heck for the first couple years and I was just wondering if it is going to hurt again for the same amount of time I am aware that I will not be able to golf and lift for a month or so but I was wondering if it is going to hurt as much as last time....

First tech dropped the ball!

I just went in for a 6 month check up with St Jude. The first technician, who had 23 years with the company, said he needed to make a couple of adjustments. He did and I went home. I felt on edge and a little weak. I called my Doc and went back in the next morning. A new tech was there from St Jude and hooked me up to the machine. In five minutes she stopped and said she had to talk to the Doc. He came in the room in a few minutes and sent me for a chest xray. One hour later he showed me the xra...

Future ICD's

I swear I'll stop posting so much soon, I just got on this site today :-). Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew of advances in ICD technology, more importantly (to me anyway) the size of the devices. Does anyone know of smaller, thinner devices in the works? I've tried to find info on it but all I find is that St. Jude's came out with flatter leads. It seems like the devices haven't really reduced in size from the 90's. I think the problem is that battery technology has basically come to a hal...

Chronotropic Incompetence(CI) - Need pacemaker

I'm hoping to find someone here with similar experience/situation who received a PM and had his/her problems solved. I've read thro' several posts here but nothing fits exactly. I'm primarily looking for advice on whether a PM will help me.

My problem, after 4 years of testing and some missteps by docs along the way appears to be that my heart rate does not go up with exercise as it should. I get dizzy, never have passed out, if I start exerting at some point. It's getting worse. 4 ye...

Leads coming loose

Hi,
I've seen a few people write about leads coming loose from the heart or device. I was wondering how you know it has come loose, is there an intense pain, do you get shocked?
Thanks!

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
